View 8 RepliesI have upgraded a laptop to 9.04 (Jaunty) but I now have an annoying keyring window popping up asking for a password for connection to the wireless router. The keyring was set up when the laptop was running 8.04 (or possibly 7.10) but I managed to remove it some time ago. Now it has come back. How can I re-set the keyring or remove it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I was trying to upgrade kupfer when it told me it couldn't, as python-keyring was a virtual package and could not be installed. I'm using Karmic, so the package python-keyring is not available, although it is in Lucid. How would I go about upgrading kupfer/installing python-keyring??
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I boot up my password is requested three separate times by the keyring. Sometimes if I have left my computer to boot up it will actually be requested four times. I get the impression it relates to start up programs, for example if I leave it so that it requests the password a fourth time, at the same time the wifi connection settings pop up requesting the wifi password. I remember having a similar problem before and I think I was able to set a program as always having access to the keyring once logged in, but I can't remember or find how to do this. The programs that are maximized on startup are; transmission, liferea. Docky and gnome-do are also arranged to load on startup.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use VNC on my headless desktop server that's running lucid, but I can only use SSH because a pop asking me to unlock the keyring shows up every time I try to use VNC. I don't have a monitor for that desktop, so I was wondering, is there any way to remove the keyring/to automatically unlock it during autologin? I don't remember what a site I found it on, but I used this to remove my keyring yesterday. It's no longer working today.

I'm asking this in the right place. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and recently started getting a pop-up similar to the following at every boot up: Login keyring failed Your login keyring did not succeed. Enter login keyring here: That's not [exactly] what it says, but very similar. I should probably add that I have not set up any different 'user profiles' or whatever they're called, but am the only one using this PC...at least, at the present time. Again, this only started a couple of weeks ago and I don't know what I did to start it nor what to do to stop it. I guess it's not extremely painful to have to type my password in every time, but a PITA nevertheless.

I downloaded Adobe Air, both the rpm and the .bin versions. First I tried the rpm, it went through the motions of installing but just disappeared. then I tied the .bin, got tot the installer, accepted the license, entered my root password, but it stopped installing with "an error occurred. Adobe AIR could not be installed. Install either Gnome Keyring or KDE KWallet before installing Adobe AIR". I opened Kwallet and tried again, but to no avail. I am running OS11.4 64 bit. What can I do to get this thing working?

This is most likely a transient problem, please try again later. I tried again several times in different days and it is the same. I have 10.4 recently updated from my original installation of 9.10. I think it was not a pre-release, I did it automatically from the website and it took a long time. As far as I know, all I have installed is official, except perhaps Skype itself.
My .zshrc and .zsh/functions/prompt_fhsm_setup have been the same for a long time. I recently upgraded from Hardy to 9.10 and have started having a problem with my prompt. View 1 Replies View RelatedI just did an upgrade of 9.10 amd64 system to 10.04. I'm pretty sure I messed up the grub2 upgrade.

I currently have 3 HD's on the system, all identical, with two of them in a software RAID.
Now, I *can* boot into 10.04 - by pressing F8 on startup, I can select the second of the three HDs, and it will start up normally.
When I do start up, everything seems to work fine, but whenever I reboot, I get the same grub error, and have to manually hit F8 and select the second drive.
I just upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 using the upgrade option in the Update Manager and now my system fails to boot.

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 and did an upgrade yesterday via the Update Manager. Just installed all proposed upgrades. After rebooting, my newest kernel throws an error 16: inconsistent filesystem structure. When I select my previous kernel from the GRUB, no problems. How do I debug this error? Or better yet, how do I fix it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to 10.10 (from 10.04) GRUB has started behaving very oddly. Sometime it work properly, just as usual, sometimes when I select a linux entry from the menu I get an error 16 or 18, sometimes I get an error 16 or 18 before getting to the grub menu, and sometimes the menu does not load at all, instead I am presented with a command prompt (i can then load the menu using the configfile command)

Recently upgraded to 10.10 via Update Manager. After upgrade my Epson Stylus R340 printer wouldn't work. In main menu I went to System->Administration->Printing. Nothing was listed under printers any longer. Clicked Help->Troubleshooting. It suggested to go to System->Administration->Services. No Services menu was listed under System->Administration. In Terminal I ran [sudo lshw], no printer was listed. I then went to the Synaptic Package Manager and searched Epson and checked reinstall on all packages which were installed. The reinstall returned this error "E: gsfonts: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1" followed by several package dependency problems. I then followed the same steps after a search for cups in Synaptic Package Manager. After those packages were reinstalled got the same error, "E: gsfonts: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1". That error was also followed by a list of broken package dependencies. Again I followed the same steps for all gsfonts installed packages. The reinstall produced the same results again.
