upgraded to 10.4 on many web pages, when I click on a button, nothing happens. If I hover over the button, the cursor turns to a pointing hand but that's it.
I've tried firefox, cromium, epiphany and arora, they're all the same. I think it's just on flash content, some things work, some don't and I cant tell the difference between them. Tried install flash again and tried gnash which I couldnt get to appear in the pluggins list.
I have tried the fix * Hit ALT+F2 and enter
* gksudo gedit /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer
* add the following line BEFORE the last line of text
* export GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1
But I DONT have that file. I have searched for hours and hours. I can rightclick on the player and get to its options, but left clicking doesnt work
As far back as I can remember, on any Linux system, not just Ubuntu, you could use the mouse to highlight a chunk of text, and then by clicking both mouse buttons at the same time, you could paste that high-lighted text wherever you want. I had used this all the time on my previous Ubuntu installations... until now. In Ubuntu 11.04 I don't have this luxury anymore.
View 2 Replies View Relatedso yeah i've seen threads on getting flash installed, and it appears to be installed. videos videos play and all that jazz. you got to adobe's webpage and it says i have the latest released version installed.
problem is i can't click on any of the buttons in the videos. like in ..... i can't click pause, change the video resolution, or move the bar to fast forward or rewind. i'm kind of at a loss cause it is installed, and reinstalling doesn't do anything in ff. i mean if i uninstall videos don't play, and if i reinstall they play. still can't click on anything though. edit:also it does work just in ..... if i get the new interface. it won't work in the old interface.

I work on a laptop and typically have a USB mouse plugged in. Each time I start an X session, I switch my mouse buttons with an: Quote:

If I decide to unplug the mouse and work with the touchpad, I must always reverse the options again to pointer = 1 2 3, or else, while the right and the left button still work as a left-handed mouse, tapping, instead of acting like a left-click, gives a right-click menu. My touchpad is listed as:
'ImPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad'
using the evdev driver.
I admit that I haven't played much with alternate xmodmap configurations, but I'd like to sort this out. It's even more confusing since I don't have a xorg.conf and, if I manually add one, despite having tried repeatedly, I can't make X-server to read it.

When i got to a site such as You Tube of South Park Studios the vidio playes fine but the pause, play , fullscreen ect... Buttons dont work unless it click on them multiple times!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm newish to the forum, but have been using ubuntu for the past few months.I recently upgraded from eeebuntu (a 9.04 derivative) to 10.04, and found that two finger tapping my touchpad has gone from middle click to right click, (and 3 fingers is now middle instead of right).
From what I've seen, this has been changed since 9.10, but I haven't been able to find a permanent solution yet. Most fixes have been from before and use hal, or other things that don't exist anymore. The one thing I've found does work is using xinput and the command

But that has to be run every time I start up, and it occasionally reverts while I'm using the computer. I've tried making a script that runs at startup, but neither adding it to the list of startup programs, or autostart folder has worked, but running the script file manually does work. I'm a bit at wits end with this, it's the only issue I've had with 10.04, and I've spent many many hours trying to get it to work (I've also tried gsynaptics and the newer version whose name escapes me right now). Hopefully there's a permanent fix out there.
About a week ago I installed some updates. What they were I don't remember. After I did that my mouse started acting up. Now about half the time when I single click it registers as a double click. Also when I click and drag to select text anywhere it'll randomly do another click screwing up that process.
So far I think the problem is when I press the left mouse button it registers the left click and then when I release, it randomly registers another left click.
The mouse itself works fine if I take it to another PC that's using windows.
OS: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit
Mouse: Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0
mouse menu different in 10.10, is there a way to make the mouse single click instead of double click?

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen i click my mouse on something, it sometimes registers as two clicks. it doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be annoying. for example, when i click a videos video to pause it, it often opens into fullscreen (which you normally click twice to do). also, in the url bar of chromium, i can't select the entire url by clicking. i now need to use ctrl+a. that's also because when i try to select the url, the highlight randomly disappears.
if i have multiple windows open, my click on the first "x" of the top-most window also closes the next window. i'm on linux mint 10. it's not really important, but it drives me crazy sometimes when my mouse doesn't work the way i want it to.

