I can't seem to find this anywhere. I have burned Debian 5.06 for i386 and trying to login when running the live cd. What is the username and password to get in?

I found 'user' and 'live' but they don't work.
Live CD: I dowloaded the ISO, burned it to CD, booted from this CD. It starts to load and I can see the purple background with the loading icons. Everything seems normal. But instead of ending up with the login screen, it ends up with a screen that says 'Please remove all bootup media and hit ENTER' or something like this. So I hit enter and then it shuts off my computer. That's it.
Live Stick: So I tried another option and created a stick with 'usb-creator.exe' that is on the CD. Then I start from that stick, but all I end up is a line of 'Syslinux bla bla copyright 20xx-2011'. That's it. Then it does nothing anymore. The cursor is blinking, but no prompt or whatsoever and keyboard input doesn't do anything.
Now something weird: When I insert Live CD and Live Stick at the same time and then boot my computer, then it boots into Ubuntu. Obviously it loads the first parts from CD and then the rest from stick. Because when I'm then in Ubuntu and try to format the stick, it says it can't do so, because there's system files from that stick in use.

I seem to remember there is a section for questions about other distros but I can't find it anymore. I have made a live usb from a Debian testing live image (.img) using the dd command. It all worked well and it booted flawlessly. But then when it booted into the Debian screen it asked for my user name and password. I never set any user name and password so of course I couldn't log in.

I have no idea what the login and password is I've looked all over google and people said it was user: live pass: live or something like that. I've tried a lot of different combinations with no luck. The most confusing line is "Warning: cryptsetup is unavailable" - I took a look into the scripts, it checks if cryptsetup and askpass is executable if not this message. But:
I mounted the hdd-img file local and took a look: all binaries there.
So I tried a lot getting it working on boot time. I tried it with live-tools from testing, from wheezy and last but not least installed and pinned live-tools to unstable. Always the same. askpass isn't executable on boot time before mounting the persistence.

and yes, cryptsetup is inside package-list (otherwise live-persistence from within running machine with crypted partitions would not work). Live tools I used for last run is 4.0.3-1 from unstable, before tried with 4.0.2-1 from testing.
Whats going wrong in boot system?
I need aufs support/patch for kernel 2.6.34.1 as i i need to create a live linux distro for my organization and linux live scripts (the scripts which I am using for creating live linux distro) require aufs and squashfs support. There is a directive for squashfs in kernel configuration file but nothing for aufs and the patch available at linux-live site seems not to work.

His PC is more than capable of running ubuntu 32 bit BUT I've hit a brick wall I've never come across before. I've burnt a CD image of the 10.04 iso from [URL] on my ubuntu box and for some reason, his PC just won't boot from it. If I select the option to manually select the boot source, all I see is the hardware monitor telling me things like CPU temperature. As for the Live USB - nothing whatsoever. Is it possible that I've managed to corrupt the iso file somehow?

Now the problem is whenever I try to create live usb using Opensuse live ISO image after extracting all files to usb , it gets failed.The same thing is happening with OpenSolaris 11 live cd iso image. Does this mean that live usb creater I have, was only foe Fedora distros?

I'm booting from a 16GB Flash USB now, with just about everything working, audio, video, wireless, etc. I'd like to remove some of the "live" features of the OS now, to make it more a bootable 9.10 full install. View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded and installed Ubuntu 10.10 from live-cd, this is a dual-boot system with windows xp pro installed. Ubuntu installed, but during install there were warnings of certain files that couldn't copy and I'd like to view them if there's a log containing those errors. I can boot into xp pro with no problem. I've logged into Ubuntu maybe 3x. The first time I tried it succeeded. After that it 's been hit and miss.
I've been able to get into system using live-cd and so far I've only found buffer error, I beleive that is drm related.
The machine is an:
emachine T-1221
celeron 1.3Ghz processor
512Meg ram
IntelDirect AGP 3D
As I do have internet connection while using live-cd, I can post whatever necessary files that are needed. In fact I'm going to boot it up and post output of dmesg.
Before I start, I have searched everywhere I can for help with this, tried everything suggested and still cant do this.

