View 5 Replies View Relatedis there a way to actually download the entire fedora repo? i've a friend with dialup who cannot install big things and i want to just downlaod the repository for him. i know ubuntu has some sort of way of doing this. i tried the following:
Code:
sudo yum --downloadonly --downladdir=~/fedora_repo install *.i?86
but this seems to, aside from all sorts of conflicting packages only get the things i dont have installed.
I download all packages of Fedora 12 64 bit and all rpmfusion packages , all of them free and nonfree. all of them is near 20GB, I download all of them by rsync.I download them in work,In home I use Fedora12 64 bit and do not have internet connection , I copy all packages with USB flash and copy them to my Fedora box , and I want install VLC and other codecs and Nvidia driver for some games. What I must do ?I said again I do not have internet connection in home but I have all packages , free and nofree and rpmfusion packages

Is there a package that I can install that will satisfy this dependency? I am unable to locate anything other than the source here and here, but I'm also unsure if this is even the right package or if source this old is what gopdder is asking for. I'm looking for a package.
I am creating custom install media using the Fedora Core 14 DVD as a base and I have gathered all of the packages and their dependencies I require using the yumdownloader command.I made sure to download the @core group along with the ones listed above. The problem I'm running into is that I don't know how to update the media's repo information to reflect some of the updated packages I have downloaded. So when I go to install on the device, it's saying it can't read/open a certain package and you can see that it's looking for an older version because I'm guessing its repo is telling anaconda that this is the specific version to look for. I'm looking for a way to "update" the repo found on the installation media.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have successfully installed fedora 10 and have rpmfusion in my /home/ directory. i don't know how to edit yum.conf to make yum install from this local repo. i tried once. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been playing with Fedora for about a week and half. I installed Fedora 12 from a live CD that I created with the ISO I downloaded.
Since installing it I have enabled RPM Fusion for codecs, also installed a couple of rpms from ATRPMS by temporarily enabling it.
What puzzles me is that I have a large number of packages that yum tells me came from rawhide, yet I never enabled rawhide.
You will see below my list of repos. I am attaching the full list of packages installed.
I was wondering if there is a possibility to configure yum in such way that it would download and install packages at the same time? What i mean is that after downloading certain package it continues to download the next one but at the same time it is installing the one it has already downloaded? Is it possible in fedora? I remeber back when i was using openSUSE 11.2 that the behaviour of the installer was configurable and would let users to choose if they want to download all packages first and then install them or download a package, keep downloading next ones but install the already downloaded ones .

View 6 Replies View RelatedI want to install some things on machine without internet connection. There is something like packages.ubuntu.com or debian.packages.org for Fedora? Well - as you can see on this site i can see packages with depends (ex. frozen-bubble): click to Debian packages site, click for packages.ubuntu.com. I can download packages with their depends easily from that sites. How i can get rpm with depends? I need to collect everything on usb flash drive and install on off-line machine without any problems. I can download single rpm with yumdownloader but i need depends too. Koji not satisfy me - no depends info. I need to download few apps from repo (on machine with internet connection), but with their depends - how? Or maybe there is something like Keryx for rpm-based distros?

View 8 Replies View Relatedi'm attempting to know and understand fedora more and i will spend probably the next month pouring through all the forums and documents to answer more of my own questions. but there's quite a bit here, so i'd thought i'd ask some noob questions to get me started a little.
ive installed fedora 14 64bit and chosen only kde as the desktop. i selected an extra 2 repos besides the default, fedora 14 -x86_64 and fedora 14-x86_64 -updates. i believe this kernel is installed: 2.6.35.11-83
1. i can only see the 2 extra repo's as being "checked" in kpackagekit, shouldn't i see the default repo also ?
2. i dont have an applet in the system tray indicating the system is up to date, does fedora have this by default ? also after a clean install i ran yum check-update and yum update but the message sayes: "no packages marked for update". i'm not sure if the system is auto-updated during install or not, but with other distros iv tried there is always atleast a few updates needing to be done after install.
3. is kpackagekit the fedora gui package manager ? i dont see any others.
4. i want to upgrade to nvidia drivers, but i think i am missing a non-free repo or something. when i enter: yum install kmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686 xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.x86_64 i get messages stating "no package" i get the same message with yum install nvidia-settings.i also tried this: LANG=C yum --enablerepo=rpmfusion-nonfree info akmod-nvidia but it sayes repo not found.
I would like to create some packages for programs that use the Git software to manage the source, I want to do this directly using the source code in the Git repo as the source code form the package. Does anyone have any hints or directions on how to do this? I been looking round the web for information about this, but all I seem to find is for about storing and build Debian packages from git, this is not what I want to do as these packages are for personal use and I have no need for this.

View 5 Replies View RelatedCome across these repositories when looking for packages not included in the standard repo.
Index of /repositories/security/openSUSE_11.3
Index of /repositories/openSUSE:/11.3:/Contrib/standard
what these repositories are for? Are they part of the official/maintained by openSUSE repository?
I can't seem to update the repository indexes regardless of which official server/mirror I use. I pick one server from the built-in software sources list and then I get this:

E:Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
Now how can that be? Shouldn't the built-in repository addresses be correct? My installation is one week old clean install. Since then I've installed broadcom wlan-drivers (I tried repo update w/ wired connection too) and Dropbox but other than that I'm pretty clean.
Code:

After reading a lot of docs, I'm still having problems using wget to download a Centos repo from a mirror. Here's my best attempt so far:
$cd /repos/centos/5.4
$wget -r -nH --cut-dirs=3 -np [URL]
Of course I get all the unwanted index files etc, but I seem to get a lot of other downloads from the mirror, not just their 5.4 directory. It's like it's following other links on the web pages. Maybe I should be using "ftp://" instead of "http://" considering it's an ftp site, but I seem to have connection problems that way.
I couldn't make the torrents to download. it is always in the checking state.
