Is there any gedit plugin, which expands folders of file browser side pane and shows currently editing file, while user switches between tabs?

ive installed the classbrowser plugin for gedit, and installed it the correct manner, by copying all the contents of the download to the .gnome2/gedit/plugins folder. The side pane shows up when i enable the plugin but it doesnt seem to do anything (the pane is just blank). Do i need to do anything else to get it to work?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is a known issue or not, but I have a strange problem when I scroll through certain applications. For example, whenever I scroll through songbird's lyrics pane or add-ons pane (does not affect the main library pane), the bottom 1/5 scrolls while the top 4/5 stays static. The same applies scrolling up, the top 1/5 scrolls and the rest stays static (the middle never moves either way I scroll).
I've tried using arrow keys to scroll, but it is the same issue. I vaguely remember another app that had this problem (can't think of it at the moment), so I don't think it's a songbird glitch. Does anyone else have this problem or a solution to it?
I figured out how to give folders the icon of my choosing (say, by digging through to /usr/share/icons/Humanity/places).
But, if I drag my newly decorated folder to the side pane so I can have easy access to it, it becomes an ordinary folder icon again.
I've looked through the options in gconf-editor for Nautilus, and there does not seem to be an obvious fix there. It should be doable, because if you drag, say, the Music or Photos folder to the side pane it maintains its custom icon.
How can I keep my chosen icon on a folder when I bring it to the side pane?
I was using KVpnc from 10.04 and today I upgraded to 11.04, however I am facing a lot of issues, here are a few
1. The minimized KVpnc disappears after connect, no clue where it goes, the other go to Unity Side Bar.
2. Once connected since I cannot see it, how do I disconnect it? I tried opening it from applications again, this time around it says it cannot resolve my VPN server.
3. I see multiple instances of KVpnc running when I do a ps -ef
I have upgraded to nautilus-elementary...What i wanted was the sidebar to show all the places like this in this picture..
but what i got is
the side bar shows details of the folder of file.
how i can restore the side bar as the first picture. in nautilus there was an option above the sidebar to change this..what to do in nautilus elementary.
In Nautilus I cannot drag and drop folders in side pane in tree view mode. Dragging by right click does not work on the right pane. Is there any way to enable such features?

It is easy to get them back by disabling and enabling the account, but then it may disappear again in a while.I saw this in a bug report later, but no fix. I shouldn't like to degrade to an earlier version, unless no other way.

Now with my new motherboard I need to plug in USB, and left and right side scroll is captured as the same as left and right on the directional pad. How can I re-assign my mouse as button 6 & 7?
Does anyone know why scroll left and right are set as keyboard left and right? Does anyone know how to fix it, or reassign the buttons?
I'm using rhel6. Using File Browser Nautilus 2.28.4 I could easily locate any file I'm interested in by it name. I'd like to use this File Browser to locate the file name based on it content e.g. based on some word in the text file. It doesn't work for me that way ... My question: does Nautilus support the search of file based on it content or only based on the name of the file itself?

The problem is, when I get to the part where I have to open the file in gedit, it says it can't open it, file not found, or something or other..So, when I manually browse to the directory '.local/share/..' there is no folder named 'applications,' only a text file. When I open it, it appears to be the home launcher file, but its in the wrong place and has the wrong name. What's going on? Shouldn't there be a folder there with my applications in it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI typed in a text file (Feb.txt) at work using the basic Microsoft Notepad text editor and emailed it home. When I tried to open it from the email using the default gedit I got an error message - Could not open the file /tmp/Feb.txt gedit has not been able to detect the character encoding. check that you are not trying to open a binary file. Select a character encoding from the menu and try again.The character encoding is set to 'automatically detected'.
How come it can't detect the encoding? I had to manually set the encoding to Western(ISO 8599-15) to load it. I can't remember this happening in the past, and it was OK loading one I sent earlier (Jan.txt) which presumably had the same encoding, as it was written in the same way.
I've noticed that for files longer than about 8000 lines that gedit has problems opening the file. Was gedit not designed for long files or is there another problem? The same thing also happens on complicated html files. So I hope there is a way to fix this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI mounted a remote directory using sshfs and I can't save files using gedit, while saving same file using vi works. Changin permission to o-r (640) allows gedit to save files OK. Is there a way to change sshfs connection to make gedit work without chmodding every file? (I use -o uid=`id -u` -o gid=`id -g`, so that remote files seem to be owned by me)

I like less and use it as my default pager in Linux. However, there are times that I am scrolling down through a large document quickly and less exits when I reach the end of the document before I have time to stop scrolling. I'd like less to exit only I type q, and not because I ask it to scroll beyond the end of the document. Is that possible?

View 2 Replies View Relatedjust installed debian squeeze KDE after years of ubuntu and suse.. For some reason, after I finally got both scrolling and tapping to work, I have a weird weird touchpad through my xorg.conf: - tapping on a tab in chrome closes the tab.
- tapping in a text field pastes txt that is in the clipboard, each successive click keeps pasting the same thing
- the left side of the touchpad is not enabled for vertical scrolling (?), and for some reason the directions are inverted (move finger up to scroll webpage down)
- when having multiple windows open, tapping that window will highlight it, but the previously selected window stays overtop of the now selected windows. Using the actual left click button the windows change normally.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI connect with ssh to an Ubuntu server to edit some files in /var/www witch I have set the setgid bit:
# sudo chgrp -R www-data /var/www
# sudo chmod -R 770 /var/www
# sudo chmod -R g+s /var/www
I have added the user "user" to www-data group. Now I connect using ssh as user "user" to my server with nautilus. When I copy files using nautilus file get the group permission 'www-data' as they should. But if I edit a file using Gedit and save it, the file's group get changed to "user" group ?
Using the latest version of Ubuntu desktop on an emachine t5062 if it matters. I have a text file of keywords that is one-three words line after line for like 5000 lines. How would I go about adding a word to each line.Aside from typing it in or copying and pasting.If it can`t be done with Gedit I am all for using another program.

Nowadays bluetooth more less works fine, I can send and receive single file to/from my phone (nokia n70)
The hell begin when I try to browse my phone files from konqueror...with bluetooth:/ I can see the list of all the device near me with sdp://[address]/ i can see two icons (obex file transfer & obex object push)
but I cant see or access to any file or folder into the phone.
I also try to update my bluez-utils to 4.60-1~bpo50+1 but in this case kbluetooth totally fail and a see the contextual menu of the system tray icon all disaled.
I am using GEDIT and I would like to have a shortcut key that allows me to tell GEDIT (on Ubuntu) to force reloading from file system the currently opened file.
How can I do that?
