the cp's and ln's are from an install.sh from weidu-linux. apparently, i have compiled things in a terrible way. (i'm pretty sure i tried "make install.sh" and then "sudo checkinstall" and the package never went through, but now. now, i'm not so worried about the flash because any time i use apt-get this script of cp's and ln's runs (on the other hand, flash is the only package not working, so maybe this is just a cosmetic issue...). for example, ace of penguins outputs the same stuff (but at least it runs).
I don't want help with the flash issue--i just want my apt-get / dpkg to be clean again! i'll never try to run baldur's gate with weidu mod's again,
I read on a forum post that the problem with clicking certain types of flash content was resolved by downloading and install the latest package of flash from adobe's site.
I removed the flash install from the .deb package I downloaded from Adobe and wanted to start over. I am having problems installing flashplugin-nonfree and flashplugin-installer due to conflicting packages. How can I start over fresh as if flash was never installed and THEN install flashplugin-nonfree + it's dependencies without any problems?
Here's what happens when I try to remove and reinstall, among other things:
Yesterday, I was seeking for some Flash Player tweaks for Jaunty. In Adobe's web site I found and installed "APT for Ubuntu 9.04+." That move installed adobe-flashplugin to the system. After I removed flashplugin-nonfree and flashplugin-installer, Interestingly flash videos begin to player smoother; especially in http://www.animefreak.tv/ . Is it just a coincidence or an advantage of "APT for Ubuntu 9.04+"; because it did not exist in Adobe's website one month ago, just ".deb for Ubuntu 8.04+" was available for download.
This is the error I get when using apt-get upgrade or package manager dpkg: error processing flashplugin-nonfree (--remove): reinstall it before attempting a removal.
I faced on these days a very nasty problem, during the upgrading of my system... something bad happened and I can not remove, purge, install, reinstall the package flashplugin-nonfree no matter what tries I did till now.

II installed flashplayer by every different method I can so far, and all of them have the same problem. This problem presents itself, for example, while playing a video on ...... As the video loads, flashplayer is fine, but as soon as it starts playing, the browser tab begins to run at roughly 1 frame per 10 seconds. When I turn the browser priority to maximum in System Monitor, it improves slightly, going to about 1 frame per second. The strange part is, my CPU and memory usage barely spike at all, to less than 30%. This happens regardless of browser (have tried iceweisel and chrome). It happens with hardware acceleration on, and off. I have tried installing flashplayer from the tar.gz on the adobe website, from the repository (all three packages), and manually placing the plugin in the browser myself. The issue presents itself the same every time.
My system specs are: 1.83GHz duel core intel centrino processor, 3GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600. Nothing fancy, but flash player performs as flawlessly as flashplayer can under windows (and also performed well in my previous Ubuntu 10.04LL install).
I faced on these days a very nasty problem, during the upgrading of my system... something bad happened and I can not remove, purge, install, reinstall the package flashplugin-nonfree no matter what tries I did till now. To see my tries please read bellow.Do any of you have any advanced advice how can solve this BIG problem that occurs to me?
I had used "sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound" but it report Package flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source
Does the $ sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree command always downloads the latest flash player plugin?Does it install for all currently installed browsers? Because it seems like it does.
So I've installed using the minimal installation cd, and I can't get the flashplugin or java to work. When using apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree/jre.I get the error message of: no installation candidate, or it's obsolete/only available from another source. So far I have searched google and forum search, and found nothing, might be I'm just not searching to well. I've tried installing from the backports by the instructions of this link: URL...
I installed flashplugin-installer in my ubuntu netbook remix, i found out that it couldnt play net videos. I have tried to purge it inorder to install adobe flash player but it is not going away. this is the message i get:-
I am running Ubuntu 9.1 and am trying to download the apt file from the adobe web site and use apturl to open it. I enable the partner channel packages finish downloading and an error pops up. Could not find package 'adobe-flashplugin'.
The screen goes black while "waiting to populate /dev/"and only by adding acpi=off can I boot into my system, and then I see that I get an error message during boot when "populating /dev/ " that says"fatal error during GPU init", even after I've installed the firmware-linux-nonfree.deb, which is the one for the R300 family, which I'm guessing is the right one, since lspci tells me I have:Radeon IGP 330M/340M/350MI've read the wiki[URL]
just installed Fed 11... running updates, adding rpmfusion - update prompts me - so running update Fed tried to updat rpmfusion config files for FREE and NON-FREE then i get the following error:
Code:
Public key for rpmfusion-nonfree-release-11-1.noarch.rpm is not installed
which halts me from updating my system... here are other errors:
If you have a Radeon graphics chip and upgrade to Jessie, install firmware-linux-nonfree, before rebooting.
