View 3 RepliesI am trying to download the flash player plugin from the partner repo and it is giving me a forbidden error. Here is my system info. Lucid i386 fully updated with the exception of that package. Internet is a wireless ISP here in iraq for the military. I can download packages from other repos just not anything from the adobe-flashplugin_10.1.102.65-1lucid1 family any contacts for this repo? The internet here is painfully slow so I cannot do much goggling
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't have repo [URL] installed, so I need to download and install it. I remember that almost 3 weeks ago I've downloaded repo, and I was running it from his folder, but I think I've deleted the folder. If I Google "download repo", I can't find any page from where I could download repo application.

is there a way to actually download the entire fedora repo? i've a friend with dialup who cannot install big things and i want to just downlaod the repository for him. i know ubuntu has some sort of way of doing this. i tried the following:
Code:
sudo yum --downloadonly --downladdir=~/fedora_repo install *.i?86
but this seems to, aside from all sorts of conflicting packages only get the things i dont have installed.
I want to download all packages of fedora(14) and make a repo but I don't know how it is.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with the Flash plugin since yesterday. It is caused by a file which is not available in the repo:
[Code]...
download failed The Flash plugin is NOT installed. In that archive the file adobe-flashplugin_10.0.42.34.orig.tar.gz is missing, but there is a file for 10.0.45.2. I couldn't figure out how I can install this version (does not even show up when I select all software sources including backports).
I can't seem to update the repository indexes regardless of which official server/mirror I use. I pick one server from the built-in software sources list and then I get this:
W:Failed to fetch ftp://ftp.fi.debian.org/debian/dists/squeeze/updates/contrib/source/Sources.gz
Unable to fetch file, server said 'Failed to open file. ' [IP: 130.230.54.99 21],

Now how can that be? Shouldn't the built-in repository addresses be correct? My installation is one week old clean install. Since then I've installed broadcom wlan-drivers (I tried repo update w/ wired connection too) and Dropbox but other than that I'm pretty clean.
After reading a lot of docs, I'm still having problems using wget to download a Centos repo from a mirror. Here's my best attempt so far:
$cd /repos/centos/5.4
$wget -r -nH --cut-dirs=3 -np [URL]
Of course I get all the unwanted index files etc, but I seem to get a lot of other downloads from the mirror, not just their 5.4 directory. It's like it's following other links on the web pages. Maybe I should be using "ftp://" instead of "http://" considering it's an ftp site, but I seem to have connection problems that way.

View 9 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I was trialing a SUSE 11.1 SP1 version for a while and somehow I have NO clue it attempted to change itself to a OpenSUSE 11.1 System. I have no clue what I did, please don't ask Now though I have been successful in turning into an OpenSUSE 11.2 system by changing the repositories to OpenSUSE 11.2, doing a "zypper refresh", "Zypper in Zypper", "Zypper dup -d", "Zypper dup". I also did a repair and refreshed the base packages with an OpenSUSE 11.2 DVD and that seemed to help also. The only thing it seems I can get right is that yast/yast2 give me this error: Download failed: Failed to download ./repo/repoindex.xml from https://nu.novell.com/?cookies=0&cre...NCCcredentials

I've installed a standalone system (no internet connection), and now I would like to add more software from the 7CD I used for the clean installation. I've enabled the 'media-repo' and disabled any other, but when I go to the main menu '->remove/install software' the System shows the message 'Can't find repomd.xml file...' and stops.
What can I do to enable this method?
i'm attempting to know and understand fedora more and i will spend probably the next month pouring through all the forums and documents to answer more of my own questions. but there's quite a bit here, so i'd thought i'd ask some noob questions to get me started a little.
ive installed fedora 14 64bit and chosen only kde as the desktop. i selected an extra 2 repos besides the default, fedora 14 -x86_64 and fedora 14-x86_64 -updates. i believe this kernel is installed: 2.6.35.11-83
1. i can only see the 2 extra repo's as being "checked" in kpackagekit, shouldn't i see the default repo also ?
2. i dont have an applet in the system tray indicating the system is up to date, does fedora have this by default ? also after a clean install i ran yum check-update and yum update but the message sayes: "no packages marked for update". i'm not sure if the system is auto-updated during install or not, but with other distros iv tried there is always atleast a few updates needing to be done after install.
3. is kpackagekit the fedora gui package manager ? i dont see any others.
4. i want to upgrade to nvidia drivers, but i think i am missing a non-free repo or something. when i enter: yum install kmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686 xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.x86_64 i get messages stating "no package" i get the same message with yum install nvidia-settings.i also tried this: LANG=C yum --enablerepo=rpmfusion-nonfree info akmod-nvidia but it sayes repo not found.
I've been carefully installing and personalizing a Debian 8 "Jessie" 64-bit install on my laptop for the last few days. Played some games, did some downloading and stuff and decided to want to run steam again, as I have done on many Ubuntu installs in the past.
So I followed this guide: [URL] ....
and of course, I read the warnings: Only do this on Jessie or SID, not on Wheezy. So I was in the clear. I thought.
After giving 'aptitude install steam' all hell broke loose. The script starting demolishing/removing almost everything under the KDE shell. Wireless network, apps, even the ability to reboot the system from the GUI were utterly and completely destroyed. After the script ended I had to reboot the system through an alternate CLI shell only to discover X was complete gone.
So I don't think there is anything else I can do now except re-installing the complete system? Bye bye Wesnoth saved games, downloads, etcetera...
Will KDE4.4 eventually move into the 11.2 updates or do I have to add the KDE Factory repo to get this update?

If I disable the repo-non-oss repository the update works fine. The URL I have for the repo-non-oss repository is:
Index of /distribution/11.0/repo/non-oss
This has been going on for over a week. Do I need to use a different URL for the non-oss repository? I live in New York, United States.
I wasn't paying proper attention when adding a repo to yast and need to find the file were the info is saved to delete this. The problem is that whenever i use yast it comes up with an error code saying that it can't find the data for the 'problem' repo. Have tried zypper rm but that comes up with a similar error advising that the data is in a format that was not expected. My thinking is to track the file were the yast repo source details are saved, delete this and then just add the repos that i use back.

Microsoft .NET 4
I download Microsoft .NET (from the link below) in order to install Web Expression software. But as soon as I use wine to install .NET, I run into an error & it stops. It's a typical Microsoft Windows kind of error message that asks if you want to send the result or problem back to their website, & I just click on yes. I tried several websites, including the following for downloading .NET onto Ubuntu. I don't have Windows.

I have installed things off wine before. Wine is working. But .NET is not.
I just changed mobos and now have a 64-bit machine. My old mobo was 32-bit, so that's the version of Ubuntu I have. When I go to download the latest version of Ubuntu, the only choice I'm given is to download another 32-bit version. How do I download a 64-bit version of Ubuntu from a 32-bit system?
