downloaded the java .bin file from the website and made it excutable and ran in terminal... i got the 'done' message at the end of installation, so i restarted Firefox and verified if i had java. well, i got that message talking about missing plugins... i clicked it and click get missing plugins, It didn't find java on my computer!

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter a month or so on a WUBI install (Lucid Lynx 64bit) I decided to pass to a clean install to a dedicated partition and here I am, almost happy. I have installed 5* ( uninstalled & installed) gedit-plugins package by every means I know of (apt-get from terminal, ubuntu software center, synaptics) and I also have downloaded and unzipped the package to ~/.gnome2/gedit/plugins folder. But none of the plugins is working.
I don't know if it is relevant, but i noticed the following: on my wubi installation i had installed gedit-plugins with apt-get and it had installed in the ~/.gnome2/gedit/plugins folder. Now I find the contents of the package in /usr/lib/gedit-2/plugins and /usr/lib64/gedit-2/plugins. I don't know if it has anything to do with anything.
We All know Gedit Autocomplete plugin (nagaozen / gedit-plugin-autocomplete 0.10.1). It has a cool feature where it reads words from a "Library". How to Edit that library?

I want to install the LaTeX plugin for gedit. There is a Ubuntu package for this, but it seems to want to install an entire TeX system in addition to the plugin. I keep my LaTeX current from the texlive distribution, and Ubuntu tends to a year behind in its LaTeX distribution. Question: Will the package installer detect that I have a current LaTeX system and not install an older version?

ive installed the classbrowser plugin for gedit, and installed it the correct manner, by copying all the contents of the download to the .gnome2/gedit/plugins folder. The side pane shows up when i enable the plugin but it doesnt seem to do anything (the pane is just blank). Do i need to do anything else to get it to work?

But the checkbox to enable it in gedit becomes grayed out once I click it and it doesn't enable. (note that I used "pip install ElasticTabstops" instead of "easy_install ElasticTabstops", because that's what Arch uses)
I need some plugin for Gedit (or maybe other HTML-editor) which will make tags of words, like: I type "div", hit some hotkeys or anything else with keyboard and get "<div></div>". The same with all the words I type in. Do you guys know which piece of software can do such things?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am cleaning up some text files to put on a website and am using the find/replace feature of Gedit extensively. The only problem I am having is that I can't find a way to use wildcards. For instance, I want to use the "?" and "*" in the same or similar way you do in bash. I already know that:
Represents a carriage return, and that is great, but I want to do something like: "?." to replace "A.", "B.", "1.", "2." with just plain spaces. The document in question is written in narrative, but has a bunch of outline markers in it, and I want to remove the outline markers.
I tried "escaping" the characters in a similar way as by using "?.", but that didn't work. Google was not very fruitful, and the Gedit help seems to be Gnome help and includes all kinds of useless info (for my problem) about wildcards in other programs.
Somehow gedit went ahead and modified its hotkeys to have save be nothing, and control s be find. How to get save back?

I was interested in trying out Gnash as an alternative to Adobe flash Player so I installed it using synaptic and also ticked the Gnash Mozilla Plugin.Well the plugin is not installed in Firefox? I don't like Firefox 4 and 5 so I uninstalled it and installed FF 3.6.19 manually in the /opt directory. It works really well. I wanted to add a java icedtea plugin to FF. But I can't use Synaptics. Synaptics does not see the FF 3.6.19 - it does not know it's there and will try an install FF5 if I use it to install that plugin - makes sense it would do that.
How do I get a java plugin installed considering how FF is implemented on my system?
I can download a deb installer for the plugin and use the archive manager to get manually get files out of it but what I've tried so far didn't work...

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter installing 11.4/LXDE which comes with FF 4 Beta, The openSUSE Flash Plugin package was automatically installed, but doesn't seem to be installed into FF properly. When FF > Addons is opened, no Flash plugin is listed. If you then attempt to install install Flash from Adobe, Adobe doesn't seem to recognize FF 4 as a supported browser.
On top of that, if you visit the nVidia site to explore OEM display drivers, their site is Flash driven and won't permit driver searching, must less browsing and possible downloading. This was important to me to try to obtain the OEM nVidia Configuration Manager which vastly enhances display management, particularly on the somewhat lean LXDE desktop.
After having installed Kaffeine on Ubuntu to use for watching Terrestrial Digital TV through my tv-tuner, on Lucid, Ubuntu 10.04.
After installing Kaffeine and the proprietary driver and firmware for the card, starting Kaffeine gave me the following error;
"kaffeine cannot find demux plugin for MRL"
I found this problem difficult to find a solution for; but did eventually find mention of a set of plugins which would provide what Kaffeine needs;

I installed this, along with all the Medibuntu plugins (just to make sure) and my Kaffeine then worked without troubles.
Basically, I think if i'd originally installed according to the instructions found at the Kaffeine community website: [url] i'd have had no troubles. However, I must say I expected all dependencies to be met simply through the apt-get install process. Not so for the plugins of course, as I should have known.
"The playback of this movie requires a SMB protocol source plugin which is not installed." I get this error when I try to play a movie from a samba share. This is a fresh install of Fedora 10 KDE. I installed all the necessary codecs using the rpmfusion repo. Movies play fine if I transfer them to my computer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried the "rpm", the "yum", and the "tar.gz" from the adobe site. Both rpms installed fine but I still can't view flash content in Firefox (missing plugin). The .tar.gz contained a .so file, but the installation instructions for the flash player said I should see an installer file in the .tar.gz, but I do not. I can't believe I can't even get flash player working. Their instructions said to check under "Help > About Plugins" but obviously Firefox does not and has never had such an option. I hate Adobe.
