Ubuntu :: Installing Adesso Cybertablet Driver / Photoshop E 7?
Aug 10, 2010
I am new to Ubuntu and need help installing the Cybertablet driver and Photoshop Elements 7 on my computer. I don't know how everything works (yet), so if anyone can help, I would need step-by-step instructions...
I installed Wine, and apparently that is supposed to help use Windows programs on a Linux system, but unfortunately I am very blank on how to use it. I would appreciate any help at all! I love Ubuntu except for this one little thing.
Also, is it possible to run a Windows VM on a Linux? Would that let me use my tablet?

I am currently trying to install adobe photoshop with wine in my computer. I downloaded a torrent copy and everything is working fine with it.. Just one problem... When it starts to initiates the installer, I begin to have problems. The initializer loads fully, but then, when it's done, the initializer goes but it doesn't bring up an installation screen..

I have recently converted to Ubuntu, so I must mention now I am new to Ubuntu. The Ubuntu version I am running is 10.04 I was looking for ways to install Adobe Photoshop CS5, but when I try to run the Setup.exe with WINE, it runs the installing setup, but then after it loads the window closes and it doesn't do anything from that.
Is there any way to fix this at all? As I am starting to miss Photoshop. P.S. I know there is an alternative program such as GIMP, but it takes forever to do something in GIMP which it takes like 1 minute in Photoshop to do. If there is not a fix for this...is there a program that is like Photoshop, but not like GIMP?

An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. contact the application's support team for more info" I have tried re-installing several times now. Even downloading a different version. I am also running it through wine through the following command.. "wine "C:Program FilesPhotoshopPortablePhotoshopCS5Portable.exe"

I am running a Linux server from 2000, I have Fedora12 installed as the OS. I know you can virtualize Windows XP on the system to be able to run Windows programs, but the problem is I My server has only one 1333Mhz Pentium 3 processor and 1G of Ram. granted this is a pretty kick ass computer for the day, but lacking the second processor I'm afraid that I will not be able to run Windows virtualization to support Photoshop CS3. Is there any program out there that runs similar to Photoshop, like windows Digital Image suite 10, that will run smoothly in my Linux Fedora 12 environment? or can I virtualize windows and run the Windows digital image suite 10, without slowing or corrupting my system?

I am trying to install photoshop Elements 5.0 in Wine. The Wine instructions say not to install it as root, among a bunch of other things. My System Settings for Removable Devices is set to automatically mount such devices. My /etc/fstab, which I have messed with, looks like this:
Code:
/dev/sda2 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/sda1 / ext4 defaults 1 1
/dev/sda3 /home ext4 defaults 1 2
/dev/sda5 /mnt/backup ext4 noatime,user_xattr 1 2
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto defaults 1 2

I am using ubuntu 10.10, and I have to install win7 alongside for work, but when I inserted the disc, and started setup. It prompted me to insert the proper driver for my dvd drive. I researched the problem, and apparently it's a problem with Driver Signature Enforcement. To get past it, your suposed to reboot, and hit f8 to go to the startup menu, and disable the check drivers option, but in ubuntu I dont get that option, I think f8 opens grub or something. Is their any solution to this problem that you have encountered? I have done research, and I cant find anything,

I have a Creative Xi-Fi sound card. There is a driver installed currently, but unless my sound is at 100%, everything sounds distorted. My first inclination, as a Windows user, would be to update the driver. So, I downloaded the driver from their site in the form of a .tar.gz. I followed the guide here: [URL] But, as soon as I get to the step where I actually compile it (make), I get errors.
Code:
user@user-XFX-Nforce-680i-LT:~/Desktop/XFiDrv_Linux_Public_US_1.00$ sudo make
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.35-22-generic/build M=/home/user/Desktop/XFiDrv_Linux_Public_US_1.00

Since my windows HDD died, I have been permanently on ubuntu but i never got my printer set up. Its a friday night and now ive got some time on my hands! Ive found the drivers for my printer (Cannon MP 210) but i have no idea what to do with the files. The file for the scanner is a .tgz file, and the printer driver is a .tar file. When i connected my printer a few minutes ago, ubuntu 10.10 brought me to the installation and i installed and older printers driver (mp 180) but the scanner wont work and a bit of excess ink is on the test paper.

Recently I've been having problems with the internet whilst using Ubuntu 10.10 (Dual booting with Windows Vista Home Premium x32). The problem is I simply can't use my internet (can't connect and the option doesn't show up). At first it said (using wireless internet by the way), firmware missing. After playing around for a bit, I managed to get a option to install my internet card driver (Broadcom).
As I try to install it says this:
Code:
SystemError: Failed to lock /var/cache/apt/archives/lock This is really frustrating me as I need the internet on it.

I've been snooping around on the forums for a couple of hours now looking for a straightforward guide to installing custom wireless drivers. I have a new Airlink101 AWLH6075 wireless card (and no ethernet connectivity.) The Linux drivers are the RT2860 Ralink drivers in a .tar, which I have on a different computer.
So -- I'm on Server (command-line only), 64-bit, no working internet. Btw, the wifi card works fine on my alternate boot of Windows. wlan0 (wlan1?) is not detected during installation.
So, I know I need to:
1. mount the usb drive I'm storing the file(s) on
2. put those files in my local Linux directory
3. somehow install them
4. (disable my old ethernet connection?)
5. enable my new wlan0 and set up dhcp and the WEP login.
[Code]...
I would greatly appreciate any help I can get with any of these things. I don't even know how to mount a USB stick in command-line... but obviously the internet connectivity (and thus driver installation) is the major issue here and I can find out most of the other stuff on my own.

I am on a desktop that depends on a USB wireless adapter for it's internet, and I need to install the driver for it. I have downloaded the driver via another computer and isolated the .inf, .sys, and .bin files for the driver, and am trying to install ndiswrapper in order install the driver. the problem is I cannot get ndiswrapper to install, the 'make' command pulls in a laundry list of errors along with the 'make install' command. Is there something I'm missing? I have managed to update the kernel via another computer running the latest kernel, but still receive errors.
