I can't seem to get my iphone 3gs to sync with banshee. I had it working before upgrading to 11.04. It recognizes the phone but when I try to sync, I get "the mp3 format is not supported by the device and no converter was found to convert it" I've never run into this problem. I thought the iphone supported mp3 files since that's what worked before.

I have an iPhone 3GS and Ubuntu 10.04 x64 machine.When I plug in the phone it appears on the desktop.GTKPod opens automatically.When I close it and open RhythmBox, the phone disappears from the desktop.Looking at /var/log/messages, I see nothing about the iPhone being mounted.As an aside, I updated from 9.10 x64 to beta 10.04 x64, then upgraded to release 10.04.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to sync my iPhone (3G, 3.1.2) through Rhythmbox on my newly installed Lucid Lynx. While I can access and transfer music files to my iPhone, upon unmounting the iPhone doesn't update the library nor show the music. If I remount it in Rhythmbox, I can play the files from there. In my file manager I can access my iPhone, but I can't either see the iPod_Control directory nor find anything in Music or Playlists folders. BTW, on Karmic Koala I was able to update music on my iPhone, though it would not always update library.

Specifically, My 3G Iphone can't sync correctly with rhythmbox. Though it says that is synchronized and in rhythmbox appears that indeed it is. But when I go to the 3G's play list do not appear anywhere. p.s. Currently I'm using Maverick.

Naturally i tried, resulting in a music library with all the album artwork mixed up. I've tried to sync a couple of times, even added the repository for libimobiledevice and searched for the newest version (said it was already installed). When trying to sync with banshee (or rythmbox), it says syncing on my screen and on my iphone's screen. After syncing, my iphone updates the library, no new music is discovered. I can also add that banshee discovers 100 extra songs on my iphone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince installing Lucid LYNX LTS on my Netbook. (See: [URL] [#136]). Via USB, I can connect my iPhone 3GS. It gives me two simultaneous choices:
Open F-Spot and Open Rythmbox.
In addition, I can also "Open / Browse Folder". As such, I can view / import photos and videos made on the phone, as well as video PODCASTS. I can also play my music files
What I cannot do:
1) Play / find my purchased audiobooks [decryption not supported]
2) Locate the mp4 videos / movies (NOT encrypted) that I transferred to the phone via iTunes on my MacBook.
3) Send a file via bluetooth to the phone [the Indicator Applet does allow me go go as far as select the file. It gets to the point of "connecting" then "unknown error occurred"
I cannot sync the addressbook, calendar, or notes on the iPhone with my netbook. I have the following libraries installed:

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen my Iphone had the 4.2.1 firmware it mounted just fine with Ubuntu, OK sure it took a download of libimobiledevice1 and some other libraries but it worked, and sync'd just fine with Rhythmbox. But, as all manufacturers do, they have released a superior new OS for the phone which fixes all those annoying little bug. I have read from 4.3.2 they changed the itunes database version to an updated one. Now this is fine if you have a windows or mac machine running the latest version of itunes but if like all of us here you have an Ubuntu machine for a very valid reason... i.e you wanted a better operating system that wasnt going to cost the earth.
well, you are screwed as they have locked the third part access to the device's itunes library. I have followed long procedures trying to hack into the phone, modifying certain files, creating a hashfile and dropping this into a system folder to fool the phone into thinking it has the 4.2.1 database still but to no avail. Now my iphone is jailbroken, for the very same reasons as to why have an ubuntu machine, a good peice of hardware with good software that i can customise to run how i see fit, this error is the same with my friends non jaibroken phone and my wifes newly updated iopd..
Surely someone out there who has an ipod, iphone 3gs who are running 4.3.2 or higher has figured out how to fix this annoying "update" problem. The phone mounts fine and i can see a documents drive and the main iphone itself, so it is being recognised but im getting errors when trying ti access the phone in ANY linux media software... They all see the phone but cant recognise the database.
ive spent days figuring out how to sync my iphone 3gs firmware 3.1.3 in ubuntu 10.04. my laptop can detect my iphone, i can actually browse its folder. (i can see photos and music from my phone, i tried to paste some photos in a certain folder and went well, just in ONE folder).
i tried almost all instructions i can find on net, but nothing is working well. i even freshly installed my ubuntu, thinking that i did something wrong in my first attempt. still cant sync music and photos.
i transferred songs already to my phone using itunes in windows (on another laptop). they said that doing this can initialize my iphone, but it didnt work.

I have 930 songs, and they only put 303 songs onto the Ipod. I manually put them in, and still wont work. This is really upsetting. It used to work so perfectly in 10.04, but it's not workin in 10.10.

Banshee will recognize iPod shuffle 4th gen. It will let me drag songs to iPod and they show up in Banshee as being on my iPod. When I disconnect iPod and hit play, the voice over tells me to please load songs from iTunes.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a Samsung U5, and although I could drag and drop, it's not as good as syncing. I've tried using both rhythmbox and banshee to sync my music from a playlist. It only happens when I set it to MTP, that both programs tend to crash. If I set it to MCS none of them will even detect the device, but will both work fine as music players. So far, rhythmbox just freezes and won't let me do anything with the device. Banshee only syncs half of the music files and comes up with this error.

I've been using banshee for a couple weeks. And it's worked great up until now. This happened one other time, and I reinstalled ubuntu, and it worked fine. Now it's not working again. What's happening is, I plug my ipod in, and banshee recognizes it. But when I try to put music onto it, it says it's syncing, and then I disconnect, and the music isn't on there. I updated podsleuth, but that didn't seem to help.

I'd like to copy podcasts to my android phone through Banshee, but when I set it up to sync entire library, it tries to copy them, and some do work, but I get a bunch of errors for each podcast that say "permission denied." (see screen shot)
I'm not sure how I would go about enabling that permission, or if permitting Banshee to operate with root privileges would solve the problem.
Music, by the way, copies just fine, and the phone is detected wonderfully (it's an Incredible 2, by the way.)
I've started using Banshee to sync my ipod lately. There are a few issues with it that I can bear - having to killall natutilus every time I reconnect my ipod being one. But I'm getting a bit peeved with Banshee being apparently incapable of syncing my album artwork correctly. It downloads the correct artwork perfectly within banshee, but at the minute about half the albums on my ipod have REM Monster cover art beside them. Is there any way I can force Banshee to reset the artwork?

Overview:I have a 5th gen video ipod which I'm trying to load onto my banshee.I was able to do this in the past, but since the upgrade to 10.04 (WHICH IS AWESOME!!) I've been S.O.L. Previously, I had to change some settings in order to get the ipod to sync w banshee, and I'm wondering if that's why I'm blocking it's native ability to sync. I'm trying to remember what changes I've made,but it's been awhile...
Breakdown: - in order to mount the iPod, I have to go to Places>Ipod and select it from the list
- I then open banshee, and the ipod is recognized in my menu
- when I go to load it, it says "loading ipod", which goes indefinitely and never ends...
- in addition, it does not recognize any music/video is on my ipod - only 11.9gb of "other"
...and that's it. I would love to load my new music
