View 5 RepliesI am running a Linux server from 2000, I have Fedora12 installed as the OS. I know you can virtualize Windows XP on the system to be able to run Windows programs, but the problem is I My server has only one 1333Mhz Pentium 3 processor and 1G of Ram. granted this is a pretty kick ass computer for the day, but lacking the second processor I'm afraid that I will not be able to run Windows virtualization to support Photoshop CS3. Is there any program out there that runs similar to Photoshop, like windows Digital Image suite 10, that will run smoothly in my Linux Fedora 12 environment? or can I virtualize windows and run the Windows digital image suite 10, without slowing or corrupting my system?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently converted to Ubuntu, so I must mention now I am new to Ubuntu. The Ubuntu version I am running is 10.04 I was looking for ways to install Adobe Photoshop CS5, but when I try to run the Setup.exe with WINE, it runs the installing setup, but then after it loads the window closes and it doesn't do anything from that.
Is there any way to fix this at all? As I am starting to miss Photoshop. P.S. I know there is an alternative program such as GIMP, but it takes forever to do something in GIMP which it takes like 1 minute in Photoshop to do. If there is not a fix for this...is there a program that is like Photoshop, but not like GIMP?
I'm ready to format my drive and try Ununtu, but I need to make sure the operating system will run the latest version of these two programs.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI did originally have Ubuntu 10.04, in which gave me the same problem. I have upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10.I have been using the portable Adobe Photoshop CS5 application for a while now however it has kind of broken on me now. Everytime I tun the application now, it gives me a runtime error.
"Runtime Error!
Program C:Pro.
R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. contact the application's support team for more info" I have tried re-installing several times now. Even downloading a different version. I am also running it through wine through the following command.. "wine "C:Program FilesPhotoshopPortablePhotoshopCS5Portable.exe"
I've just tried to install PS CS5 portable in wine but I get a R6034 error. Does anyone know what I need to do?

I am new to Ubuntu and need help installing the Cybertablet driver and Photoshop Elements 7 on my computer. I don't know how everything works (yet), so if anyone can help, I would need step-by-step instructions...
I installed Wine, and apparently that is supposed to help use Windows programs on a Linux system, but unfortunately I am very blank on how to use it. I would appreciate any help at all! I love Ubuntu except for this one little thing.
Also, is it possible to run a Windows VM on a Linux? Would that let me use my tablet?
I had PS CS5 portable running with Wine and everything was fine. However, from a couple of days ago I click on the icon to open the application and it keep loading. I had attached a screen-shoot with more details. I am running Ubuntu 10.10 and Wine (wine-1.3.7).

I believe the local disk read should be faster to translate than to bite the bytes across thousands of miles over the wire right?
I was wondering if it was possible to get photoshop cs4 on ubuntu other then virtually install it on windows or is there an adequate photo editing program for ubuntu

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed the latest nVidia drivers on my laptop using the 9800M card. The laptop is a Gateway P-7805u and I'm connected to the second monitor using VGA.Also, before installing the nVidia drivers (and just using the basic drivers included with Kubuntu 10.04), basic dual monitor support worked, except I could not enable compositing features for some reason. So I thought the proprietary drivers would fix this.Several issues have arisen since installation:
1) I've clicked through all of the display settings to activate the second screen with absolutely no change.
2) When I try to apply settings and Save Configuration as the nVidia help suggests, I am told that I cannot save to the X.conf file. I assume this is due to innate permissions on my user settings, which I have no idea how to properly configure.
3) I have no idea where to go from here, as most of the fixes I found online involve Linux syntax and verbiage, to which I'm totally clueless after spending over half my life with Windows.
what are the exact differences between Kubuntu and Ubuntu? like programs, etc. the desktop environment is obvious, but what are the smaller differences? I just wanted to know before I download one..

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently received my Kubuntu 10.10 Desktop Edition Install CD and I'm trying to install it to dual boot with Windows 7. I used Wubi and it gave me two options: Install inside from Windows, and Demo and Full Installation. I picked Demo and Full Install and tried to install from inside the Kubuntu Demo. When I do and it gets to the "Disk" section of the install, it gives me two options to install. The first option is to erase and partition the whole drive, which I understand as it would erase my whole hard drive and partition the whole thing for Kubuntu, not allowing me to use Win7. The second option was to manually select partitions, but since I'm a noob to this, I dont know how to set partitions. I need to know how to install Kubuntu where I can dual-boot with my Win7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I installed Ubuntu parallel to windows, since I still have some projects to finish using windows software. While exploring the world of Ubuntu I came across Kubuntu, which looked very nice. Now I made the mistake to download the installation disk and install Kubuntu parallel to Ubuntu and Windows. I played around with Kubuntu for a while, it looks really nice but I decided to stick to Ubuntu. So now I would like to remove Kubuntu, but I don't know how. The same goes for Windows, as soon as I have finished my projects with windows software. I would like to remove it as well, so that finally my computer runs only on Ubuntu.
