I'm trying to create a MP3 cd ( files are located in separate partition ) using k3b, but unable to add folder which has lots of sub-folders inside it. How can I add multiple folders at once using a click?
I received a popcorn hour set top box for Xmas, and I am trying to figure out the best way to convert my extensive DVD collection to MKV files to play on the PCH.
I know I could just create an ISO of the DVD, but that would take up 4-8 gig per movie, where from what I've read, MKV offers GREAT audio and video quality at a fraction of the space.
Is there any software packages out there for linux that would allow me to rip my DVD's to MKV? if so, will they allow me to just rip the movie part of the disc, and not the extra's or menu?
I have tried a few methods and have not been able to burn a dvd yet. I can create the files that would go on the dvd. I first created a slide show using OpenShot. I saved it as a avi. First off, is this the correct format? Also, I have other files from other methods that end in .mov. Is this the correct format?
Can I combine the two formats of .avi and .mov on the same dvd ( have not even gotten to this point yet, but figured I might as well ask up front )? To burn the dvd, I tried qdvdauthor. It crashed on me after I autogrouped two files. Also, I tried k3b and DeVeDe. I was able to create files, but I still could not get them onto a dvd. I tried to take the files from k3b and DeVeDe and create a DVD in Brasero. Brasero just closes. No error, no success message.
How do I get files on a dvd in Ubuntu? I would even be happy with tutorials or links of software that was worked. Also, I will don't know how to get an audio cd burned in Ubuntu yet.
I have been tasked with the job of finding a way to create a video chat application on Linux to use with our health software. We are basically just wanting to add a video / audio component to the system. I have been using Ubuntu a long time and have decided to use it as our platform for the new software. We currently use Emblaze VCON with our software on Windows and I want to eliminate the need for Windows completely. We supply the hardware so if I can get good quality video chat integrated into our software then I am all set.
I have been playing with some apps like vlc, cheese and luvcview. I am quite impressed with the video quality I am getting so I know Linux can give our users a great chat experience. I even tried Skype 2.0 beta and that worked great too.
I see the software working just like Yahoo or MSN does. I provide a list of users and whether they are online and when you double click on their name they get a ring and prompt to accept the incoming call from "Joe". If there is an engine already in place that we are free to use and bundle with our paid product then that would be great. I am really ignorant on GPL licensing so I want to be careful on what we do. Also, I think this method is best for the connection... I like the idea of a server which receives input from all clients and tracks their online status but when you make a call to the other person it communicates p2p style to minimize hops and server load. We will be controlling the firewalls on the hardware but not what this hardware may be behind, ie. Router - so I guess I need something that can tunnel through / around such obstacles.
I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction on what I could use to do this and also not have to worry about licensing and Intellectual property violations. Btw, I don't see the need to modify the software if it can handle the p2p chat out of box and do it well. I will write the components to handle online / offline status if the "engine" doesn't handle this.
I was reading some threads this morning and saw mention of the envy script. I wondered if it would make a big difference in graphics (nothing was wrong just curious is all) and downloaded the script. I ran it and there was only one listing for an ATI driver. I installed it and upon reboot I a notification pops up in place of my desktop. It says something about having to use low-res. The thing is it won't even use low-res. I get a box with three choices on it. Use the default, create a new profile, ***something else I forget*** and none of these logs me into desktop.
I blindly checked through some of the boxes and saw some logs. I'm using my dual-boot to type this message. This is on my R51e that has an ATI X200M card. What do I do?
EDIT: So upon reading some threads it seems I will most likely have to reinstall the OS? Am I allowed to throw a temper tantrum here???
I implore anyone who knows how to remove that 8.66***some other numbers*** driver and go back to the default one! I don't think I'll be mucking around with these types of things again!
I'm trying to create a DVD with K3b, I encoded a DIVx MP4 file to vob, but i need to create the iFO and BUP files if that is correct? is it possible in any way to create iFO & BUP files?
I've tried Lives, KDenlive, Avidmux, Openshot, Pitivi, and Cinelerra, and I cannot figure out how to merge two movies into a single movie. Cinelerra no doubt has this ability due to its complexity, it just really needs a UI overhaul and lessons in usability since it takes forever just to figure out how to do basic things with it.
Someone made a script to use gStreamer to combine videos here but even after installing the ugly plugins from the multiverse repo on Ubuntu 10.10 so that I have x264enc, I still get the Code:
Pipeline is PREROLLING ...of doom, which just sits there waiting and isn't actually doing anything, a common problem with gStreamer apparently...
