View 3 RepliesI'm having an issue with my package manager. I keep getting an error about a package not being recognized and it will shut down. I tried adding a repo for jdownloader and it's getting hung up. I've since removed the link from the sources list and for some reason it is still being read. "E: Type 'ain' is not known on line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/jd-team-jdownloader-lucid.list E: The list of sources could not be read." I even get the error in terminal my system will not update or allow me to look for programs now.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed Fedora with Midori. (Using Fedora LXDE spin, 32bit). I installed the flash-plugin package and it seems the flash plugin is not recognized by Midori. I also put the flashplugin.so file into /home/MyUserName/.mozilla/plugins/. Not sure what can be done to make Midori work with Flash in Fedora. I am experienced with other linux distributions but I am brand new to Fedora.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running Ubuntu 10.04, and am having trouble getting it to recognize my flash drive in the USB port. It showed up once in the Computer - File Browser and I was able to mount it and access the files on it, but since then it doesn't show up. It works fine on my Ubuntu 9.10 distro. I get the same results on both distos when I run #lsusb# The results are:
Code: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05dc:a701 Lexar Media, Inc. JumpDrive FireFly
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
I can access the flash drive?
Got a refurbished laptop recently and installed Ubuntu 9.10 on it without any problems, but the computer won't recognize my USB flash drive.

I need to install "network-manager" as per the advice on this thread.
Basically, I need my girlfriends laptop to be able to connect to public wireless networks but the wireless network icon in the system tray is not showing a list of networks.
The thread says to install network-manager. Since she doesn't have access to the internet immediatley available, I need to download it on my own, burn it to a dvd (or onto a flash) and then go to her house to do it myself. Hopefully that will work.
Just been trying to install flash player for playing vids etc via facebook and getting the msg of "Flash Player needs to be installed".
However when trying to install it via
sudo apt-get install adobe-flashplugin
I get the msg of "package not available, but is referred to by another package". Tried to get it through APT and get "adobe-flashplugin" is virtual. Also tried deb and get this error msg "Error: Wrong architecture 'i386'.
Running Lucid Server with desktop installed as well on BenQ Joybook S42 Laptop.
So I tried to download adobe flashplayer from a site I'm not sure of, and it didn't install flashplugin-installer. My pc always bugs me about having a broken packet and i'm not able to download anything else because of it. I've tried for a long time now and visited like every site to try to get rid of it. It says "E: flashplugin-nonfree: Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting a removal."
When I try to delete it in system package manager. And it says I need to do this "This package is a transitional package that can safely be removed after you installed flashplugin-installer." I can't find where to install this and when I did think I found the link I try to type my password for terminal and it just says sorry, try again for some reason. I got ubuntu yesterday so I am new to this.
I am a 'newbie' to ubuntu (with 45+ years as a 'computer nerd'). I am trying to follow the instructions for installing the Flash plug-in so I can view some of the action on webpages. I get on terminal and the prompt is mike@mike-laptop. The instructions say to key in "# rpm -Uvh <rpm_package_file>". I have tried as many variations of this command as I can think of with no response. I am assuming that my interpretation of <rpm_package_file> is incorrect.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I installed fedora 13 it works fine in all aspects as per my need except flash player problems in firefox.. I tried to install flash using the following commands:
rpm -Uvh [URL]
then I updated the repositories then I typed,
yum install flash-plugin nspluginwrapper.{i386,x86_64} pulseaudio-libs.i386 alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i386 libcurl.i386
but it says no package available in the name flash-plugin.
After the most recent Firefox update (3.6.6), Flash video has stopped working. I have the Flash player plugin from Adobe (adobe-flashplugin version 10) and it is not working. I have tried uninstalling it and installing the flashplugin-installer package instead, that did not, so I reinstalled the adobe-flashplugin package and still have nothing. All using synaptic package manager.
More specifically, flash videos do not show up at all: ....., anything: just a blank spot on the screen.
I am trying to install Adobe Flash Player on my operating system, my vendor is Red Hat. Then, when I click the Dump File of where I archived the adobe flash player, it states "No Packages were given for installation".So Now it does not want to run itself on the kernel, but I also noticed that there is a "Adobe v10 Bug" right next to where the rpm package was archived. Is there something I might have overlooked?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just installed Ubuntu 11.04. The drive was formatted when I installed so it's 100% Ubuntu. The only major problem I have encountered is that Ubuntu will not recognize my SD cards. I really need to access these cards, all my film footage is on there. I think the internal SD card reader (If such a thing exists) would have been deleted during the installation process. I am a greenthumb to Ubuntu and have never used it before so I am rather stuck...
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a backup HDD with a different distro for my laptop and i can boot into it via external usb or if swapped into the laptop. This HDD/install in question is debian testing and was working fine, the issue arose suddenly. I was first suspecting a failure of hardware somewhere on the motherboard, but the hdd i was using with an external usb adapter also works when installed into the machine. also, the HDD is recognized once i have booted using the external HDD and distro, but it is not recognized by the bios. so i dunno, my first guess is something became corrupt within the testing install, but i guess its also possible that there is some wrong with the HDD but thats not immediately apparent as all the data is still accessible.
Should also note that the HDD with testing on it is also recognized when connected via the external usb adapter, while booted from alternative distro/HDD.
Also. just tried this, but i can get the testing HDD/disto to boot if connected externally. it was going pretty quick, but there i did catch a line about a corrupt filesystem. any commands to run to see what might be going on?? log files to look at?
when i try to access synaptic package manager and update manager or ububtu software center. the screen will flash and be gone
