I upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04 and empathy has stopped working for me. Gives following error message from terminal

Empathy version is 2.34.0-0ubuntu3 and libtelepathy-glib0 version is 0.14.3-1ubuntu1
I accidentally installed a partial upgrade, and Empathy was removed from the indicator applet (next to Evolution Mail under the envelope icon). How can I restore it? PS: When this happened, I had no idea that partial upgrades could cause problems in our PCs, such as removing packages..

They seem to be stuck on the GNOME default icon set for it, I have tried using the Elementary icon theme for Empathy but to no avail, I have also tried completely removing and then installing the application, removing the folder in USR/Share and repeating. Nothing.. Can anyone help me get either Ubuntu's icon set for Empathy or Elementary's working?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to Lucid Lynx. I hadn't used Evolution before so I don't know what exactly is supposed to happen but its not showing any of my mails. I entered in my hotmail account but its just now showing any mails and when I click on Send/Receivet asks me for my password but when I type it in, it still doesn't work.Empathy is also not working properly. I could sync my facebook chat account with it but in the broadcast accounts option my facebook page just doesn't get updated.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to use video call in skype or empathy, either is fine. Neither works. In Skype I can receive video but it doesn't broadcast mine at all. In empathy it shows my video right up to the second the call connects, then the 'video call' crashes.
edit: cam is definitely working (works fine in cheese and other cam apps) just not broadcasting
I have four different desktops, or workspaces, on here. I use one for a web browser, another for instant messaging, the third for Evolution, and the fourth for whatever, usually working in folders or word documents or whatnot. Whenever someone sends me a message on Empathy and I'm not focused on the chat window it dings. This is true for desktops 2-4, but when I'm on workspace 1 whether my web browser is minimized or not I don't get the notification sound, the persons message just appears as a notification panel.

I have 7.04 edubuntu from our government as I am a teacher and I got laptop. So I am asking can I upgrade to 7.10 or some newer version?? If not at all, why is not working the repo sites, I mean I don't get why is not working the upgrade manager.

I've searched but cannot find anything useful. I've re-entered the details to make sure they're correct, reinstalled the pptp package.

I'm not entirely sure this is the proper place for it, but aee doesn't work anymore after upgrading to 10.10. In both gnome terminal & konsole it says "sorry, unable to use this terminal type for screen editing" and exits. It does this remotely even through ssh sessions.
I know aee isn't exactly a new program or anything but what gives? It's a terminal window, how could a console based text editor go wrong.
I had Ubuntu 10.10 installed on my main computer. Having been trying out 11.04 for quite awhile, I decided to install it on my main computer after it was officially released. I did this via an upgrade. Problem is now that I'm not getting any options for unity 3D. On the log on screen i have an option for unity 2D and unity, however both are unity 2D. My computer has a built in graphics card, nothing amazing, but i have happily used compiz effects on it previous to this.
My graphics card is up to it so why is the unity session falling back to unity 2D? Another problem that I'm having is that i cannot get the launcher in unity 2D to move out of the way. I even installed a programme called 2D Desktop Setting to try to fix this problem but selecting the various options to show, hide, autohide, etc have no effect at all and it's really frustrating having the launcher covering up the left side of my screen.
I've been having a problem with Deluge ever since upgrading to Natty. The problem is, it doesn't open anymore. I have the deluge-team ppa's set up and I tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but this did nothing. When I try running Deluge via the terminal using "deluge-gtk", I get this error:

thunderbird not working after upgrade I finally got around to doing some more testing after I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.x to 10.x and now Thunderbird wont work right. It wont let me see the messages correctly. its slow and takes forever to load. I cannot read mail or switch between accounts easily any more. Do i need to remove it and reload? Will I lose all my email and my account settings?

The funny part is that the virtual machines are working perfectly because I can access them via ssh/ftp/etc.
I just can't access the libvirt interface. For example, if I issued (as root):
virsh -c qemu://system
I halts with Connecting to uri: qemu:///system error: failed to connect to the hypervisor
Is there a trace/debug that I can verify ?
I'm trying to upgrade from Rhythmbox 12.5 to Rhythmbox 12.8. I did everything, I'm supposed to...I think. But when open Rhythmbox and click on "help -> about" I still get 12.5 as the version number. Here is what I've done:
1. Downloaded tar ball from rhythmbox site
2. Unzipped it to desktop
3. Ran apt-get update

Just trying to analyse why there are so many issues with dual boot after the upgrade.
My story is,
1. I had only Windows xp on my computer
2. I installed Windows 7 RC on a partition
3. I uninstalled Windows 7 RC around april
4. Removed Windows 7 bootloader using [DVD Drive Letter]:ootootsect.exe /nt52
5. Installed ubuntu 9.10 into a new partition with grub as dual-boot
6. Upgraded to 10.04 and XP was not working using dual boot
Want to know how many people used Windows 7 bootsect to clean up the bootloader on their machines, maybe that has something to do with why XP is not clean.
The swap partition is not working on my computer, I just upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04. I don't remember whether it was working or not in 9.10. Here is the output from TOP:

I am new to Ubuntu so I am not quite familiar with UNIX commands yet. I would like to know how to find the ID of my swap partition (I am positive the there is one) and what lines to add or change in my FSTAB to activate the swap partition.
After upgrading to 10.4 from 9.8, my keyboard wouldn't work on the startup menu, I then went to the console and it worked perfectly. I'm new to Linux so don't know a lot about it. I also tried to reinstall it using:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh -a
But it always stops and return "This page is not dpkg-info anymore, but GNU install info