If I normally click the Trash icon either in Kmail or in Evolution more than one mail gets deleted in a sequential order! I have to press the click button extremely light to avoid this problem. I have confirmed this problem is not only with the Email clients but even with most other normal applications too. I have changed my mouse twice but the problem persists. Both were USB mice. After I adjust my slackware and rebooted I saw a strange "rectangle" on my desktop. Please, look at the screenshots below and tell me how I should solve this problem.
I can't move it. Right-click menu on a rectangle coincides with a right-click on desktop. It does not prevent, but very annoying.
In my top right corner I got all my Ubuntu appindicators that come with Ubuntu 11.04. I also have Dropbox, caffeine and screenlets. Problem is that I cant click on dropbox, caffeine, battery indicator, wlan or sound indicator until I first click on messages menu and slide over to appindicator that I need. When screenlets appindicator is not present there is no problem. Its the same when I had Jupiter installed.

After I start ANY web browser (firefox,chrome,opera,midori,galeon) CPU is used above 90%. It's the same on any web site,without flash player. Browsers are using at least 60% CPU. Everything else is ok. It was the same case with 9.04 installed in past.

Everything looked great until I installed and then uninstalled Kubuntu desktop. Now the fonts in Chrome and Firefox look, imho, "bad". I installed the msttcorefonts but there is no difference. I've attached a screenshot, which illustrates the problem. It looks to me like the bold is too bold and the normal type is too thin and not spaced correctly.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi've got an annoying problem. on a regular basis my browsers keep crashing out on various websites. videos, newgrounds, etc. one moment i'm doing something, the next thing, it just froze. firefox 4, opera 11.10 and chrome 11. each crash is different, but they crash never the less. firefox freezes and when i try to close it, the whole screen turns to a blank light blue. after a moment a message pops up to allow it to be forcefully terminated. opera is similar. chrome is different. you just cannot shut it down for quite some time. i'm guessing it has something to do with flash, but i'm already running the latest version with the help of flash-aid.

This is basically rather current and standard intel based notebook with M520/2.4ghz and intel HD graphic i5. 11.04 runs on it either with unity or classic, but regardless of which gui I use, browsers do crash all the time. Tried firefox with default extensions, then seamonkey and then chromium. Nothing works really. I am not able to run any search in this forum for example, this will make any of the browsers crash. The kernels I tried are standard 32bit as well as -pae variety. Everything seemed to be more stable on real 64bit ubuntu, but number of software does not work here, so not real alternative. So I have no sound in my browsers. Firefox 5.0, Chromium 12 and Chrome 12.
Originally I was thinking it was just in Flash player. So I found lots of articles, and tried their suggestions and none of them did anything (things like linking (ln) plugins from one to another, reconfiguring flash, running browsers in sudo, etc).
Then I thought I'd check if html5 sites gave me sound. And they don't. I can't get sound in any way in my browsers.
I have perfect sound in other programs though, notifications, music, etc all work fine.
I have no idea how to diagnose this any further. I've already tried half a dozen "fixes" others have put up out there, and nothing is working.
I am using Ubuntu 8.10. All the java programs run perfectly fine in Geany. But when I try to run java applets in web browsers it did not run. I have tried running it in Opera and FireFox. I have written a simple program which display "hello world" in browsers. When I refresh the page it displays the text for about 2 or 3 seconds and after that it disappears.
Are there any other ways to run java applets?
After Installing 10.04, I've noticed that web browsers seem to be ignoring the font rendering settings set for the ui (System>Preferences>Appearance>Fonts).So far I've tried Firefox, Chromium and Opera, and text renders equally blurry in all of them. Changing from one rendering method to another has an effect on menu bars etc, but doesn't change how text appears inside of a browser, for better or worse.

1. Error: The stylesheet was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html", is not "text/css".
2. Bootloader is not defined
3. BigPipe is not defined.
Any browser I use has the same sort of results. If I use WindowsXP, however, everything seems to work fine.
I've been using ubuntu on my PC for a few months now. Really love it, so decided to install it on my wife's PC too (she, also, loves it!). Only problem is that (and I've tried reinstalling it twice now) the browsers on her PC keep going "back a page" after a few seconds of bringing up any web page. We used the WUBI installer to install the OS. Weird thing is that this happens in both firefox and chromium (I thought it was a firefox bug at first but as it's happening in both browsers I'm thinking it's something else). I am a total Ubuntu newbie myself too, but I love the OS and really want to find a way to work on this other PC.

I *do* have sound with Rhythmbox or when playing games, eg bzflag.
I have tried removing firefox and downloading the tarball version from Mozilla. I have tried running firefox as root. I have upgraded to the latest firefox and latest flash.
Firefox and Epiphany use two different fonts for displaying Chinese characters, one kind of grainy, and the other more smooth, respectively.(I attached a screenshot) Is it possible to make Firefox use the Epiphany font?
