Ubuntu :: Iphone Don't Sync Correctly With Rhythmbox?
Dec 6, 2010
I'm an ubuntu user since a year ago. It is the best thing I did no doubt. But, as always, there is some costs doing this. Specifically, My 3G Iphone can't sync correctly with rhythmbox. Though it says that is synchronized and in rhythmbox appears that indeed it is. But when I go to the 3G's play list do not appear anywhere. p.s. Currently I'm using Maverick.
I'm trying to sync my iPhone (3G, 3.1.2) through Rhythmbox on my newly installed Lucid Lynx. While I can access and transfer music files to my iPhone, upon unmounting the iPhone doesn't update the library nor show the music. If I remount it in Rhythmbox, I can play the files from there. In my file manager I can access my iPhone, but I can't either see the iPod_Control directory nor find anything in Music or Playlists folders. BTW, on Karmic Koala I was able to update music on my iPhone, though it would not always update library.
ive spent days figuring out how to sync my iphone 3gs firmware 3.1.3 in ubuntu 10.04. my laptop can detect my iphone, i can actually browse its folder. (i can see photos and music from my phone, i tried to paste some photos in a certain folder and went well, just in ONE folder).
i tried almost all instructions i can find on net, but nothing is working well. i even freshly installed my ubuntu, thinking that i did something wrong in my first attempt. still cant sync music and photos.
i transferred songs already to my phone using itunes in windows (on another laptop). they said that doing this can initialize my iphone, but it didnt work.
I have an iPhone 3GS and Ubuntu 10.04 x64 machine. When I plug in the phone it appears on the desktop.GTKPod opens automatically. When I close it and open RhythmBox, the phone disappears from the desktop.Looking at /var/log/messages, I see nothing about the iPhone being mounted. As an aside, I updated from 9.10 x64 to beta 10.04 x64, then upgraded to release 10.04.
Is it possible to link a folder to GTKpod so that it can automatically update the changes to iPhone that are made to files or folders like tag changes or adding or deleting files?
I have my iPhone synced with iTunes like the rest of the world. I played music music from my iPhone with rythmbox, nd now iTunes doesn't know that my iPhone is even there, and therefor won't sync. Would mounting it to Ubuntu have anything to do with that?
I've noticed there are a few threads started not only here but on other forums asking about gtkpod in KDE I was in the understanding that an iphone cannot sync with KDE as KDE detects it as a camera or an I missing something if so what packages do I need to get it to work in KDE.
I was searching on google for syncing my iphone 3gs in linux. I have seen many forums which say that Rhythmbox and gtkpod are able to sync iphone but I did not find any of them to be very helpful in my case. Any Way syncing iphone in linux so that I don't have to boot to windows.
I can't seem to get my iphone 3gs to sync with banshee. I had it working before upgrading to 11.04. It recognizes the phone but when I try to sync, I get "the mp3 format is not supported by the device and no converter was found to convert it" I've never run into this problem. I thought the iphone supported mp3 files since that's what worked before.
Take a look at this blog I found while searching for methods to sync your music with Ubuntu Natively!!!! AND it works! Take a look at the screenshot attached. STOKED. Below is a link with instructions: [URL]
Since installing Lucid LYNX LTS on my Netbook. (See: [URL] [#136]). Via USB, I can connect my iPhone 3GS. It gives me two simultaneous choices: Open F-Spot and Open Rythmbox. In addition, I can also "Open / Browse Folder". As such, I can view / import photos and videos made on the phone, as well as video PODCASTS. I can also play my music files
What I cannot do: 1) Play / find my purchased audiobooks [decryption not supported] 2) Locate the mp4 videos / movies (NOT encrypted) that I transferred to the phone via iTunes on my MacBook. 3) Send a file via bluetooth to the phone [the Indicator Applet does allow me go go as far as select the file. It gets to the point of "connecting" then "unknown error occurred"
I cannot sync the addressbook, calendar, or notes on the iPhone with my netbook. I have the following libraries installed: ifuse libmobiledevice-utils libmobiledevice0 libplist++1 libplist1 libusbmuxd1 python-imobildevice usbmuxd NOTA BENE: This phone is NOT jail-broken.
I have an iPhone 3GS with Firmware 3.1.3 and I'd like to sync the music over rhythmbox in lucid (64bit).
The phone does mount in nautilus and I can also mount it with ifuse to use it witz gtkpod. However it does not show up (it only blinks and disappears) in the list at the left in rhythmbox though I have MTP and iPod Plugins enabled.
I thought I'd ask after having waited several weeks and none of the gvfsd updates changed anything
Basically, I want to be able to cerate a playlist in Rythmbox and transfer it onto my iPhone. When I try to do this it looks like it syncs, but it never appears on my phone. Normal transferring of songs works fine. Is it possible to do this?I'm using Lucid and firmware v 3.1.3 on an iphone 2g.
