View 3 RepliesBecause a lot of them either refuse to install because of incompatibility for 64-bit Operating systems or they just don't work very well for recording video games, such as TF2.I found one, but it appears to have been abandoned for some reason, what a shame. It's GLC, but I can't figure out how to record WINE apps. I can't figure out what to record. The wiki tells me to record a "wine-pthread" but it says that it can't be executed nor is there such a file that exists on my computer. Are there any more options other than GLC? Or could I get some help with it?

View 4 Replies View Relatedanyone knew of a good variant of recordmydesktop (Or some better screen recorder) that was user/..... friendly? I want to record let's plays of SNES games (Via ZSNES), and have so far been having multiple complications with recordmydesktop (I.E. Having to use Audacity for sound, choppy emulation, general annoyance, etc...).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have assembled an "old" PC I want to attach to my 32" Sony TV. Mainly for browsing, watching videos, playing casual games. Is there a special Desktop theme suited for big screen ? In other words: Big icons, big text? Not sure if Unity helps out here. I would be willing to install another desktop manager (e.g. XFCE, KDE) than Gnome if it provides such features. Firefox for examples supports increased font size for browsing. For shell I've played around with guake and font sizes around 20 pix. It just would be nice to have "enlarged" menu entries.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am elevating this thread up a level from [url] . Ubuntu 9.10 no longer streams without the screen pausing and going black every 2 minutes! Our product was just going into production and now we need to hopefully find a version of Ubuntu that streams video! We couldn't go with Unbuntu 10.04 because the video streaming was 30% slower than 9.10.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI love foobar 2000 but I'm always trying to shy away from windows apps. What are your recommendations as "good" replacements for foobar 2000? So far I have tried:
Amarok - Crashes all the time, and keeps saying it can't play mp3s. Used to love this app, but seems broken for me now. Even if I reinstall it.
Rhythmbox - Great, but reports the wrong bitrate on all my songs. It is very important for me to know the correct bitrate for uploading to certain sites.
Audacious - Way to simple and winamp like.
Bangarang - No.
I am looking for a decent easy to use DVD ripper (Like K9copy) but want it to be xfce native application has anyone got any ideas on this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am missing in my natty some good tool to operate on id3 tags of my mp3. - Could you recommend one that you are/were using ? I don't use Rhythmbox or Banshee and need other, an "external" tool. Alternatively, it could be plugin for Audacious (v2.5) but it needs to have at least elements of batch processing as I have large and messy and hairy and greasy music collection to be sorted out

I want a program similar to Windows Movie Maker that can record audio and import pictures that I made with GIMP and put them on a timeline so that I can make an animation.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm relatively new to Ubuntu and am just trying to get basic functionality without having to punt back to Windows applications on Wine (such as Irfanview). All I want to do is step through photos (by pressing a key, such as the space bar) to view & then press a keyclick to move the good ones to a separate folder.
This is so fundamental that I must assume there must be software in Ubuntu which can accomplish those two simple tasks (step through a folder and move a file to another folder). Yet, I have The Gimp, GNU Paint, Krita, KSnapshot, XFig, XPaint, etc., and none of them appear to have this basic functionality (which Irfanview has, but on Windows).
What program can view and easily MOVE the photo to a stated directory in a single keystroke? Note: All the programs can "open a file" and "save as" but this is NOT the desired fundamental operation. The fundamental operation is:
- Press a key (spacebar would be nice) to scroll to the next photo in a folder.
- Press another key combination ("control + m" would be nice) to move the photo to a stated folder
- The "index" should NOT be reset (that is, the next spacebar should show the next photograph in the folder, not jump back, perhaps hundreds of photos, to the first photo as The Gimp does, for example, after a save).
- It's ok to set the move-to folder the first time, but it should not ask each and every time which folder as it should be the default for the move command after the first move.
Note: I also tried making the icons in the Nautilus browser huge and then control-click selecting the good ones, but that makes ALL icons at all times huge, and the scroll in Nautilus is atrocious, so, in effect, that was a failure. I need a graphic program that performs this simple task. This is so fundamental of a need (to scroll through and move just the good photos to a stated folder) that I find it hard to believe I can't (yet) find a graphics display program capable of scrolling and moving photos.
i've recently installed 11.04 and am giving banshee a shot. it seems pretty good although has crashed a few times. but when i import my music folders (about 900GB, 175,000 items .. and growing..) it takes days. that's not such a big problem because it only needs to be indexed once, i assume, ... but the UI is very slow now - so that clicking on an album can take several seconds to bring up the tracklist. also typing into the search box there is a large delay before the matches are shown. is this just to be expected for such a large db? i recall i had google desktop indexing and returning results almost immediately back on winblows.. other ones i have tried include rhythmbox , amarok, songbird .. but have not found any of them to be stable and simple enough to my liking.
can anyone recommend a good player , my essential requirement is a fast and efficient indexing - with tag support would be grand, but just based on filenames is ok too. drag and drop into a play queue like rhthmbox had would be nice.
I've just discovered the app TuneIn on my Android phone, it allows you to access radio stations that broadcast over the net, as well net-only ones, in an easy searchable interface (the 'backend' is the website radiotime.com).
Is there a way to do a similar thing on Opensuse? Currently I have a small list of stations in banshee which I had to manually add - a very painstaking manual process. Is there a plugin for banshee or another program that does this well?
This obnoxious bar has just appeared in Smplayer at the top of the screen. It stays there even when I go full screen. Now full screen isn't full screen and there are black edges on both sides of the screen. I have not be able to figure out how to hide it. I do not need or want this onscreen display. How can I configure Smplayer to make this go away? How can I get my 16:9 full screen aspect ratio back? I have done nothing to mplayer or smplayer as far as editing any or changing any configuration files. I tried several videos and it displays on all of them. It was not there last time I used Smplayer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedOpenSuse 11.3 with nVidia drivers.I have the screen working fine though it only runs in 1600x1200@75 using the nVidia driver (GTX260 card). When I play a game in full screen mode all seems OK but when I exit the game then I just get the mouse pointer on a black screen. There must be something present since the cursor changes as I move it, normal pointer -> hand over a link etc. It's just that black on black isn't very readable.
