Ubuntu :: Installing 64 Bit Adobe Flashplugin Preview In Single Command
Sep 17, 2010
I posted a blog on how to install 64 bit adobe flash plugin in Ubuntu Lucid in a single command
[URL]
The command is
sudo aptitude remove flashplugin-nonfree flashplugin-installer && mkdir -p flashplugin-64 && cd flashplugin-64 && wget -c http://download.macromedia.com/pub/l..._091510.tar.gz && tar xzf flashplayer_square_p1_64bit_linux_091510.tar.gz && sudo cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/

Yesterday, I was seeking for some Flash Player tweaks for Jaunty. In Adobe's web site I found and installed "APT for Ubuntu 9.04+." That move installed adobe-flashplugin to the system. After I removed flashplugin-nonfree and flashplugin-installer, Interestingly flash videos begin to player smoother; especially in http://www.animefreak.tv/ . Is it just a coincidence or an advantage of "APT for Ubuntu 9.04+"; because it did not exist in Adobe's website one month ago, just ".deb for Ubuntu 8.04+" was available for download.

I read on a forum post that the problem with clicking certain types of flash content was resolved by downloading and install the latest package of flash from adobe's site.
I removed the flash install from the .deb package I downloaded from Adobe and wanted to start over. I am having problems installing flashplugin-nonfree and flashplugin-installer due to conflicting packages. How can I start over fresh as if flash was never installed and THEN install flashplugin-nonfree + it's dependencies without any problems?
Here's what happens when I try to remove and reinstall, among other things:
Code:

I want to write a single shell script that allows me to, once executed from a panel launcher, change the image preview setting between "local files only" and never. Right now i have two tiny scripts, one for local files only and another one for never, that is:
[Code]...
and the other says string "local_only". But that means i need to have two launchers, because i don't know how to write the condition <<when set to never, change it to local only. And is it possible to make a script that also changes the launcher's icon when the preview config is set to one or the other value? That way i'd know what it is set to just by looking at it. It would act as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool XD

I open up Synaptic Package Manager, I get the dialogue, "You have 1 broken package, use the Broken Filter to locate it." So I do, and I find flashplugin-nonfree. So I try to reinstall it, and the two packages that are installed are flashplugin-nonfree and flashpluin-installer. However, I always get this error message:
[code]...
how I can fix it? I know it has SOMETHING to do with conflicting packages

You may know that there was a security release for Adobe Flash Plugin for Linux x86 but not for x86_64. There has been a development:
See : http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html
It works fine here. I have a Multilib Slack 13.1 stable.

I downloaded Adobe Air, both the rpm and the .bin versions. First I tried the rpm, it went through the motions of installing but just disappeared. then I tied the .bin, got tot the installer, accepted the license, entered my root password, but it stopped installing with "an error occurred. Adobe AIR could not be installed. Install either Gnome Keyring or KDE KWallet before installing Adobe AIR". I opened Kwallet and tried again, but to no avail. I am running OS11.4 64 bit. What can I do to get this thing working?

Just a little question about installing the Adobe Flash Player. I downloaded the Flash Player library in tar.gz format directly from Adobe. I want to install it in the default plug-in directory for Opera, which is /usr/lib/opera/plugins. When I try to copy the file, I get an error saying that I do not have the sufficient permissions to copy a file to that directory. Does anyone know how to copy the file using the command line, using the SUDO command?

I am a 'newbie' to ubuntu (with 45+ years as a 'computer nerd'). I am trying to follow the instructions for installing the Flash plug-in so I can view some of the action on webpages. I get on terminal and the prompt is mike@mike-laptop. The instructions say to key in "# rpm -Uvh <rpm_package_file>". I have tried as many variations of this command as I can think of with no response. I am assuming that my interpretation of <rpm_package_file> is incorrect.

I just installed Fedora 14 and I need to install adobe flash. I found a few thread explaining how to, but when I type:
[jlb@xxx ~]$ sudo rpm -ivh [URL]
It tells me that I am not in the sudoers file. This is the message I got:
jlb is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.
What is this error mean? When I installed fedora yesterday, I was prompted to setup a root user password, which I did. I also need to install schockwave player and it is the same.

Have you tried installing adobe flash plugin recently? My distro is slackware 13 64bit, I just can't install this plugin. When unpacked, it gives me a lib only, I believe it is supposed to give me the 'flashplayer-installer, as it has always done before. Now it gives me this 'libflashplayer.so' only.[URL]..
Quote:
Installation instructions for tar.gz Click the download link to begin installation. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file. Save the .tar.gz file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely. Unpackage the file. A directory called install_flash_player_10_linux will be created. In terminal, navigate to this directory and type ./flashplayer-installer to run the installer. Click Enter. The installer will instruct you to shut down your browser(s). Once the installation is complete, the plug-in will be installed in your Mozilla browser. To verify, launch Mozilla and choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser menu.

I just installed Fedora 11 on my Sony Vaio laptop. I couldn't stand Windows Vista any longer. I installed Fedora 11 just fine with no issues. But I seem to be having trouble installing programs such as Adobe Flash Player, Reader, Limewire, Java pluggin, etc. Everytime I try to install these, it says for example "Could not display "/home/blackout87gn/Download/jre-6u16-linux-i586-rpm.bin". This was for the Java file I downloaded. I made sure that all these files I downloaded were for Linux. So being the newb that I am, can someone point me in the right direction on how to install these applications? Also what does .rpm .bin .deb and .tar.gz represent?
