Ubuntu Multimedia - Get Usb To Vga Adapter For Monitor

I'm running on 10.10 and planning on getting an usb -> vga adapter for my monitor. I've read some threads where many people seem to have troubles ... But all these threads are out of date! so my question is: does anyone know which usb-vga adapter works on 10.10? (or what you have to do to get a specific adapter working)

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Can Only Get 1 Video Adapter To Work At The Same Time

Jul 12, 2011

With out going into 2 much detail at this point this is my issue.

I have installed unbuntu 11.04. I have 3 screens. 2 are attached to a ATi adapter and 1 screen is a sandy bridge video adapter.

I have already used the forums a lot to reach this point.

When i change my bios to set the primary adapter to sandy bridge, I can only get 1 screen to work.

When I set my bios to point to the Ati adapter as primary, then only the 2 screens connected to that adapter work.

How do I get both video adapters and all 3 screens to work?

I have run out of ideas on what my next step should be.

Ati adapter is a Radeon HD 4800 Series. The Sandy bridge one HD Graphics Family

Ubuntu Multimedia :: New 'compatible' Usb Video Adapter Not Working

Jul 15, 2011

I got my UGA video adapter in, when purchasing it I saw on its requirements that is showed it had linux support. However, when plugged it in and restarting no image but the default green image was shown. All wires are check and are plugged in. However, I am not seeing on the computer monitor and no 2nd monitor is found on the monitor settings. Also I would like to note that according to a little research, is that the usb video adapter uses displaylink. I am using Ubuntu 11.04, classic ubuntu and 2D unity desktop.

I am running 2 Radeon 4870 Cards. Only one adapter will show at a time. I am used to Having 4 monitors and the max amount of Monitors it will allow me to have are two.

It does recognise the Second Adapter when I go into the Catalyst Control (it shows the option for Cross Firing) and it shows both adapters when I do:

I have tried:

Code:

The closest I had was that my main two monitors showed the splash page when the other two monitors on the other adapter were displayed. So It did switch once... But I have yet get all four monitors to work.

Debian Multimedia :: DisplayLink USB Graphic Adapter With Intel I915

Jun 6, 2014

I'm trying to set up an HP DisplayLink USB graphic adapter on Debian 6 to be paired with the notebook's integrated Intel i915 video card. I use a custom 3.11.1 kernel in which the options for VGA arbitration, fbdev framebuffer and DisplayLink driver are enabled as built-in, not as modules.

The device works and I'm able to correctly run an X session on a DVI monitor connected to my notebook thru this USB graphic adapter. However, I'm still not able to use both the DisplayLink device and the integrated Intel i915 at the same time under X, with the purpose to extend the desktop area over the two screens, side by side.

During a boot, if the DisplayLink adapter is detected over the USB cable, the X-server's Intel driver is repudiated as shown in the logs below, and the main notebook's screen stops working with X. (nonetheless, it still functions on the "Alt-F1" text terminal).

Relevant portion of /var/log/Xorg.0.log
In particular, it shows: [ 2509.084] (II) UnloadModule: "intel"
Code: Select all[  2509.061] (II) FBDEV: driver for framebuffer: fbdev
[  2509.061] (II) intel: Driver for Intel Integrated Graphics Chipsets: i810,

        E7221 (i915), 915GM, 945G, 945GM, 945GME, Pineview GM, Pineview G,

[Code] ....

In case it is required, this is the relevant excerpt of my xorg.conf. In my full xorg.conf file installed locally, no other options deal with graphics or screens.

Code: Select all# All down here is required for DisplayLink
# Depth must be 16 bits for all the screens to support DisplayLink
Section "Device"
    Identifier  "IntelVideo"
    Driver      "intel"

Ubuntu Networking :: Buffalo WLI-UC-GN USB Adapter?

Apr 24, 2010

I just purchased Buffalo Nfiniti Wireless USB Adapter (WLI-UC-GN) but have no idea how to get it to work in Ubuntu. My previous adapter (a D-Link) just had to be plugged in and it was ready to go. The WLI-UC-GN adapter lights up (stays solid though), but no wireless networks are found. I believe Ubuntu sees the adapter, it just isn't working with Ubuntu.

I have read a few other posts but them a little confusing. If any one could please help me and keep it simple (I'm fairly new to Ubuntu); I would be grateful. By the way, I just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 from 9.10 last night hoping I am also using WICD Network Manager because I heard it's better than the native manager.

Ubuntu :: ComplactFlash Adapter For PC Card?

Nov 9, 2010

I'm setting up my laptop with Lubuntu LTS (10.10 causes trouble on this machine). I have an SIIG CompactFlash card adapter for the PC-Card bay, which is handy for saving files now and then. The usual story: it works great in Windows but *buntu doesn't recognize it--whether it's in the drive on bootup or whether I insert it later. It just never shows in Thunar or PCManFM (it has a 1GB CF card inserted). Is there something I should be doing that I haven't been? lspci (with the CF adapter inserted prior to bootup) gives me:

Ubuntu :: Compatible AMD-64 PCI Or USB Wifi Adapter

Dec 7, 2010

Having moved my computers into a "new" office in my house, I have no network cables. Had fun times trying to run a network cable, ultimately stopped due to unknown block in the vertical wall and fear of drilling through something important. I have strong WIFI signal to this room.

I tried plugging in my Netgear WPN111, didn't work. Works on my Win7 box, and I need one on that anyway, so I'd prefer to get another wifi card, be it a PCI, PCIE, or USB dongle. I would prefer the USB dongle since I could then use it elsewhere if need be. I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit. The cpu is an Intel quad-core 920, with 8GB ram.

Ubuntu :: Can't Recognize The Wireless Adapter

Dec 16, 2010

I installed ubuntu 10.04 LTS on my netbook a few months ago. So, obviously, i had to go through all those wireless troubleshooting guides. Well, it didnt quite get me anywhere. I cant seem to find my wireless adapter. I 've tried lspci, lsusb, but nothing comes up. So i cant even beggin to fix the problem. I 'd appreciate it if someone could help. Maybe point out which one my wireless adapter is? This is the -lspci output.

Quote:

00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

[code]...

And here is the lsusb output.

Quote:

Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

[code]...

Is it possible that ubuntu cant even recognize my adapter? 'Cause my wireless works fine on Windows.

I have tried a couple of wireless adapters (USB dongles) but none of them work all that good on Ubuntu. I keep loosing connexion when on Ubuntu while on Windows (dual boot) there never seems to be any problems, so signal strength is probably not the issue. I bet it's a drivers problem so what I want to know is which adapters work really really good/great/fantastic on Ubuntu?
