I have been trying to make it possible to upload images on my website via a web browser. I have created the HTML form, I can browse to my desktop and upload an image. But my question is, where is it on my server after I upload it? I am running 8.04 on my server.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Linux from a DVD, not installed. I am not good with installing software, but since the DVD cannot be corrupted, I am content to operate this way. Lately, I have been having problems that previously did not occur. When I try to click on the checkbox to get rid of emails, it doesn't register in most cases, or when it does, I am clicking multiple times so it registers twice, meaning it is unchecked again. Even more frustrating is some issues that are affecting my ability to update my business. I am trying to modify spreadsheets (text not calculations).
Whenever I try to click & drag to select something to change, it keeps jumping around to select only some of what I want, something else or some combination of the 2. When I try to copy and paste several fields from 1 column to another, everything from the several fields in the source column ends up together in the last field in the target column. I am also trying to download some images from a website. There is a single column of links to the images. I have to click on the link to get to the image in order to copy it, then back out to continue looking for more links to do the same.
My computer keeps jumping back 2 steps, then forward 2 steps, and sometimes I lose my place in that list. I could deal with it if it were a small number of links, but this is a list of probably close to 20,000 links. Again, i am operating off of a live DVD so this should not be corruptible, but this has just started happening, and has been an issue the last several sessions.
have setup a LAMP server with ubuntu 10.04 server edition x86 for my study in VMware Workstation 7.1 For a assignment I had to make a php script that would load a file up to the server and set the name in a mysql database. According to the book the server should set the image in a cryptic folder in the /tmp/ folder.
This isn't working and i also try'd locate and find to find the image i uploaded. I checked the php.ini and file uploads were on but no folder so i set that one to /tmp/ but still no images. Can anyone help me with enabling this function?
I have some pictures that were taken vertically and they show up rotated correctly in nautilus and F-spot correctly. But when I go to upload an image to the web, the preview in the image upload dialog shows the pictures on their side, or horizontal. As a result the uploaded images ends up being horizontal and not vertical, like I want it too. To sum up, the images show up rotated correctly in the file browser, but they aren't actually rotated when uploaded to the web.

I even printed the $_FILES array and it looks like this:

But the problem is that this file never gets saved to /var/upload directory (I changed php.ini file, so that uploaded files should be saved into /var/upload. I tried /var/tmp as well, but it's the same). Here are also the permissions of this dir:

BTW, I use Mandriva 2010 64 bit distribution. I spent last two days searching for solution on internet forums, asking people and made absolutely no progress. is it possible to debug what is happening with the supposedly uploaded file? I mean any logs, where I could find trace, what's going wrong? I tried to check /var/log/httpd and files in there, but no success either...
I have a Linux-based PC, running Fedora 13, and am attempting to upload photos from my Soncy Cyber-Shot DSC-W310 digital camera. When I insert the CD that came with my camera, I get the following error message:

I'm running OpenSuse 11.0 in a lamp configuration with Apache 2. I configured Apache with the .conf files instead of YAST because I am running virtual hosts (that's another story).
My problem is that my server will not render the pages unless the permissions are set to 775 which I know is not necessary. This is also causing a problem because I am trying to install WordPress onto the server. WordPress will run, but it unable to upload images because it cannot create the directories required.
Apache2 is running as 755 with root as owner and www as group. I changed the owner of the htdocs sub-directories to myself, and created a group that has permissions to write to the directory. WordPress runs as my user and has the same permissions (775).

Well I have vsftpd working flawlessly in a file browser or ftp client. I can log in, upload and download; but I cannot upload or download through a web browser. I have tried IE8/9, firefox, iceweasel and epiphany to no avail.

Some website's CSS code won't load until repeated reloads - for example, wachovia.com. I'll visit the website and it will be all distorted because the stylesheets did not load, and I will have to refresh a number of times before it becomes usable. Other website's images won't load until multiple refreshes, like facebook.
Is this an openSUSE issue? An openSUSE interaction with Firefox issue? I've never had this problem on XP or Ubuntu.

It is not a website html issue.***PROBLEM***Images are not beind displayed,javascripts are not being run, however when the site is viewed from a local source as a file(like on a USB Flash Drive) they work fine and display properly.Here is the website URL:I have removed a lot of the images and content or changed it in order to troubleshoot it myself, so the site is stripped pretty bare. There is supposed to be a logo inside the "header" <div>, which is set in the CSS file "style.css". There are supposed to be images for navigation, but they show up as red "x"'s. I removed the javascript elements and just trying to work with barebone html/css and can't seem to get it to display properly.

The page eventually continues to load, but it takes a long time. This problem effects all browsers on the machine (tried Firefox and Chromium). It is not a problem with the connection, because a Windows 7 laptop and even the Windows XP partition on the Ubuntu machine function as they should.

I use the move_uploaded_file(), but I can't get the location to work correctly. "/var/www/upload/" uploads to "/var/www/". This is the only way i can get this code to work. I would like to upload to "/var/www/upload/".

Originally I had installed openssh-server (through apt-get, before learning about tasksel). I assumed this only had ssh support and not ftp, so after a quick search, I installed vsftpd. I would like to learn how to configure openssh, and I mention vsftpd in case there is a conflict.
Right now I am able to log in to my server box through ssh/ftp, but I can only modify my home directory. I created a directory: /var/www/andrew and set permissions to drwxr-xr-x. I am unable to upload files to this folder.
What do I have to do to resolve this, and is there anything else I should know about my situation?