I need to access some things in "documents and settings" folders (my windows xp crashed). I believe I need to be root user in linux to do this. I am running a ubuntu linux live (uninstalled) cd. I am new to linux and I do not know if this is even possible. I want to copy some things from documents and settings folder to an external drive (as backup) but I cannot access them as things are now (linux gives me an error when I try) but I would like to do it in gui so I can physically "see" everything and look through it.

I want to log in as a real user, without having to log out of the live user session first.I looked at all the options under system > administration > users&groups. Nothing seems applicable.PS, I did already create the real user and it's working fine. I just have to log out before I can log in as the right user.

However, when I load up the disc (boot from it), I get a login screen instead of a desktop or window asking for input.What am I doing wrong? View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter installing from the LXDE live CD I am unable to login. I type in my username, and then my password, and then the prompt goes back to the username (in other words, nothing happens). I can however login via the virtual terminals.
Could this be an issue with the live cd? Or was it just a bad install?
I decided to put a copy of Ubuntu 11.04 on a USB stick. Downloaded the image file and USB installer and built the stick with no problems. I REALLY don't like the new interface, so I went to the login screen tool and changed the login to come up in Classic mode. Trouble is, now when I try to bring the system up I'm presented with a log-in screen that asks for a user name and password. Since I'm using a live image (akin to a live CD) I don't have any user name or password established. Are there defaults that will allow me to log in? Or do I have to recreate the installation and create a user account that will let me log in?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am now at my 6th version of my opensuse build and I can't get it to start the graphical login.I am trying my build out on a VirtualBox using the live cd.This is what happens during installation :It will install properly. No error messages at all. I get the (graphical) options screen to select language and screen resolution settings, so far so good.I select the default (top) installation for my opensuse and hit enter.Then I will get the verbose progress and when it's finished, the verbose will ask me for my user name and password.Then I enter those correctly and the verbose will tell me to enjoy.I am then left with a blinking cursor, and don't know what to do next.
This is not what should have happened since in my build I had selected Configuration > Startup > Default runlevel > 5: Graphical loginI can find no reason for this failure since on my Windows system I have tried out several other Linux systems in the same way and never experienced this problem before.During the assembling of my packages I have payed close attention to select all packages required for a graphical login.An other problem is that although I selected the default language for my build to be Dutch, the default language during setup is still English.I hope there is someone who would be kind enough to be prepared to help me out, I am so eager to start trying out my self made OS.
I downloaded and followed the instructions at ubuntu.com step by step but wasn't able to boot from the live cd.I got several messages, some of those where GPU reset successful , many of them included radeon in the message so i am guessing it might be something with my graphics card. (ATI hd 4650)

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am having a problem with the installation with ubuntu 10.10 during the installation, i was entering my setup info (login password, timezone, etc.) when everything stopped working, it wouldnt let me continue, the forward button wouldnt work. i let it set for a good 30 minutes but it wouldnt do anything.
so unable to continue, i restarted and tried to boot from my cd drive and now it wont boot from the drive, and since i let ubuntu delete my windows partition, i cant boot from it so i basically have a blank hard drive. the cd drive will boot other cds because i booted hirens boot cd in an attempt to make sure the cd drive was functioning and ran diagnostics to make sure the drive was alright.
On a new ASUS eee PC 1015P, the Windows 7 o/s supplied works fine. Experimenting with a Fedora 14 Linux o/s, currently just booting to a Live User system on a USB Stick, there is no wireless networking. In case it is relevant, the wireless LAN Card details (as reported from lspci) are: Ralink RT3090 802.11n 1T/1R Wireless LAN Card Driver Version 3.1.6.1 Should I be expecting wireless to be working on the USB version, do I need to do a full install to get wireless or is it maybe a drivers problem?