So I've seen all the buzz about the new libimobiledevice supporting iphone well enough to get it working with rhytmbox "out of the box".
I've achieved photo sync, internet tethering, and ssh access, but I don't know about music access.. there doesn't seem to be anything happening between rhythmbox and the iphone.
Rhythmbox regocnizes the phone and plays the music on it... but I can't seem to make any changes to that music.
The phone occasionally says "sync in progress" but I haven't pushed any "sync" button as there doesn't seem to be any or any settings for automatic syncing...
I am trying to get my iphone working with Rhythmbox. I have followed the wiki but I fail at the point of creating the sysinfoextended. I can mount the phone in PCmanFM and read the data on the partition but it doesn't show in Ryhthmbox. Has anyone else managed this?
When my Iphone had the 4.2.1 firmware it mounted just fine with Ubuntu, OK sure it took a download of libimobiledevice1 and some other libraries but it worked, and sync'd just fine with Rhythmbox. But, as all manufacturers do, they have released a superior new OS for the phone which fixes all those annoying little bug. I have read from 4.3.2 they changed the itunes database version to an updated one. Now this is fine if you have a windows or mac machine running the latest version of itunes but if like all of us here you have an Ubuntu machine for a very valid reason... i.e you wanted a better operating system that wasnt going to cost the earth.
well, you are screwed as they have locked the third part access to the device's itunes library. I have followed long procedures trying to hack into the phone, modifying certain files, creating a hashfile and dropping this into a system folder to fool the phone into thinking it has the 4.2.1 database still but to no avail. Now my iphone is jailbroken, for the very same reasons as to why have an ubuntu machine, a good peice of hardware with good software that i can customise to run how i see fit, this error is the same with my friends non jaibroken phone and my wifes newly updated iopd..
Surely someone out there who has an ipod, iphone 3gs who are running 4.3.2 or higher has figured out how to fix this annoying "update" problem. The phone mounts fine and i can see a documents drive and the main iphone itself, so it is being recognised but im getting errors when trying ti access the phone in ANY linux media software... They all see the phone but cant recognise the database.
I have ubuntu 9.10. I want to sync my ipod touch to ubuntu via rhyytm box as I heard ITunes 9 does not work even via wine. Or shall I wait ubuntu 10.04 LTS is out does that support it? I found this software for ubuntu for ipod and iphone called ifuse no idea how to get that going or anything.
I'm new to ubuntu and I was a little concerned the jump over would be a little complicated. I was happy to see that almost everything on my external hd worked perfectly and rhythmbox plays all of the music files I have. I attempted to add music to my ipod (8gb iTouch specifically). It seemed that none of the music would come up on the iPod, even though rhythmbox showed that the files were on there. After a little time (and if I did something other than wait, I'm unaware) the files popped up on my iPod. Later in the week, I tried to add more music, with similar problems. I've removed and added the files several times and allowed the iPod to fully sync, but they still won't come up. I don't understand why it would work sometimes and not other times.
I'm literally banging my head against my computer desk now, because i'm really frustrated about Banshee Or Rhythembox not putting all my songs onto the ipod. I have 930 songs, and they only put 303 songs onto the Ipod. I manually put them in, and still wont work. This is really upsetting. It used to work so perfectly in 10.04, but it's not workin in 10.10.
I just got a Samsung U5, and although I could drag and drop, it's not as good as syncing. I've tried using both rhythmbox and banshee to sync my music from a playlist. It only happens when I set it to MTP, that both programs tend to crash. If I set it to MCS none of them will even detect the device, but will both work fine as music players. So far, rhythmbox just freezes and won't let me do anything with the device. Banshee only syncs half of the music files and comes up with this error. LIBMTP_Send_Track_From_File_Descripto():subcall to LIBMTP_Send_FIle_From_File failed I've tried several times and it'll only add a couple of more songs.
I've started using Banshee to sync my ipod lately. There are a few issues with it that I can bear - having to killall natutilus every time I reconnect my ipod being one. But I'm getting a bit peeved with Banshee being apparently incapable of syncing my album artwork correctly. It downloads the correct artwork perfectly within banshee, but at the minute about half the albums on my ipod have REM Monster cover art beside them. Is there any way I can force Banshee to reset the artwork?
I have a couple of .avi clips in which the sound plays 2 seconds before the video, so I need a software that can re-sync the sound correctly with the video with affecting the video/audio quality, what program can I use? What is the name of this feature in video editing programs? I am using Ubuntu 10.04. I noted that the Multimedia & video forum have only threads about problems in playing videos & cards drivers problems.
It seems that I can see my BlackBerry Curve (Verizon) on Rhythm Box...but I can't (for the life of me) figure out how to sync the music on Rhythmbox to my BlackBerry...(see screenshot)
I have a .is_audio_player file in the root of the BlackBerry device as well...
