View 2 RepliesI use several keyboard layouts all the time. In all previous versions of Ubuntu I could see which one is current. After upgrade it is not showing anymore -- there is just an irrelevant picture. If I click on it -- I see current layout name -- but not other layouts. There I need to select "Keyboard Preferences" in order to see others. Because I often switch between layouts -- this simple feature is VERY important. Why it is broken in Ubuntu 10.10?

It is correctly recogniced as german keyboard by ev-dev, i guess. (ev-dev managed). But i need to write some spanisch symbols too, like accents (á © í ³ ? ñ¬ ·hich in a normal linux, they do work. For some reason, after rebooting, or after some time of having it running, the keyboard layout resets to an invalid setup, here accents get not over the letter (?a ?e ?i ?o ?u), so i have to select my layout again in the gnome control center.
With my other computermore or less the same. Its a desktop PC with an spanisch keyboard. But i thinck i picked German keyboard during installation and now it starts always with german with some sort of 5 secs delay when setting it. I have to pick spanisch and i always delete the german layout, but after some time having it running, it resets to the previusly deleted german layout.

How can I have the system speak Canadian English and only that with no button on the panel letting me know what language I'm using?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI accidentally removed the wireless internet indicator from my panel. I looked up the problem and the best I have come up with is how to get it back TEMPORARILY, using terminal. When I type in "nm-applet", in terminal, it brings it back, but if I close terminal, it disappears with it. So, I have to essentially keep the terminal window, or lose the internet. It blows my mind that such a simple thing is taking so much effort and inquiry.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an annoying problem. It started with the network icon in the indicator applet in gnome-panel. It just disappeared! Somehow I managed to get my network icon back (perhaps after a restart), but as soon as it showed up, my sound icon disappeared.
I followed some advice I saw somewhere that said to add another indicator applet. When I did I had my network icon on my pre-existing indicator applet and a sound indicator in the new one, but no network icon. Because I needed the sound icon, I closed the original. But, I'm still stuck with no network icon now. This is pretty frustrating.
About Unity on 11.041. How do i change the size of the icons in the left panel (Laucher)? I only get 9 button-icones on my little screen.2. Is it possible to see system load and so on, as 'System monitor'-applet in gnome?3. Is it possible to hide the upper panel to save space? Let it show when hovering with the mouse cursor, when you already should be in the upper area?
