i want a program that will show a prompt o the screen for to remind me of something that i have set it to do (i want the reminder window to either look like the pidgin prompt whenever someone comes online or just a typical prompt window)
I want some sort of pop-up or message display for things like appointments, due dates, etc. Maybe send a notice to email. Preferably something that will go out about two weeks or more.
I am using thunderbird in ubuntu 10.04, and i am looking for a feature which i can drag an email to some sort of reminder, say: after 5 days, it pops up and asks me to follow up on that email.
any way to set up an at or cronjob that will give some sort of notification that's readily apparent while using GNOME? I've tried a number of things including setting up a job that would run "gksu gedit" just to lock up the screen and remind me.
I'm using Firefox (v 3.0.9) under Kubuntu (just update to v9.04) and activated the password reminder (via Preferences -> Security -> Remember passwords for sites)but no password are rembered. This functionality was working previously (unfortunately I cannot state when it start to stop). It was already not working before my upgrade to v9.04.
I also posted this in: KDE-Forum.org -> KDE ->(K)Office & PIM.I wasn't sure whether to post it here under Software or Programming.I tend to need early reminders for important events so I often set up events with reminders the morning of the event and one and two days in advance. When korganizer displays a reminder for an event, i find it hard to read. I want to see the day name of the event (like "Today", "Tomorrow", or "Next Wednesday") and the name of the event (or be able to specify a custom image - that would be great). Instead, it tells me when the original event was scheduled (many of my events are recurring events and I have no interest in when I set them up a year ago) and the new date/time. I then have to look at a calendar to figure out what day it will be - kind of silly when I'm in a calendar application to start with.
I need an alarm / reminder system for all the crap I have going on. I want one that will pop up and remind me of a given task. Sounds, bleeps, rings, bells, etc., would also be great. Doesn't evolution have such a thing? IF not, what about online options. But I really prefer sg on this computers so I can still get the reminders when I am offline.
anyone knows how to setting email reminder and privacy when sent email.

I have sometimes wished to place a reminder, to be displayed after I login. And what I did was to write it in /etc/motd or in /etc/issue. But something in the system erases or writes a new motd/issue.What would be the easiest way to have a reminder printed on the console just after login?
Would it be possible/advisable to add a note to the security emails if an updated package is also part of the multilib install? I know with this last round of updates, seamonkey-solibs and cups are a part of multilib. I snagged the 32bit versions, converted them, and upgraded. It's kind of hard to keep track of which packages are a part of multilib.
I have my task list in evolution (mainly so it can sync with my phone and online task list) but I always forget to look at the task list. Is there an application or plugin which periodically displays the contents of the tasklist or even better, it briefly displays the most urgent/important tasks when I login? Or anything else which automatically displays the most important tasks. Currently I have to open the task list and look at them (which I usually forget). I do not mean some kind of alarm when the task is due but more a daily reminder of what to do.
I will have to code this. However I am lacking of time since I have too much to do. make a short code bash/dash to prompt the country with Zenity, then, get the PLS or m3u url and prompt with another zenity which radio to play. http://www.listenlive.eu/index.html

Do you know of any dvd copying program? like without making the image and then burning with just one process just copy the disc sorta program like roxio dvd copier? I wanted to make copies of movies I made a dvd of but aside from image burn which is a hassle to make the image first. is there something for burning on the fly or dvd/cd copying? infrarecorder and cdburnerxp do not work for me at all.

I am looking for a very particular sound wave simulation program. To get an understanding of what i want let me describe it to you in a different way.
Imagine your look at a bowl of water from above and you poke the water at a specific frequency you will see wave patterns showing. Well im after a program that can generate that pattern with any particular frequency that i set, and to allow me to place different shapes and objects around the sound source or sources (i may want to use more than one sound source that may or may not be at the same frequency as first.) and see what kind of reflections i get.
I was also wondering if instead of a point sound source you could have an entire shape giving off a specific vibration. This will give very interesting results that i am also after.
There are some programs that show sound simulations that i have described but nothing that can do the requirements that i desire. Do any of you guys know of any programs that can do this? if not how much would it cost to build such a program?
i want to integrate audio library with android driver by using ALSA plug-in And now, i try to compile ".so" code from library that I'd downloaded from web-site. what program can i use to compile .so file
I asked in Absolute Beginners forum, and so far it seems, there actually is no easy way to run a .bin program in the gui without using the terminal and typing.

This seems like a major design flaw if true. What gives?
I have no clue what forum section this would go under. I'm looking for a renderer that will allow me to create a 3D room. I don't want a CAD program. I want a program that will allow me at some point to render the project, then using my mouse or arrow keys, "walk" through the room seeing such details as patterned walls, carpeting and any ambient sounds that it will allow me to put in.
One of the things that I did along the way was uninstall one program (wicd) and reinstall another (network manager). Afterwards, things worked ok. Yesterday for some reason I don't understand, the error message I originally got with Wicd installed is back. I looked in the software center and it says it's not installed. I looked in synaptic package manager and It doesn't seem to be there. I tried the command (I learned it the other day- I really know VERY little commands) sudo apt-get --purge remove wicd. It says it's not installed. But it still comes up on every boot saying that it's looking for my wireless card and then complains about a d-bus error. I don't seem to have this program anywhere that I can remove it!
I developed a small C++ application with Qt for GUI.It is in /Pjt and I can run from command line using ./Pjt.But whenever I go to Ctrl+Alt+F1, it fails to execute saying that"Could not execute ./Pjt from tty's.(err:CANNOT CONNECT TO X SERVER)"