If mencoder can do the same thing I haven't figured out how.
Does anyone know how to edit movie frames so that you can stick the second video into the same frame on any video editor for Linux out there, or know of a way to use a command line encoder to do so?
I have two 1080p movies that I'd love to be able to merge, creating either one 3840x1080 movie or a 1920x2160 movie.
You'd think there would be more Linux users out there using dual cameras to create 3D movies. Having such a tool is necessary to get this done so that they can be displayed on a 3D TV, or by one of the new fledgling Linux 3D movie players (when is VLC, Totem, or MPlayer going to pick up this support?).
I've made it my new years resolution to sort out my video collection
I know totem can create a png montage with the frames of a video, however, I've only been able to create one at a time. If i told you i have 621 videos to deal with, you can understand why im asking this question.
Is there anyway in which i can script this, so i can can do the entire directory, name the png the title of the film while my pc is doing nothing?, I've looked at the "man" for totem, and there doesnt seem to be anything in there.
Or alternatively, suggest alternate software, which can do the whole thing without scripting?! I've already looked at GframeCapture, but that doesn't do it also.
Not many people read my previous item (URL...). I guess my title wasn't good. After reading my previous item, can someone answer the following questions:Has anybody have an idea why my lirc directory is removed after every reboot? Or how can I create this dir before lirc is started?
I am using the following command to create a video of a bunch of jpeg files. The problem is that some of the jpegs are portrait and others are landscape. Ffmpeg is stretching the portrait images. Is it possible to maintain aspect ratio of the jpegs... perhaps put black bars on the portrait images using ffmpeg?
I have one cd program, but the cd is corrupted (tried to make backup copy in windows xp with alcohol 52%, but got error at about 95%, and i can not use this cd any more in xp - only for few minutes, then it stops...)
I made few days ago one .iso image, but without cd drive i can not run it (has copyright protection).
The only thing i can do now is to copy cd data. But can i make from this cd folder some virtual cd image in ubuntu, which i could transform into .iso image (using alcohol 52% in xp to avoid copy protection and enable to use it without cd drive)?
After upgrading to Lucid RC I notice that I cannot create a CD image anymore. Brasero gives me three options : two .toc and one .cue file format but neither of them work the CDDAO variant of the .toc format gives me a notification that i need to install some extra packages but even after installing those, the image creation hangs. I used to be able to create .iso images but that option has completely gone...
I would like to start a streaming audio/talk radio show where I can play music during breaks, talk most of the time about current events, and MAYBE even take callers.
I am now using Blogtalkradio, but the streaming and archiving quality os so terrible that I want to move up into creating my own talk show network.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04, 64 bit
This is a good example of what I would like to do: The Global Reality Show...the guy uses Sam Broadcaster and pays a "stream bill" due every month, and you can download archives from a server linked to his website or click the application buttons for ways to get his stream:[url]
Now I heard of this thing called IDJC, which I have installed, but I do not have the faintest idea of how to use it, let alone get jackd running properly. It just complains and stops. Nor have I EVER used Sam Broadcaster or anything like it. When it comes to this thing, I'm a complete newbie. Other people on other forums say you can use Shoutcast and VLC and bypass Jackd and IDJC completely.
How to set up your own internet radio station in Linux? I understand its alot more complicated than windows.
I have a very big image directory: One image per minute, whole a year, captured from a webcam. Now I want to make a video (15 or 24FPS) with all the webcam captures, to see how it changed during this period. I've tried automotion, but it makes a very low quality video, besides it blocks with lots of images. I've also tried dvd-slideshow, but it's not possible to make a more-than-1FPS video.
I also need to change the date in each webcam's images, because they are wrong, so it needed to overlay a little layout with the right date for each image, is that possible to manage within some application? Preferibly shell applications which supports lots of Gb of information (anyway I always could make little videos and then glue them)
Does anyone have a solution that actually works for creating video DVDs from beginning to end? My requirements are pretty simple, I would think. I need to take video from an NTSC DVD (which I made from 8mm analog tape), edit it, create a menu, and burn it. It doesn't have to be fancy. It just has to work. The total project is a little over 1 hour of video. I have reasonable computer power for this.