My dist-upgrade to Jessie seemed flawless until I rebooted and couldn't get into X.
Seems Jessie boots into Gnome by default, but Gnome now requires 3-D acceleration. For my Radeon graphics chip (ATI Radeon 3100), this requires firmware-linux-nonfree, which I didn't need before and was not installed as part of the upgrade.
A boot message alerted me to this need.
I was able to get X going with xinit. I used FVWM; for XFCE I believe the command is:
xinit /usr/bin/xfce4-session -- :1
and from there I installed the package firmware-linux-nonfree.
I'm going by this:And the fact that I couldn't find in in my repository. It's a base install on a very minimal system with openbox. How do I get this repository and the repository that has dillo in it? I want to get flash, and will also need steps for that one I get the repositories. I realize flash is going to crawl but that's ok. I need flash to go slow for something.
I've been using Iceweasel for 4-5 months now, since I installed Debian 6.0 testing. It worked fine and I had to use flashplugin-nonfree from the repositories in order to get flash working, nothing new here.In my last apt-get upgrade, something broke. Not sure if it is the flashplugin or Iceweasel.I tried changing flashplugins (trying the 32bit one, trying the new 64bit, trying another package I found) but every time I go on ..... and click on a video, Iceweasel crashes. The only output I got was "sesmentation fault".So I tried with firefox and Iceape and they worked fine. However the firefox downloaded was 32bit, so I downloaded the 3.6.12 source and compiled it (Forgot to mention i'm on amd64, but who isn't nowadays?).Flashplugin works fine with firefox 64bit, browser doesn't crash, but I keep getting:
I have installed flashplugin but firefox complains about upgrading to 10, i got it off the official site and move libflashplugin.so to /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/
I am trying to reinstall flash as i had some troubles with flash videos and compiz. I completely removed flashplugin-installer from synaptic but when i then try to reinstall flash from synaptic i get the error showing in the screenshot. I have tried removing all flashplugin-installer related files but to no avail.
can anyone else whos installed 64bit lucid 10.04 build check to see if bbc iplayer or media clips play ? i've got the following installed:
flashplugin-installed flashplugin-nonfree
but media clips from [url] just seem to be static, pressing on the play now button has no effect. videos media and general flash seems to be fine, just nothing from the bbc.
I am trying to set up k3b. It complains about a missing mp3 decoder. Following this solution, I set up yum to use the livna repository and then found I actually needed the rpmfusion repo, so set that up as well. Now when I run "yum install k3b-extras-nonfree", I end up with a transaction error: Transaction Check Error: file /usr/lib64/libfaad.so.2.0.0 from install of faad2-libs-1:2.7-1.fc11.x86_64 conflicts with file from package libfaad2-1:2.7-16.fc12.x86_64
Any idea why the repo is trying to install faad2-libs x86_64 1:2.7-1.fc11 rpmfusion-free when all the other objects are correctly shown as fc12 and how do I get around this without breaking something which is already installed?
I open up Synaptic Package Manager, I get the dialogue, "You have 1 broken package, use the Broken Filter to locate it." So I do, and I find flashplugin-nonfree. So I try to reinstall it, and the two packages that are installed are flashplugin-nonfree and flashpluin-installer. However, I always get this error message:
[code]...
how I can fix it? I know it has SOMETHING to do with conflicting packages
I have the same problem with my Ubuntu 9.10. I am using 64-bit computer and 64-bit Ubuntu. When I tried to install Flashplayer I got the message"E:/var/cache/apt/archives/flashplugin-installer_10.0.45.2ubuntu0.9.10.1_amd64.deb: conflicting packages - not installing flashplugin-installer "I tried to un-install all flash-player by "Synaptic Package Manager" and even un-install firefox. Then re-install them back. But still got this problem.I have tried many way I could. But now I am stuck.
What used to work flawlessly in F14 now does not work in F15. I have done a fresh installation of F15 and all seemed to go well other than a few minor tweaks. In F14 I had an /etc/fstab file that worked well but in F15 does not work. I have 3 external USB drives, mybook, black & StoreIt. With F14 my fstab worked very well and booted regardless of weather or not any particular drive was connected at any given time. Typically I have the mybook and black connected at home and the StoreIt connected at work, but regardless it would boot and work without any problems.
I have used Ubuntu for months now on my laptop and I thought it would be a good idea to install Ubuntu on my old computer. After it installs it won't work. The console will, however. A friend of mine also has the same problem. He thinks that it's because both of us have two display adapters it doesn't know which one to use.My computer specs:SonyUCG135XEUMIntel Pentium III 1.19 GHz 32-bitIntel 82830M (with Graphics Controller-0 and -1Friend's specs:ATI MObility Radeon 5650 graphics cardIntel i5 64-bit
