So I was trying to upgrade kupfer when it told me it couldn't, as python-keyring was a virtual package and could not be installed. I'm using Karmic, so the package python-keyring is not available, although it is in Lucid. How would I go about upgrading kupfer/installing python-keyring??

The keyring was set up when the laptop was running 8.04 (or possibly 7.10) but I managed to remove it some time ago. Now it has come back. How can I re-set the keyring or remove it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I boot up my password is requested three separate times by the keyring. Sometimes if I have left my computer to boot up it will actually be requested four times. I get the impression it relates to start up programs, for example if I leave it so that it requests the password a fourth time, at the same time the wifi connection settings pop up requesting the wifi password. I remember having a similar problem before and I think I was able to set a program as always having access to the keyring once logged in, but I can't remember or find how to do this. The programs that are maximized on startup are; transmission, liferea. Docky and gnome-do are also arranged to load on startup.

I'm using centos5 hiab with qmail and apache and i'm trying to install Mailman via: ./configure --prefix=/home/admin/mailman --with-mail-gid=qmail --with-cgi-gid=apache
and I get the error:

I'm using kupfer 2.06, which is a tremendous little piece of software. The hitch is that when I use the evolution plugin to compose a new message, I'm only provided one email address per contact. I'm wondering if there's a way to designate a default or primary email address for each contact or some other way to influence this behavior. Not sure if the key to the issue lies with kupfer, its evolution plugin, or evolution.

After many trials of this and that I removed python-gtk2 and so also ubuntu desktop. But was unable to get it back. Now I cannot even shut down. While it is not possible to install desktop or anything else, would it be possible to fix this by upgrading the whole system to 10.04 (10.10?)? Would it fix python installation. How could I do it. Some info tells to change sources.list and run apt-get upgrade, but some tell not to do so.

I tried to start the application and then the system crashed and showed a message a problem has occured and it could not be repaired by Fedora itself. I had to re-login to fix the issue. When i try to re-login everytime this message appears... like an endless circle.

I have some tools that seem to have issues with Python 2.5 but are OK (on other systems) with Python 2.6. So, I was considering upgrading my Python interpreter to the current 2.6.4, but I know that in various RH distros, this was strongly discouraged. Is it OK to replace my current Python 2.5.2 on F10? If so, should that be done from source or can I do this cleanly through yum?

I just finished upgrading the last of 3 machines from F10 to F12 using preupgrade (all i686). Except for a non-critical hplip issue, all went well with the first two machines upgraded 1 week and 3 days ago, but some python F10->F12 updates were missing on the third machine that I upgraded yesterday, leaving yum inoperable. Thanks to good yum error messages, I was able to resolve the problem (I think), but I thought I should post to check if mine is a unique or common problem, to enquire if it may have resulted from some of the python packages being in "update transit" in the repositories, and/or whether something like this can be avoided in future? Details follow:
Upgrade appeared to go well except for some dejavu font dependency issues (experienced on all three machines) and libcrypto.so.7 missing for eet-1.2.2-4... (third machine). However, there was a boot message that some python module (can't remember which) was not present for some nvidia requirement, although video driver worked fine. When testing yum: First it complained that libpython2.6.so.1.0 was not present. Since that module conflicted (identified by rpm) with various python 2.5.*f10 packages that that were still on board, I copied libpython2.6.so.1.0 (from a current f12 rpm) into /usr/lib manually. Second, yum complained that urlgrabber was not available, so rpm with the latest python-urlgrabber for f12 solved that.
Third, yum complained that pycurl was not available, so rpm with the latest python-pycurl solved that. Yum now works! and boot message is gone! I ran "yum install python-libs" to make sure that any necessary dependencies were met following my manual installation of libpython2.6.so.1.0, which resulted in a bunch of python dependencies being upgraded as a result.
I just installed 11.2 and have this warning in messages:
gnomesu-pam-backend: gkr-pam: couldn't unlock 'login' keyring: 255
Also, there's no login screen and I can't remember how to configure for that.
I wanted to give kupfer a try, though I had to build it from source as it doesn't appear to be in the repos. The building seemingly went fine and installed, but I get these error(s) when I try to run the program:

Very happy with new 10.4 install, however there is a nagging password prompt every time I boot. At first I thought it was the wireless but I have that automated and it asks for the password well after the internet connection is established. I am pretty sure it relates to the passwords for Twitter, Facebook etc that I gave it to use the new tools in 10.4 Is there any way to give it permanent permision so it doesn't ask me at boot up? I would hate to have to stop using the nice new tool because of this.

I did a "zupper up" today and ever since doing that, the computer has not asked me to enter my default keyring password when booting up. The only way for me to connect to my wireless is to enter the WPA security code every time and when loading Pidgin I have to enter all my passwords. This is very annoying!!!! I have deleted my default.keyring file, restarted and it is not asking me to enter a new password.