That doesn't seem like such a difficult task, but it actually requires using up to four different mutually incompatible programs, each of which has nearly infinite options, a huge number of intermediate file types, and infinite ways to fail. If there are intermediate files to be written, I need to know EXACTLY what files and formats to use, and what packages must be installed to use those formats. I don't care if the programs are KDE or Gnome (even a command line might work if the procedure is clear-cut).
The task consists of four parts: * Rip or import an ordinary video from DVD. (This was made by a hardware DVD recorder). * Edit videos. Create clips, cut, past, move, fade.
let's say I've got one .avi video with a film with its original audio language (e.g. english) and another one .avi video with the same film but with a second audio language (e.g. re-dubbed in italian). Is it possible to get only one .avi video with the film and the two audio languages selectable?
I'm trying to install a new ubunto server , to create a video streaming website , and live legal channel broadcasting. what all I should install in my server to broadcast my channels. Channel stream uses windows media player or flash player. Dynamic content can be managed with PHP programming language How do justin Tv or livestream , get video from users to broadcast channels ? [URL]
My 1st and only grandson turned 1 year old and we have taken about 1 million pics of him. I wanted to make a video from pictures taken in the past year. The first one is an ultra sound picture. The last one was taken this last Saturday. I have 153 12 MPixel pictures in a folder. They are named C001.jpg - C153.jpg (I can rename them if needed).
I had noticed mencoder or ffmpeg can create movies from jpegs. But, I didn't think about the frames per second. Would I need to make like 20 copies of each picture and then make it like 10 FPS? or something like that? Optimally, I would like to have a video where each picture lasts for 8-10 seconds or so and I would be able to add a song as audio. (I think I know how to use mencoder to add the audio).
There is a nice package wxCam that used to be included in the opensuse (last one was, I think 10.3). Or perhaps I am wrong and it was from the Packman repo. Who maintains these packages?
I installed it from source and it must have ended up installing about 200MB of dependencies and dependencies of dependencies. I am not knowledgeable enough to create an rpm (checkinstall does not seem to be able to create an rpm).
I want to create a few audio cd's and the only burning software I have is K3b. But when I open it a window is displaying that says there is a system configuration problem and literally saying:
Mp3 Audio Decoder plugin not found. K3b could not load or find the Mp3 decoder plugin. This means that you will not be able to create Audio CDs from Mp3 files. Many Linux distributions do not include Mp3 support for legal reasons. Solution: To enable Mp3 support, please install the MAD Mp3 decoding library as well as the K3b MAD Mp3 decoder plugin (the latter may already be installed but not functional due to the missing libmad). Some distributions allow installation of Mp3 support via an online update tool (e.g. SuSE's YOU).
I would like to get f-spot to create e-mails with reduced versions of photos and find that it almost works:
- f-spot opens up thunderbird - a reduced resolution of the photo is created in /tmp
but it fails to attach to the e-mail. I have googled this and have checked settings in with gconf-editor and made sure that thunderbird is the default e-mail and that delete_timeout_seconds is set high but this does not seems to .
Does anyone out there have any other idea what might be causing the problem? Once I get this working then it will be an extremely comfortable way to send correctly-sized photos.
I installed debian 8.1, network install on a ThinkPad T60. When I right click the Desktop, I don't get "Create New -> link to application" and other links. In mint 17.1, I get a Menu with all links. I want to create a link to seamonkey with an icon on desktop.
I have a customized XP installation disk created for my company. However, my office does not require several of the applications that are installed by default. Also, some configuration settings are incorrect. I have extracted the XP installation files and can perform an install using those files from a running system, but I cannot boot from the CD.
I have tried just about every suggestion I can find on the net except purchasing a third-party burning application to do this. I tried burning both CDs and DVDs using floppy boot images, but XP will not install in a "DOS environment". I've also tried ripping the boot sector directly from a bootable CD/DVD and using that without success. Finally, I ripped ISO images and tried ripping the boot sector from those, also without success. I've also tried various file system type settings in K3b, including Joliet, Linux/Windows, UDF, and DOS compatible, all without success. Surely there must be a way to do this?
PS--I tried posting this to the K3b mailing list first but was rejected, even after creating an account with Sourceforge!? Didn't want to have to submit a support request just to submit a support request.
I'm trying to use the VirtualBox OSE for some windows programs and i'm using a netbook with Debian Linux Squeeze. I haven't found anything on how to create a USB drive with windows using debian to create the disk. Does anyone know anything and or have a good website that would hopefully be useful or program?
