View 3 RepliesI'm using a tablet computer in portrait mode and had to switch to Thunderbird because of display layout issues. I would like the mail icon on the top menu bar to refer to Thunderbird but have not been able to figure out how to do so.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a way to edit the default programs the mailon, included with the indicator applet, on the task bar uses. More specifically, I would like a way to integrate "checkgmail" instead of evolution.I did:Code:locate indicator-appletand it printed several possible files, none of which look like they could be edited in this way

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt always shows a same icon, for every application which shows message tray icon. I just did some shell extension work after fresh installation of F15, nothing related on message tray. View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed indicator-applet-complete and all the other indicator apps (applet, datetime, message, me). I know the me menu is suppose to show my user name and icon above the text box but I'm not seeing it. is there some way to fix this? Also the text box is dark, I've seen screenshots where is is white. The text I type would be easier to see if the box was white. Any ideas on how to fix this?
(btw how do I post an image to show you guys what i'm talking about? do I need to upload to another service and link to it?)
I was playing a bit with the appearance of Ubuntu 10.4 and now my evolution mail and volume icons are gone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedNot sure exactly when this happened.I noticed (and posted here) several days ago that notification SOUNDS had stopped working but now the indicator isn't working at all with evolution.I get pop-up OSD notification things saying I have a new message but the indicator doesn't change to green and there is no entry for new messages or message counter in the menu, though the arrow is there to indicate evolution is running.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since I upgraded to 10.10 my Indicator Applet will no longer notify me of new mail. I'm not sure if this is an issue caused by the update of Ubuntu or Evolution.
I've tried removing and adding it again, but no luck. Anyone else having this problem or have a fix?

I'm using the indicator applet on my top-panel with gm-notify, but the only mail-client I use is the gmail webUI, so I don't need the entries above, just the bottom two entries related to gmail. any way to accomplish this?... is there a config-file for the indicator applet?
here's a screenshot:
I want to remove the first three entries in that list.
I have an annoying problem. It started with the network icon in the indicator applet in gnome-panel. It just disappeared! Somehow I managed to get my network icon back (perhaps after a restart), but as soon as it showed up, my sound icon disappeared.
I followed some advice I saw somewhere that said to add another indicator applet. When I did I had my network icon on my pre-existing indicator applet and a sound indicator in the new one, but no network icon. Because I needed the sound icon, I closed the original. But, I'm still stuck with no network icon now. This is pretty frustrating.
About Unity on 11.041. How do i change the size of the icons in the left panel (Laucher)? I only get 9 button-icones on my little screen.2. Is it possible to see system load and so on, as 'System monitor'-applet in gnome?3. Is it possible to hide the upper panel to save space? Let it show when hovering with the mouse cursor, when you already should be in the upper area?
View 9 Replies View RelatedUbuntu 10.04 has the new indicator applet for the gnome panel. in it there is this very handy mail indicator working as launcher for empathy, evolution and pidgin (if installed), holds your currently opened conversations and shows when a new mail arrives.but this mail checking is only done when evolution is opened.now my question: is there a way to minimize evolution to the indicator mail applet? i don't want to have a new tray icon, the mail indicator icon works fine. i want evolution to stay away from my taskbar but still checking for my mails.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to do something really simple with Exim. I have two machine connected together via a hub. They can ping each other. They each are running openSuse 11.2 and have Exim installed. On each machine from the command line in start Exim as a daemon by typing: sudo /usr/sbin/exim -bd -d and each machine runs through some output and sits there "Listening". Then on either machine I try to send a mail message of the form mail
(or mailx) <user>@<other node>
some text
EOT
and absolutly nothing happens! I must be doing something wrong or daft which is very basic, but I have searched all over and cannot get it to work.
I currently use mail-notification to alert me to new email, it sits in the system tray. When a new mail comes in it alerts me as such. I DO NOT have to have thunderbird open or running to be notified. I want to replace mail-notification with indicator messages. I want the same functionality that I got with mail-notification. That is, to have an icon sitting in the notification area that alerts me when new mail arrives. I do not want to have thunderbird open for this to occur.
I have lib-notify installed. I have the notify add-on installed in thunderbird, I have indicator-messages installed. I have thunderbird.desktop in /usr/share/applications I have a file called thunderbird that has one line which is the path to the desktop file above in /usr/share/indicators/messages/applications/ With this when i click on the icon in the notification area i DO see the listing for thunderbird, but the icon is not correct, it has a black bacground with a red circle in it with a slash. When i click on this item thunderbird launches. I do not recieve notificaion messages (i.e the letter icon does not turn green) unless i open thunderbird and check for messages manually. This defeats the purpose of having a notification in the system tray. Additionally changes made to /usr/share/applicatons/thunderbird.desktop are not reflected in the indicator.
the indicator applet on Lucid has a clock, so that I now have two in my panel: the clock applet and the one in the indicator applet. I prefer the clock applet and would like to get rid of the clock in the indicator applet.
It should be possible, since the clock only shows up on my desktop PC, not my laptop.
I started using Banshee. Having Rhythmbox always in the sound menu is redundant. Is it possible to remove it from there? I would like to keep the applet, not the Rhythbox launcher/controller.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am on a DELL Latitude 6500 laptop. It has a physical button to enable wifi. On Kubuntu 10.10 it was working perfectly. Now that I have made a fresh install to 11.04, whenever I try and turn the wifi on, I get a status message that my wifi is enabled. But the led indicator does not glow. and I could not find my router nor any other routers in my building. The following is some of the that might be useful to debug.
According to this website [url] the wifi is compatible with ubuntu and does not need any external drivers I guess.
The indicator applet session gnome-panel applet (the one that lets you change your status for empathy/pidgin, logout, switch user, etc.) has the suspend and hibernate options. My computer will not suspend or hibernate properly (every time I try to wake it up, the hard drive will work for about 4 minutes and the screen will stay blank so I have to restart) and I would like to remove those items from the menu. I would just like to know if there is a way to remove the hibernate and suspend items in the indicator applet session menu. I've already tried browsing around gconf-editor to no avail. If it is not possible, let me know
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed pidgin a while ago, and after using it I decided to stick with empathy...when I installed it, a shortcut to it appeared in the Indicator applet now, that I have uninstalled it, the shortcut remains although clicking on it doesn't do anything...does anybody know a simple way of removing the shortcut from the indicator applet?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is some ind of way of removing the rhythmbox link in the volume menu in the indicator applet..It's just that I hardly use it and it's pretty annoying and redundant as well having it there. I don't want to get rid of the volume menu completely nor of rhythmbox. I just want the link gone from there. Actually it never was there until I decided to open it once. After that day, it wouldn't go, no matter how I would exit the program. I didn't have this problem in 10.04. It's just in 10.10.
