I have installed and configured a new ClearOS enterprise 5 and it is up and running. I need a way to import my old redhat mail users to ClearOS. Please any one help with idea to accomplish this task.

Anyway, there is just one big problem (or I miss a simple tip to do it )
We have 1300 students. If I must create them one by one, that will take a lot of time. Actually with the apple server, we can go on a web interface & import an excel list with theses columns :
"Name", "Login", "Password", "Class", "Group", "HDD Space", "Print quota", "Internet access or not", etc ...
Due to this tool, I can upload an excel files with my 1300 students & a couple hours after, they have an account with a personal space & a shared space with their class.
My question is : This tool exist on Debian/Linux world ?
I am looking for ideas for getting windows users into an ldap server. I am currently running a Linux server for my department and need to create an LDAP server which mirrors the username/password information for all of us as they are stored in the windows server here. I have the openldap server up and running on Ubuntu 8.04 and it works great; I now need to find some way to import user info into this from windows. I've seen discussions of using ldifde.exe to export the AD users into an ldif file. Is this the simplest way to go about it?
Our Linux server is currently providing us with much needed services using apache, and apache is authenticating using LDAP to our windows server (Using our windows username / password is required functionality). This windows server has some problem which causes it to delay for inordinate amounts of time between authentication requests and responses. The situation is such that this problem will not be addressed by IT staff. However, I have control over the Linux server so I am looking to just mirror the windows server on an LDAP server of my own. I could get away with updating the passwords in the Linux server.

Users and groups appear to work, but they do not show in the Users/Groups GUI. Is that because they do not start at a UID 1000 and up? What are my options to make them visable?

There is an access log file, `access.log`. My question is what configuration file determines the location and the name of the access log file. How can I change them? CustomLog /home/test/my_log_file common Apache2 generated /home/test/my_log_file. But no logs were written in the file even after I run `/etc/init.d/apache2 restart`. Ichanged the log file location. It still didn't work. However, Apache2 still wrote logs in the file `/var/log/apache2/access.log`
I would like to know how to link linux users to have their windows folder (on fileserver) into linux..I have a windows fileserver which hosts AD users home (personal) folder.I also have linux (redhat) with SAMBA. users have their home folder in linux but also want to access their home folder in windows. Is there any solution which automatically creates links in linux home folder, when a user logs into linux he can also view / edit his files in windows home folder.I know to smbmount but there are 500+ users and creating smbmount / smbclient for each would be time consuming also many of the users are dynamic (added / deleted frequently).

Having set up many windows servers with complex permissions on shared folders, I now have to do the same in Linux (and I'm such a noob to Linux) I understand that each file/folder is assigned a user + group, and that the rights can be set for the user, the group and global (aka everybody else) My challenge is this, inside my shared folder there is a folder that should be RW to some users, READ ONLY to others, and not accessible at all to the rest of the users. (lets call the folder MyFolder ) All 3 groups have more than 1 user, so they have to be groups (right?) How would this model work in Linux ? If there is no other way, I guess I can nest the MyFolder in a folder that has permissions to allow all users that may access MyFolder, and block the rest, then on MyFolder, set owner group the RW users, and set global to READ ONLY.
Ps : The server I'm setting up runs Debian Lenny, files will be accessed from windows workstations using samba.

I'm using Inkscape, and I'm trying to import an EPS file to use it as a vector and eventually save it as an SVG.

But the responses aren't rated since it's a forum, so I thought I'd ask here to find the best answer. I'd prefer not to have to use some website to convert the file to a PDF first.
Either way, when I import an EPS into Inkscape, or use the website to convert it to a PDF, in both cases the resulting file loses all colour and gradients, and the EPS file gets cut off on the right side.
It looks like ps2pdf is clipping the file incorrectly, and Inkscape is eliminating the colour.

I wanna import files from a Dead old laptop running Ubuntu to a new PC running Windows 7 I was thinking of just puting the old HD in a Extrenal USB2 enclosure but I'm not sure about the file system and the posibility of importing stuff directly ! Have managed to create a simple script to poll the various printers we have at our company for a page count via SNMP. At the moment the script echos the printer name to a text file and then the snmp output is appended to the next line. In my rush I thought by using sed to add a comma to the end of each line would mean it would import in to excel nicely. So rather than having:

If there are users in a network who have desktop Linux (any variety), is there a way to configure their computers to "require" them to save documents to the network? I have my CSV formatted so that the first row has the names of my columns on the table that I want to import it to and the following rows are the data that needs importing.
I've downloaded configuration files for my VPN, Kovurt, and they don't have a .ovpn file extension. Further, when I tried to enter the information manually (using this guide), I saw that the files only include the <ca> tags, and no <cert>, <key> or <tls-auth> tags.

I have an open ticket with Kovurt asking for the other info, but I know already that they don't have much in the way of documentation or support for Linux.
This suite contains a database which is pure ****; it will not import a simple csv file of 684k rows in my 64 bit linux laptop, but the same file loads flawlessly in windows 32 bit access 2002.
