View 2 RepliesI can't figure out how to set Okular to be the default PDF viewer.Using Ubuntu 10.04. And it keeps using evince to open PDF files even after I changed it. See the attached picture for what I've already done.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Okular as a chm reader (I know how to use extract_chmlib and htmldoc.. but with those two I can only make HTML-only documents and not image attachments..)and it just happens so I would like my machine to read the text... i have both festival and espeak installed (as well some gnome-based plug-ins)... But I just can't get Okular to speak.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to open a folder or some other location on disk through any program, I get the Remote Desktop Viewer. For example, if I go to Places --> Home Folder, the RDV opens up and says "the connection to /home/<me>" is closed. It's very odd. I get the same behavior in Chromium if I select "Show in Folder" for a download.
If I go to the terminal and type 'xdg-open ~' or 'gnome-open ~' I also get the Remote Desktop Viewer, just like I do when I select home from the Places menu.
The default image viewer in 10.10 (eog) has met its match, a ~500MB image of the moon. I just thought it was kind of funny, while browsing the software center for an image viewer that could handle it, I noticed the description of the one installed by default and thought it was kind of funny, so I snapped this screenshot and thought I'd share it with you guys. By the way I have 4 GB of RAM and can view the image just fine in GIMP, just thought this was kind of funny.

I am using emacs+auctex for latex editing now, I want to change the default viewer for dvi files, since xdvi doesn't render correctly most of my documents; okular works perfectly, though I cannot make it the default viewer I went into the AUCTex manual, and there is a tex-view-program list that should contain the list of viewers, but I cannot find the way to customize that variable.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't make use of the Gnome log file viewer anymore. Seconds after I start it, it will gray out and proceed to steadily lay claim to all my available RAM. It doesn't matter which log I choose, or if I don't choose one at all. Same thing. I have 1GB RAM, and when I took the included screencap the log viewer had taken almost 80% of it. It was at 90% before I forced a shutdown of the process. Does anyone have the slightest idea what might be causing this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAlso, I must say I really like the feature of QuickTime in MACOS. I think Ubuntu team can improve the current GNOME desktop and provide some like that. 1. make the movie player amd image viewer dockable..window decoration, hide controls...when mouse move over the image, show transparent controls UI.
Currently the Totem, Shotwell(for me, I like F-Spot more than shtwell) and Cheese UI are very different change them, like nautilus elementary.
2. make specified UI of the Music,Picture,Movies in nautilus...such as use clutter view as default view, add extra column,eg. album, artist, starrating.
I'm using Gnome 2.28.2 on OpenSuse 11.2 and Gnome 2.24.1 on OpenSuse 11.1.The application "Software Log Viewer" has never worked, Whether initially opening or refresh it is always blank, but it should show installed software.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed an image editor that I am fond of via Wine. It works fine but now I want to make it the default program when I open an image. I know for most programs how to change this but when I installed this via Wine it is not listed as one of my options for other programs to open that type of file. How do I change the default program to open a file when it's not listed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've looked around Google for a solution to this but I just can't find anything. It's probably a very simple solution that I'm just missing. I'm running Gnome 2 on Ubuntu 11.04 (I removed Unity completely). But when I login to the system it is using the Metacity windows environment. I can get compiz working by running 'compiz --replace'. I just added that command to the 'Startup Applications' but that way seems like a cheesy workaround. Is there a way to make compiz the *ACTUAL* default window manager without using the 'Startup Applications' route?

Grub currently defaults to boot Ubuntu I want to make changes to boot XP as default. What file(s) do I need to edit to make necessary changes? In the older distros I knew how to edit "menu.1st" to get this done. The newer distros must have a different structure because I can not find a menu.1st file.
I've recently installed Ubuntu on a new machine and I'd like to export the annotations for my pdf files from the old computer to my new one. I'm aware that Okular has an export option that allows me to save the annotations of a single pdf and share it with an other person using okular, but that's not what I'm looking for. I've lots of annotated pdf files, and I was wondering if there is one way to copy the folder containing the files with the annotation to the right place in my new computer. There should be no problems since on both the machines I've installed the same version of Ubuntu and I already copied the "Documents" folder from one computer to the other (so that the files would have the same path). What I really need to know is which folder (or folders) I need to copy.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to embed a movie in a latex beamer presentation. I run Ubuntu 10.04 and I know running pdf embedded movies under Linux is still a problem. From what I have been able to dig up, the guys at Okular have partially solved this problem. It seems that Okular under KDE is able to run embedded movies in a pdf presentation. I downloaded it and it doesn't work for my Ubuntu distribution. Can anyone confirm this? Will installing kde through apt-get solve my problem?
I'm asking this because it also seems to be a pain to uninstall KDE and it's components after installing it.By the way, I am completely open to dual booting into a different distro in order to see my embedded movies, so if anyone has embedded movies working in some other distro, I'm open to installing it!
I'm working on a latex document with a default installation of latex/kile. Strangely enough, upon a document change, okular does not reload and display the changes. This is contrary to all other pdf viewers that I have used. Is there anything that can be done? I noticed that in the okular settings, there is an option to "Reload document on file change." Even though it is enabled, okular does not oblige.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Kile, to edit LaTeX documents and every time I click on build button Kile opens Okular which shows my .pdf. Problem begins, when I do this multiple times, as Kile opens another Okular for same document everytime I click build button. I end up having 1 pdf opened multiple times and it is getting on my nerves. Is there any way I can make Kile open only 1 Okular window and updates it when I click on build button?
