After making the switch, all audio programs are working just fine except for Audacious. When i try to play audio, i get 00:00 and no playing. The output plugin is ALSA and the audio device is UA-25EX. I don't understand why it's not playing the audio.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Nautilus No Longer Plays MP3s On Mouse-over

I just noticed that after upgrading to 10.04 Lucid Desktop, nautilus no longer plays MP3 files on mouse-over. It does recognize the file as a music file as it displays the music note icon in the comic balloon next to the music note file icon when the mouse is positioned over an MP3 file, however no sound is played. If I double-click the MP3 file, totem is invoked and plays the MP3 file just fine.

Debian Multimedia :: Embedded Flash Videos Crashing Every Browser

Nov 20, 2015

Iceweasel, Konqueror, makes no difference. Embedded flash videos make them crash every time. I had to install Flash Control on Iceweasel just to make it usable.

[pid 9417] --- SIGALRM {si_signo=SIGALRM, si_code=SI_KERNEL, si_value={int=1851877730, ptr=0x6e616962}} ---

[pid 9444] +++ killed by SIGALRM +++
[pid 9520] +++ killed by SIGALRM +++

The kicker is I can't recall ever installing flash support in the first place.

I'm bitterly regretting the upgrade to 8.2. It's just one damn thing after another.

Debian :: Viewing Embedded QuickTime With Iceweasel

May 11, 2009

I've got a laptop running i386 Debian Lenny, and I was able to get Iceweasel to run flash videos by installing packages via debian-multimedia. However, now I need to get embedded streaming (real time) QuickTime videos to display (as part of a project at work). Is there something I should install from the repos for that? Or do I need a Firefox plug-in from the net? I saw a few libs in the repos that seem related, but I wasn't sure if that was what I needed.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Chromium Cache Videos Split Into Data Files?

Aug 14, 2011

streaming videos i sometime want to save them, after watching. generally they're saved as flash videos or mpeg-4 video, which is all fine.however periodically they're split-up and saved in smaller chunks with names like data_1, data_2, data_3 etc. these range from 14.0 - 44.0 MB. the file in question (currently i'm trying to save from the cache) was from divxden, or possibly divxstage.eu either way i think it used the totem plugin.so, my question is: does anyone know if these files can be stuck back together, or if this feature can be changed so streamed files are kept intact?

Ubuntu :: Chromium Doesn't Open Embedded Flash Always

Jun 26, 2011

By a fifty fifty chance chromium doesn't open embedded flash elements. Audio works but the embedded flash element shows just black.

Refreshing the page fix this again by %50 chance.

But there's no problem with Firefox because I think it uses the Adobe Flash Player (the one in the repo) but Chromium uses the an built-in flash player.

Is there a way to fix this problem? Or a way to disable Chromium's built-in flash player and use the Adobe's flash player?

Ubuntu :: PDF Viewer To Play Embedded Videos?

Dec 12, 2010

I'm currently working on a presentation using the Beamer Latex class and I would like to embed a video in the presentation. The problem is that I cannot seem to find a PDF viewer that allows me to play these videos. Does anyone have any suggestions for a PDF viewer that does let me play videos, ideally within the PDF? I've tried using Evince and Acrobat Reader 9, but I've had issues with both. Evince doesn't allow you to play embedded videos in the PDF, but it does allow you to open an external media player by clicking a link. However, this doesn't work in presentation mode, which sort of defeats what I'm trying to do. I know a bug report has been filed on Launchpad for this problem, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Acrobat 9 also doesn't allow me to play embedded videos. It *does* allow me to open an external player in fullscreen mode, but the video always opens up behind the presentation, which means I have to alt-tab to the video.Kind of unprofessional. I've heard some people have had success with Okular. I'd rather not have to install all the KDE dependencies only to find Okular doesn't work Alternatively, does anyone know of any workarounds for either the issues in Acrobat or in Evince?

