Does anybody got Creative Live Ultra VF0060 web cam worked on Ubuntu 10.04.2? This one got recognized by system when I use lsusbs. But either cheese or some other software doesn't recognize that.

I have tried alll the suggestions posted here and other places on the net. Here is my output from lsusb.

any way i can transfer files back and forth to this would be great since it does not work in vista either. and I am pretty sure 99.9% that I have all the libmtp, libnjb, and whatever other libs are needed installed but in gnomad it says no devices found on USB hub. I hope this is enough info and someone out there has the trick or maybe I am missing something obvious.
I'm new to Ubuntu, but have some experience with *NIX (specifically Red Hat and AIX.) I'm not getting any bass out of my 4.1 Logitech THX setup. The surround speakers are operating fine. I know that the bass unit itself is working because I was using it with windows on this computer before I made the switch to Ubuntu. If I run a speaker test from either the sound preferences or the terminal, the speakers work but the bass does not. I ran this command from a terminal to help with the diagnostic effort, but I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at:

I have been searching for an answer to this question for some time now and can't see to find the relevant information anywhere.
I install a copy from an iso of Fedora 14 on a old Dell Computer with some upgrades not prepriatary hardware. One of the hardware problems I am having is getting my Creative Soundblaster 5.1 Live card to work with Fedora 14. I have been looking for a driver and as of yet have not found one that works well. Do you have any suggestions regarding this so I can do some site development on this machine.

In the others distros (Gentoo, Sabayon, Fedora, Puppy...) the mic run very good, but in Ubuntu i can't record any sound. I can ear the sound exit from the speaker, but with sw like Sound Recorder, Audacity and Skype i can't record the sound. I tried EVERY setting in alsa mixer/Gnome alsa mixer but I can't resolve the problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone ever experienced an issue with a Creative Sound Blaster Live! Value Dell OEM sound card, models SB0200 and SB0203, using the EMU10K1X chip that causes any multimedia application (Amarok) or flash web site where the audio plays back way too fast?
I tried this on two different Dells, a Dimension 4600 and Dimension 8300. The only variable that was a constant was the Creative card. I took the OEM card out and put in another card, audio playback speed was fine. The only reason I am asking, even though the OEM card is slightly inferior, it has the front panel multimedia connector pins on the OEM card. Thus, if I use another card, either the front panel multimedia jacks become unusable or I have to turn on the integrated sound in the BIOS and run two sound cards.
yesterday I upgraded of my ubuntu release from 10.04 to 10.10 and now, when I plug my mp3 creative zen player it doesn't work.The same player works very well with 10.04 and I can upload my mp3s directly from rythmnbox using drag&drop.Here my /var/log/syslog

Just a quick how-to, to get mic working with Creative Labs SB X-Fi on Ubuntu 10.10 64bit. This is a result of my conversation with a 'friend' I met on #ubuntu on irc.freenode.net, To begin, this is the card we are talking about:

This card uses "snd-ctxfi" module for the audio output.
And this is how he got the mic to work using alsamixer. I have seen many thread/posts on the internet about this issue.
I just installed a copy of Ubuntu 11.04 yesterday on a spare computer. I'm having trouble getting the front panel of my Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty to work. The sound card works just fine when I plug my headphones into the analog stereo output in the back. I'm not trying to do anything fancy with it right now like digital optical out or anything, just trying to get the one analog output on the front panel to work so I can plug my headphones in up front and leave the speakers plugged in the back.

I'm using ubuntu karmic 9.10. I used to transfer songs to/from my Creative Zen Micro firmware 1.11.01) using gnomad2 2.9.4 with no problem at all. Suddenly it stopped working. Gnomad2 seems to detect the zen micro but it hangs when "retrieving metadata from jukebox". system-> preferences -> hardware ->sound

Using Opensuse 11.3 (on an AMD64bit machine) and the latest version of the 32bit Skype package for Opensuse. Installed via links on skype.com (inc. mentioned dependencies on the skype website)Sound works fine but my webcam doesn't. It's a creative webcam instant model number: VF-0040.It works OK in Kopete, and is recognized as ZC3xx. In Skype the only webcam option is /dev/video0 which I can clearly see is not correct.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently i put a DAC connected to the CL X-FI board via the SPDIF interface. Result is i can listen only one channel, the left one (hedaphone) while using the xmms, audacious.
The thing is that i'm able to listen both channels if i use the VLC configured with the same output, that is hw:2,4.

