Ubuntu Installation :: Unable To Get The 10.10 Server

This is where I stand at this time. I have used the MD5SUM on the Ubuntu files for 10.10 server both the I386 and the AMD64, and the Desktop I386. All three passed as being non compromised files. I then burned the files on CD's using infrarecorder as the web site shows.
Machine 1:
Asus M2N68-AM Mother board and Athlon processor
Western Digital 1tb hard drive
1 gb memory
64 bit

I am question if the fact that the motherboard does not have a built in video card if that is a problem with this machine. I can not get to any screen on either of these CD's to do the Ubuntu "checks" Since the server version does not load or work correctly on either machine I am asking if there is a problem with the server package as distributed. Since the desktop works on Machine 1 it makes me think even more that there is a problem with the server packages. I have used all the tools that are available through Ubuntu to the best of my ability. With what I see I am thinking that there is a problem with the image used for the server. I would stay with 9.04, but there is not way to update this package.
I've just upgraded my server installation from 9.04 to 9.10. I'm running this as a Xen virtual machine. All seemed to go well until I restarted, at which point I got stuck at this point:

My service provider is running xen-shell 1.0.79 running on Xen version 3.0.3-1, and after the seemingly-successful do-release-upgrade, uname -r reports ubuntu kernal 2.6.18-5-xen-amd64. Unfortunately, this isn't mentioned as a possible problem here [URL]
I completed an install of Ubuntu server 11.04 last night. After the initial reboot I receive a message stating there is no boot disk. Needless to say, this was irritating. I have run Fedora 14 w/Amahi on this computer for several months but, I wanted to try something different. I am running the following:
I wanted to use server so I can setup an LV during setup, which doesn't appear to be offered with the Desktop version (during setup I mean). So, ANY help would be really awesome. I don't care which version, of the OPSYS, I use as long as it can do the following:
I've tried on both 10.04 and 10.10. I apt-get install apache2, and put a simple "hello world" perl script in /usr/lib/cgi-bin, but when calling the script via the webserver I get a 404 "file not found" error.
/etc/apache2/sites-available/default already contained (out of the box)

This used to work out of the box in the days of the older monolithic apache. What configuration has to be made to enable scripts to run?
My httpd was running when I first installed the eprints software in my server and it run well after creating a repository also. But when I extracted my back archive from a different system to my eprints archive my httpd stoped working. The error report in my /var/log/httpd/error_log is give below.

I am an extremely new Ubuntu Server user. I am trying to install NFS on a new Ubuntu Server 10.10 installation. When running the command sudo apt-get install nfs-kernel-server nfs-common portmap, I was previously getting the message:
E: unable to locate package nfs-kernel-server
I'm sure I don't have the correct sources for installation, I just don't know source I need to add.
have setup proftpd via gadmin, all is well and is activated.This is where im being stupid - what setting do i use in my ftp prog (filezilla)??

However, i have a number of computers on my network, obviously when i try to ftp into my server how does it know which one to connect to? or is this not required.i need to get this working within the next few hours, or ill be in do-dos.
im currently using a RHEL5 RIS server in my Lab to deploy rhel5 for all my systems. everything has been configured and installation works fine, but i am not able to run the installation in text interface mode. when i type "linux text", i get an error saying invalid kernel parameter. i'll paste my /etc/dhcpd.conf file here. please have a look and let me know what changes i should be making in order for my text interface installation to be working.
I am going to install debian on my laptop. I just wondering that i am not able to see differentiation between debian installation package for server or desktop? are debian server and desktop edition included in one package ?
I cannot install Kubuntu (or Unbuntu) 10.4 on my husband's computer. I have spent 5 hours on this and cannot get anywhere. I am deeply frustrated. The iso I burned to CD is good (works on 2 other computers). His computer will not boot from USB, no matter what I do to the drive order in BIOS. After loading the blue screen with the Kubuntu logo on it (and the blue-white dots), the screen changes to black and shows the following text:

He really needs to get rid of WinXP. Kubuntu is what I have on my computer (and love it!). Here is some info about his computer:

I am trying to install either Ubuntu or CentOS server in text mode only. The problem I am having is that the hardware that I am trying to install it on has no vga output, I can only connect to it via console cable. I am able to boot from USB CDROm or flash drive but unfortunately since the hardware does not have a gpu (atleast none that I'm aware of) I am unable to get past the boot screen. If someone can point me in the right direction or know where I would be able to download the text install of either OS, that would be awesome.
I have tftp-server running on Centos 5. Clients which are on the same subnet as the server are able to get and put without problems. I have a client that is across the internet that is having trouble getting files from my tftp server. A tcpdump reveals that the client is requesting the same file over and over again. In /var/log/messages, I am see the following error repeated over and over until the client finally gives up.

