This only happens if I'm watching a video, but it happens in both VLC and movie player. The video's colors will be all messed up. I'm not sure if it's like sepia tone or negative tone but it's consistent. If it matters I'm using an NVidia card with updated drivers.
View 2 RepliesI got my video files from my external hard drive to play, except that all the video's are all negative. Is there a setting to adjust this? I tyred to to go threw the player and see if I changed the settings some how.I even tried other players. I had been watching ..... videos earlier, it was a little choppy video but colours were fine, then I think loaded the flash players and after that the colour went to negative.

I don't have any problems with the Monitor or the display of websites, it's only videos that aren't displayed correctly. Could that be due to the graphic card? I thought about updating the drivers but since I did that when I installed Ubuntu and had the problem from the beginning I wonder what it could be.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 x64, and the colors in my videos are distorted. Blue seems to be the primary tint over everything. This problem occurs regardless of video format (avi, mkv, flv, etc) and regardless of video player I use (banshee, totem, vlc, etc). However, no other colors in my operating system are distorted; it's only for these movies. I also have an NVidia video card, which I installed the latest driver for through the restricted drivers pop up.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running Gnome on my desktop and going to keep it for now. I've read that Evolution is integrated into Gnome and I cannot remove it without deleterious effects. So, possible to disable it without negative effects? If so how to do that? The only problems I've had relating to Gnome have been Evolution. I'll just copy email links and paste them in Gmail.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my girlfriend laptop to 9.10 and now, for some odd reason, when she plays DVDs on her laptop (the most recent attempt was the latest Harry Potter movie) the movie would play back fine but the colors for everything were way off. I've re-added the medibuntu software sources to her system and applied all available updates but it didn't help.
This problem did not occur on my own computer when attempting to play the exact same DVD.
I just installed Ubuntu 10.4 today... but I�ve got a weird problem...
When I want to play an official DVD, Mplayer and VLC start and close down immediately..
When I want to play a movie from my HDD I get this (see attachment) with Mplayer and with VLC..Totem just doesn't want to play it..
but whats really weird is when I make a screenshot using VLC even though the colours are weird the screen shot comes out normal
I've just upgraded to Kubuntu 10.10 recently, and everything's working well, except that the screen seems to display less colors than it used to. It's very noticeable when looking at smooth gradients, since there are no smooth gradients anymore.
I'm using a laptop with a Radeon HD 5650 video card. The drivers seem to be working well, since I can run a 3D game like Nexuiz without any problems. The lack of colors isn't even very noticeable when playing games, but I can see it clearly in KDE... for example, the window background gradient isn't really a gradient now, just a few different shades of gray next to each other.I've looked around in KDE display settings and ATI settings, but there's absolutely nothing about the number of displayed colors there.
Since I have done some software updates after moving to ubuntu 11.04 some images are not shown correctly in mozilla firefox. Their colors are blue-green like some effects are applied. it is something like night vision or as in the movie "predator". How can I fix this error?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to Natty/Unitiy I was having problems with very slow and choppy window motion. I tried reinstalling fglrx, and now some of the colors in firefox are coming out inverted (e.g. yellow -> purple) or perhaps just scrambled in some other way (see attached screenshot). There are no other issues I've seen other than some colors in firefox. Most colors look okay.
I downloaded chromium and there are no problems with colors there. I've also upgraded to the latest fglrx drivers from the ATI website and nothing changed. I also uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and still the colors are coming out strangely. Some info. I have an HP Pavilion tx2500ca, with ATI Technologies Inc RS780M/RS780MN [Radeon HD 3200 Graphics].
I have a weird colors problem while trying to play movies in gnome movie player or vlc, the colors change totally like pink becoming green and yellow becomes pink. Any way to overcome it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the past month or so I have been having some issues with screen crashing and displaying funky colors. Basically it happens at completely random times, doing completely random things. The screen goes to a pink color then freezes the the only way I can gain control again is if I restart the machine or restart gdm via ssh. This is really puzzling me. Perhaps there are some logs I can look at? A little bit about my system:

I decided to install Debian on my Power Mac G4 (Digital Audio). Everything worked, but the default GeForce 2 only worked at 1024x768 at few colors. Is there any way to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere's this low monotone electronic buzz coming out of my speakers. But only if the greater part of my screen is using lighter colors! Meaning, if for instance I have the terminal (black) full-screen there is no buzz. If I have it sized over the half of my screen there's a medium buzz. And if I am on the Google Search home page with the browser full screen (most of the screen white) there's a loud buzz. :SAnd it's only if I run the sound through my amplifier. It's not audible if I just use the laptopspeakers. Really, I have no idea even in what direction to start looking.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I play large HD videos in mplayer, the video and sound frequently get out of sync, and the video plays a little strangely (occasionally speeding up and occasionally slowing down).
I think it's because mplayer is only running on a single core. As I've got a quad-core processor, it seems inefficient. I've seen that there is theoretically a way to get mplayer to work with multicore setups, but it requires compiling with different options. That'd take me a little while to work through.
Ideally there would be a pre-compiled version in the software centre, or a player which has support built in (again, ideally in the software centre). Is there such a thing available?

The way to fix it would be to separate the audio and video streams, speed up the video (the audio is FINE, it's the video that's wrong), and then recombining them. I was using Super+M keyboard shortcut yesterday to enable/disable the Compiz Negative theme (inverted colours), but now when I do the same keyboard shortcut it just opens the Mail/Chat/Broadcast menu next to the date/calendar/clock in the top panel.

In order to see the options I have to hover over them with the mouse at which point they become momentarily visible. I read a post somewhere where someone had a similar problem and it was solved by reinstalling Compiz, but I've tried uninstalling it entirely, reinstalling it, etc. and none of it works. It doesn't happen with flash videos in firefox, it does happen with visualisations in Totem, and it only started happening since I upgraded to 11.04.

I have previously used Cinelerra-cv (on Karmic) and recently Openshot (on Lucid) with not much trouble. I have been sampling other video editors (Kdenlive, avidemux, kino etc). Now I have my video card crashing whichever I use, mainly when trying to load clips. I have disabled Compiz, uninstalled all video editors and then reinstalled one at a time. I still get early video crashes whichever I try.