i tried to install ubuntu 9.10 on a single boot computer running 9.04 but was faced with the following problems :
i cant update to 9.10 because for reasons unknown to me i cant get connected to the internet
tried live cd and a usb boot but both of them weren't recognized
I'm trying to add more memory to Ubuntu from my windows partition, but Gparted doesn't seem to recognize the windows partiton. I've done it before using the gparted live cd, so i don't know why it wont recognize the partition. Is there some way to mount it so I can move space around?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an old HP PC with 2 drives: Primary (C = 20GB) and a slave (E = 60GB). I have Windows XP Pro OS (which I want to completely replace with Ubuntu). Ubuntu 10.10 is installed on E as a side-by-side (with XP on C). I am done testing Ubuntu and now want to completely replace the XP OS.Ubuntu is installed on E-drive as a partition. ISSUE: When I log on the PC goes directly to the GRUB menu but I get no option to boot from the Live Disk 10.10 during the boot-up.
HISTORY: I have tried (unsuccessfully) to remove Ubuntu from my E-drive by use of the uninstall function from Windows control panel. I have also tried to remove it using the manage/Disk Management process but the "Format" and "Delete" options are unavailable (grayed out) so cannot use that. I would like to do a complete clean up and fresh install of Ubuntu as my only OS.I have read and tried a number of internet articles / recommendations about opening BIOS and redirecting the start-up to the disk, but I do not get any option or any time during the boot to do that.
QUESTIONS:
1) How can I get my HP PC to boot from (recognize) the Ubuntu Live Disk (CD)?
2) Would a complete removal and clean reinstallation be a better approach?
3) And how can I remove Ubuntu from the partition on E (as I want to dedicate the C-drive exclusively for Ubuntu)?
This is my first post so please be patient. I am unfamiliar with this part of the installation process.
Live CD: I dowloaded the ISO, burned it to CD, booted from this CD. It starts to load and I can see the purple background with the loading icons. Everything seems normal. But instead of ending up with the login screen, it ends up with a screen that says 'Please remove all bootup media and hit ENTER' or something like this. So I hit enter and then it shuts off my computer. That's it.
Live Stick: So I tried another option and created a stick with 'usb-creator.exe' that is on the CD. Then I start from that stick, but all I end up is a line of 'Syslinux bla bla copyright 20xx-2011'. That's it. Then it does nothing anymore. The cursor is blinking, but no prompt or whatsoever and keyboard input doesn't do anything.
Now something weird: When I insert Live CD and Live Stick at the same time and then boot my computer, then it boots into Ubuntu. Obviously it loads the first parts from CD and then the rest from stick. Because when I'm then in Ubuntu and try to format the stick, it says it can't do so, because there's system files from that stick in use.
I can't seem to find this anywhere. I have burned Debian 5.06 for i386 and trying to login when running the live cd. What is the username and password to get in?

i tried to install fce ultra. i downloaded the source from the site, and followed instructions. Everything seems to have gone well but, when i try to run it, i get a pop up saying

I'm new to the linux thing. I've just installed Ubunto 10.04 on my Dell Studio (Core i7, 8Gb RAM).Whenever I boot Windows now, it takes AGES. Atleast about 10 minutes to be fully operational with decent speed of app loading. I know it's mentioned in the Ubuntu documentation that booting will slow "a little bit" but my 4-months old semi decent computer is now behaving a bit like my Commodore 64 used to when it was on tape drive

I recently rebooted my computer, switching from Vista to Ubuntu 10.10, 32 bit. I've had troubles with my webcam ever since. I've tried every single suggestion from the Ubuntu Forums and nothing works, and I am now quite desperate..
I'm installed Cheese but nothing else than a green dotted screen appears, I've also tried gucview which tells me that my webcam is recognized under the name of USB 2.0 Camera.
When I enter lsusb in the terminal, here is what appears:

The webcam doesn't work with any program, but since it does partially work with Cheese, I would think that I either have to install an additional driver or that my camera is not compatible with Ubuntu, which would really suck.
The closest similar case I've found on the net was this one : [URL] . Apparently it's about a Bug 16575 but the problem doesn't seem to have been resolved either.
Have installed Centos5 in SUN VirtualBox with Windows XP as host as a safeway to familiarize with Linux.The system works well,except I cannot get my printer to be recognized (Canon MP170),which is working on Windows.Is there any Command line instructions which will fix this,or any other solutions?

Now, the system will only boot in recovery mode, and then at 640x480 resolution. When booting, it gives the option to return to default or manually configure, but if I try to select either option and click OK, nothing happens. Once in the GUI, it shows no proprietary hardware drivers installed. Is there a way to roll back the changes I made, or return to more default settings without reinstalling the OS?