Fedora :: Thunderbird No Longer Switches To Firefox On Embedded Link

On F12 if I did the above the focus would switch to Firefox once a new tab was opened and the site was accessed. Now the focus remains on the message and the tab for Firefox on the bottom panel just flashes. Is there a way to get the old behaviour back? I've checked both apps preferences as well as gnome's preferred apps but nothing changes. I am using the same profile folders from F12 as well as all of my app settings in /home.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Editing Quicktime .mov Files?

Jun 4, 2010

I created a quicktime .mov movie file in iMovie on a Mac (that is not available anymore) and I want to 1) play & 2) edit the movie. I'd be happy to use a different format if I can figure out how to change it. Has anyone else done this?

Edit: If you skip down to post #16 you'll see I discovered it actually isn't a matter of editing a .mov file, but it turns out I don't have a properly exported quicktime .mov file. Instead I have (I'm not sure but I think its iMovie ver. 4.) 1) an .iMovieProj text file that lists the cuts by frame in and frame out, 2) an .mov file that isn't the complete file I thought it was and 3) a folder of all the clips that are in Apple's Quicktime DV format. In this thread people taught me about transcoding from the Apple's Quicktime DV format to liberated formats easier to work with. Given this knowledge and since I have a list of the cuts I'm asking if people could recommend a Linux video editor that would be easy to enter the tedious frame in, frame out info so I could reassemble the video.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: 11.3 GNOME, TOTEM And BANSHEE No Sound On .mp4 And Quicktime?

Jul 17, 2010

I just did a fresh install of openSUSE 11.3 32bit GNOME on my notebook and everything runs fine...yet

But there is an issue with the sound playback on mp4's and quicktime (apple trailers) that I was not able to fix.

I added the Packman 11.3 repo via Yast -> Software Repositories -> Add... -> Community Repositories

Then I used zypper to get the related gstreamer-plugins ffmpeg faad vlc w32codec-all libmp4v2...

So far the media playback seem good, except the issue of "no sound with gstreamer related media players on quicktime and mp4"...

I set all available/related/installed packages to "Packman" (Yast -> Software Management), did zypper refresh + zypper up but I am simply not able to get sound from gstreamer...It works fine in VLC though!

Some google and forum research showed that it's an issue that has occurred over the recent years but I could not found a proper working solution.

If I run totem from the terminal I get the following output (plus a windows asking for permission to search for the required codec 'MPEG-4 AAC Decoder'...but it is not able to find one!):

Code:
# totem --debug --play TV-20100717-2030-1301.h264.mp4
(totem:6888): Totem-DEBUG: Received SaveYourself(SmSaveLocal, !Shutdown, SmInteractStyleNone, !Fast) in state idle
(totem:6888): Totem-DEBUG: Setting initial properties
(totem:6888): Totem-DEBUG: Sending SaveYourselfDone(True) for initial SaveYourself
(totem:6888): Totem-DEBUG: Received SaveComplete message in state save-yourself-done
(totem:6888): Totem-DEBUG: totem_playlist_add_one_mrl (): TV-20100717-2030-1301.h264.mp4 (null) (null)
code....

The last Message is interesting "All missing plugins are blacklisted..." hmmm I did not blacklist any plugins...where can you see these blacklist? Is that the point, the plugin is there but blacklisted?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: DVD .iso Made In K3b Plays On TV But Not XP?

Mar 12, 2010

I have a home movie that is currently in Video_TS format (.bup/.vob files). I burned the movie using K3b and it works awesome in both Ubuntu and on my DVD player with the television. BUT the thing will not play in XP! I understand this is because XP is the work of the devil, but that is not important. The disc shows 4Gb used (in XP) but only gives the title. I even made sure hidden files were visible, just in case somehow the movie was invisible. I have tried burning my DVD directly from the video_ts files in K3b, and first making an .iso file, then going over to XP to burn the DVD using Nero...annnnnd same thing. I can watch them on the TV and 'buntu but not XP.

What have I done wrong? Advice? Need more info? invariably someone wants to ask the irrelevant question "Why do you need to watch it in Windows?"