I have users [URL] unable to send email to [URL]. [URL] user also unable to send email to [URL]. But both email addresses are fine as they can receive email from others or from [URL] and [URL]. I able to telnet mail server 110 and 25, no problem. Version: ESMTP Sendmail 8.12.10

I am unable to use ncftp command I have defined all variables used. i have to copy the data to another server FTPS. When i am executing this command it is throwing error
ncftp -u : option unknown
I am copying total script what i am executing in my server. Please some one tell me is there any pistake in using the ncftp command , or tell me some other commands to copy data to remote server
We're running a sendmail server on a fedora core 9 which we've configured recently. The problem is, the server is working fine but there are some e-mails that enter our server but doesn't get forwarded to the user.

1) I have my Nagios running on the linux box and BMC Remedy Server on the Solaris box. I have simulated a mail from Nagios to be delivered to the Remedy server. But the Remedy Server does not receive it. I even tried snooping on port 25 but nothing has reached the box.

I have set up DNS server set up on my RH 5.5 system. It is working perfectly as Caching only Server but but when i tried to make it a primary server for a zone it didn't resolved. I am actually a newbie so please correct me if i am wrong somewhere. Here are my configuration files code...
In oreder to run an application software on RHEL 3 ES server, I created a link forcefully using following command from root id: # cd /lib64/tls/ # ln -sf libc-2.3.4.so libc.so.6 before that I copied file libc-2.3.4.so from a workstation with OS RHEL 4 WS so that a link can be created. Now I am unable to run any command except cd & pwd and it gives error messaage as given below: ls:relocation error:/lib64/tls/libc.so.6:symbol _rtld_global_ro,version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file ld-linux-x86-64.so.2with link time reference.
Before running this command libc.so.6 was pointing to libc-2.3.so file in path /lib64/libc-2.3.2.so. I am now unable even to open a new window on the server.Please send me some solution as early as possible because this server is running production data and many users are runnig application on this server.
I followed the Wiki guide for configuring my Postfix server for SASL / TLS. I don't get any errors and I assume it's working but when I try and test SASL (saslauthd), I don't get the response noted according to the Wiki and I don't understand why.
I have installed proxy server on ubuntu.I have done every process which is needed to establish proxy server.internet is also working fine through proxy but the sites which needs to be blocked it is not blocking.it is opening.I have made entry of sites which i needed to be blocked in block_dstdomain file in proxy
I run my own mail server. There's only one part that isn't working and I can't seem to figure out why: sending mail from a client - in this case, Thunderbird.
I can send mail off-server just fine if I log in via telnet. I can receive email just fine with Thunderbird.

i even turn off all firewall rules on both server i can able to ssh from my home or any other pc to remote pc so i don't think there is any problem in target pc
I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 again on my PC after a long time. Everything was working fine. No problems at all. After running all the necessary updates, I wanted to install Adobe Flash. This I did by going to Adobe's site. I selected the APT version for 9.04+. It was installing fine UNTIL there was a power cut. Since then I have been trying out various methods of repair suggested in these forums. But again and again get the same message:Quote:

I'm having a problem connecting to my server with ssh.I'm running the latest Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit server, inside a virtual machine on a Mac (VMware Fusion 3, running on OS X 10.6.2 with 64-bit kernel).I've set up a network interface (eth2) to act as a host-only network between the virtual machine and the host.I can ssh into the server from my Mac when I type in its IP address ssh root@[IP address] BUT, I can not connect to the server.do I need to open a port with ufw? or configure something else in the ssh settings?
I used to run Fedora linux a long time ago but this is my first time back to linux in a while.
In short I am trying to install Ubuntu Server 10.4 LTS on this machine: Dell XPS Server Intel core 2 quad q6600 8 GB DDR2 667 MHZ Ram 500 GB WD Blue Sata Hard Drive
The install CD boots fine, asks me if I want to install Ubuntu Server, I select that option, and the only thing that follows is the blinking cursor and a black screen, nothing else happens.
I am not able to finish the last step in the installation of Ubuntu 10.10. It asks me to fill in "Who are you?" information, but the forward button is not activated and I am not able to click it. I have tried to burn a new image cd and try again but I get the same error. My computer is an Acer Aspire 5220. I attach a picture of the screen.
