Got the strange problem with Evolution. I've got two inboxes, and one of them has suddenly emptied - don't know what I did. Also, when I try and send a test message to the emptied inbox, nothing happens, although the message gets through on my gmail account.

To send mail to user1. User are not able to send mail to public. Some service like hylafax using this local mail service to send notification of fax status.
I don't want to manage and maintain local mail service anymore. I have subscribed a package from ISP to host a public domain of my own. I wish to have my hylafax service to able to send the notification mails to public mail server, is that possible to do it? It is great if all mails that send to local mail server may forward to public mail server. That makes the local mail service serve mail forward only.
when all the other messages in my inbox suddenly disappeared. I have checked all the folders in evolution and tried showing hidden message (from the view menu) while looking in each folder in case I had managed to do something really weird by mistake, but they appear to have vanished. The message I dragged over to the new folder is however there!
The other weird thing is that the trash folder has randomly partially emptied itself at the same time, and it is not set to empty itself on exiting the program.What have I done and how do I get them back??? I don't care about the trash but need the inbox messages back.
my ~/Downloads directory has been emptied on reboot several times, I can't figure out any common circumstance. I've been told on freenode that this might be some kind of ext4 (which I have as the filesystem for /home - mounted device) shortcoming.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have (had) most of my pictures backed up on Ubuntu One. I have several Computers and everything was in sync. The first time took weeks as I have around 20GB of pictures and a mediocre internet connection. So I installed Ubuntu 11 on one PC, and as I wanted to repartition things, I took a copy of the Ubuntu One folder, then reinstalled from fresh. When it was done, I copied the Ubuntu One folder back. Ubuntu One didn't seem to like this, and has basically decided to upload everything again, but my used space is not showing up as 1.8GB. Where have my online files gone?

Does anybody know what scripts CentOS 5.4 (Final) needs in the cron.daily?

And done the points up to "Advanced mail server" and are trying to test mailing mail@mydomain.com to mail@mydomain.com (yes, the same inbox) using Thunderbird, through my own DNS, from the server.
But I get the following error: The message can not be sent because the connection to SMTP server mydomain.com timed out.
And when I check /var/spool/mail/virtual where the mailboxes are supposed to be stored there are none.
So I'm wondering how I create a mailbox with postfix.
I can add that I am quite a noob at linux but have to do this in a school project.
I'm using ubuntu server 10.04 32bit with GUI (yes I know, I know)
running squirrelmail, postfix and dovecot, I filter out mails which are spam into a spambox and non-spam into the inbox but by default, the user is not subscribed to the spambox and therefore, the spambox is not visible to the user, how can I make it such that each time a user is created he or she is automatically subscribed to the spambox?

I'm just getting started with postfix for the first time (using courier pop) and everything is working well. However I can't seem to figure out how to only allow some system users to have mailboxes?
For example I have a few accounts which are FTP only accounts but they still have mailboxes under postfix? Is there any way to tell postfix the accounts that I actually want mailboxes for?
Also on a side note, I notice that mail seems to be stored under the user's home directory. I'm scared they may accidentally delete them.

I've been running the Evolution mail system under Fedora-15/KDE for about a month now, and it has some very serious problems. I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. I had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Now when i try to install evolution from the software centre i get this: Package dependencies cannot be resolved This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.

I'm getting the following messages sent to my root account mailbox. It appears to be reporting an issue finding ntpdate, however when running the following command:
aptitude show ntpdate | grep State
It shows as installed and any ntpdate commands work with no issues, so I have no idea why this is getting regularly reported?

I'm setting up the Squirrelmail | impad | sendmail combination and so far everything appears in order but I'm getting a 'mailbox not found' error when I log into Squirrelmail. I've eliminated Squirrelmail by using another imap client (Mozilla Thunderbird) and getting the same error. It seems that the problem is with imapd.I've checked the logs and I can see only the successful login entries. Nothing else:

Why is the ip masked, can u get software to trace the ip of the gateway from the windows pc, the 196 ip is I suppose a public ip as it is the ip of my lease line? We've been asked to configure sendmail to forward a copy of pilot users emails to the new mailstore (Zimbra) as well as the old (Sun Messaging).
I'm not exactly sure how to do this. I've tried modifying aliases to forward to 2 destinations, but ldap routing seems to take precedence before aliases.
