create a USB stick from where one can install either Ubuntu x86, x64 and Server x64.
Copy each CD image into three subfolders on the stick and then have a menu choosing what type of installation it should be?
I installed ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop and configured a lot(mainly setup git, heroku, rails etc), installed and setup lot of things on it to suit my needs. Now I want to move this setup to another machine and want to avoid all the setup again. Is there a way I can create an installer out of my existing ubuntu installation/partition which I can reuse for other machines?

I have two 256 GB SSD disks, on the first one I have installed Xubuntu 14.04 successfully. I've checked in Synaptic's Settings->Repositories and I have all repositories enabled, and the package is available via a Debian repository... I would like a new linux distro. I've been using ubuntu for like 2 years or more and I'm just done with it. Some things that I want out of the new distro are:
Since I like learning, I want the distro to NOT be so user-friendly. I want a challenge. Just anything new to learn would be amazing. I am trying to install ubuntu on an old machine and no matter what version I try to install I get this same error.

The versions I have tried are (9.04server. 9.10desktop, 10.04 server).
I have swapped both the CD drive and HDD drive becuase, well i don't know why, but I have. This didn't work.
I have read [URL] and have tried changing my BIOS settings so that i have my config is:
IDE Primary Master : Maxtor 6Y080L0 (HDD)
IDE Primary Slave : HL-dt-st-sl8480b (CD-DRIVE)
This didn't work.
I have also tried doing the instructions posted by migraineman on the second page of the thread mentioned above but this also didn't work.

80Gb Maxtor HDD
LG-GCE CD-ROM Drive
319Mb RAM - 8Mb Shared
Am running Maverick RC1 and when I try to install adobe-flashplugin in synaptic I get the message " Depends:libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0(>2.21.6) but this is not installable".
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running Ubuntu 10.04 and WINE 1.2. WineHQ APPDB states that Rosetta Stone is not installable. I have installed it, so the information there is not correct/complete. When I installed, it ran perfectly. I created an ISO of the install disc and the first lesson. I then loop mounted each of them in turn for them to run and assigned each of them a windows directory, configuring them as CD-ROM. This worked perfectly the first day. Now it no longer works with the ISO or with the original disc. I have run the program in terminal and received the following output:

I have seen similar outputs on the forums, but nothing that included that AUDIO ERROR. This seems to be an issue of time. If I don't do anything, the program will crash giving me error 5118. If I run through lesson select and mic testing quickly then I can get all the way to the lesson before it crashes with the same error.
i was writing a .img file to my usb stick with ImageWriter, but it didn't seem to do anything so i clicked the close gtk button and pulled the stick out of my pc. now my pc gives my an when i try to open the stick. is there any way to fix this. I downloaded it from the broadcom site but it comes as a gzip file instead of a deb file. if I extract the gzip file I don't get any installable (deb) files. I'm in love with my Opensuse 11.2. Love my KDE 4.4. The only thing I miss from my Ubuntu installation, is the ability to use Boxee. I would be more than willing to compile Boxee from source. I only have 2 problems with that:
1) I don't know where I can find all the build-deps or what they are for that matter to build Boxee.
2) I'm running on a Netbook. Yes, my measly Intel Atom is no fun for compiling and building.
What are my options/what can I do to get Boxee up and running on 11.2? I've tried searching on build service for an RPM, but I think due to legal restrictions, Boxee can't be on there.

I have been trying to install build-essential package on Ubuntu-11.x in the production environment, which is not connected through Internet. When I run apt-get install command, it gives me errors such as:
Depends: libc6-dev but it is not installable
Depends: gcc but it is not installable and so on
I have checked these packages through "dpkg get-selections" command and i believe that they are already installed (probably virtual packages) in the system. Please let me know the quick way to complete this installation.

My goal is to install the i386 build on one partition and the 64-bit build on another. I have been away from Linux for a while and am sick to death of Win7, want to come home. :-}
Booted on i386 side of DVD, system freezes after a couple of lines that start with ATA2. Does not respond to 3 finger salute, ctrl-c, nothing. Have to press reset. I have tried both huge.s and hugesmp.s kernels
Booted on 64-bit side, comes up fine. I performed the install, selected for automatic lilo install. Lilo install hung but I was able to reboot. I booted off the 64-bit side again, entered the following: huge.s root=/dev/sde3 rdinit= ro It booted fully to the login prompt but the keyboard does not work, no input.
I copied the unr 9.10 iso to my usb stick fine using the program from pendrivelinux for ubuntu 9.1. I think it worked well, because it now has a ubuntu logo on the usb and says "install ubuntu netbook remix." When I get to the BIOS menu and to the boot options, I get a box which says three things: SDD slot, D: drive, and disabled (maybe talking about the D)When I press enter on the D: drive nothing happens. When I say to save configuration and exit it goes right to xp again. I have no idea what to do... I'm on an EEEpc 1005-HA running xp.

I know this is working since i have done it before, when creating the startup disc, i just put it on the SD card instead of an USB stick. As i said; it have worked before, to boot and install from the SD card but for some reason when i restart nothing happens, just normal restart and yes; i have checked the boot order so it isn't that, 1:st boot priority is "external device", which would be the same as USB or SD card, and again, i have easily installed from SD card before so i can't understand why nothing happens now, has something changed?
