Ubuntu :: Gettext Not Working ?

Jul 28, 2010

I'm trying to learn about internationalization for software I hope to develop.

Thus I follow tutorial [url] about using GNU gettext.

I make the traditional "hello world" program as per instructions, but when I get to the bit where it says " ./hello should now give you output in Oriya"... well mine still just says "Hello, world!" instead of "ନମସ୍କାର"

Debian :: Install Gettext On Lenny?

Feb 14, 2010

I need to install gettext on my machine, so I use synaptic to install but it give the following error

gettext:
Depends: libc6 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgomp1 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gettext-base but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: curl but it is not going to be installed or
wget but it is not going to be installed or
lynx but it is not installable

So I check libc6 which is install as libc6-dev other libc6 files such as xen, are high highlighted in red.

libgomp1 is installed.

gettext-base is installed.

curl will not allow itself to install as it says it needs libc6 (which is installed see above) lots of other curl files are highlighted red, with x's next to them, to remove. However the apply button is not highlighted?

Software :: Can't Install XBMC Missing Gettext-lib

Apr 5, 2011

Let me sketch the problem here, I'm using the CentOS 5.5 distribution to setup ah linux media server with XMBC. To do this I followed the steps on this blog

when I want to execute the bootstrap script i receive following error:

[root@SRV XBMC]# ./bootstrap
autoreconf: Entering directory `.'
autoreconf: configure.in: not using Gettext
autoreconf: running: aclocal --force
autoreconf: configure.in: tracing

[Code].....

If you look closely, you'll see that the third sentence say's that autoreconf is not using gettext. After a long search, I suspect it throws the error because of the fact that my system doesn't contain the gettext-lib package. The problem is I can't find the package anywere... I can't yum it and on the internet I only find the gettext and gettext-devel packages...

Slackware :: Frozen Bubble, Gettext In Current / Getting Error?

Code:

I have updated to current as of Jan 2 but I'm not really sure when the problem started since I only play with frozen-bubble sometimes.

Will rebuilding fronzen-bubble solve it? Haven't tried it yet as of now.

Ubuntu :: Adjust Date And Time In 10.10?

Dec 5, 2010

If one right-clicks on the date and time tab in Ubuntu 10.10 desktop, then there is no obvious way to change the time. If one right-clicks and goes to help, then the explanation for changing time is as follows under the category 'usage':

2.3. To Adjust the System Date or Time.

To adjust the system date or time that the Clock applet displays, perform the following steps:

1. Right-click on the applet, then choose Adjust Date & Time.

2. Type the root password, then click OK.

3. The Clock applet starts the system tool that sets the system date and time. Use the tool to adjust the date and time.

The actual way to do this is as follows:

Right-click on the date and time applet. select preferences, and down at the bottom of the window that opens push the 'time settings' button.

Then you will be able to adjust that date and time.

May 28, 2010

Ubuntu 10.04 lucid with gnome-power-manager installed on a HP elitebook 8530p. FN keys and desktop display applet will not adjust the display. when I first boot my display is pretty bright with either it plugged into ac or not until i either plug or unplug for the first time then the display dims some, but will not get bright again plugged or unplugged, also /proc/acpi/video/DGFX/LCD/brightness shows it set to 100% at all times it never changes. I'm using the ati driver tried running aticonfig --acpi-services off, but it made no difference. It worked fine in karmic and ibex. I'm out of ideas on how to fix this one. Ubuntu Multimedia :: How To Adjust Webcam Settings

Apr 1, 2011

I am using 10.10 and am searching for a program to adjust the settings on my webcam. I am using webcamd to upload pictures to a weathercam. I can use Cheese for viewing the output but the adjustments made there don't stick when I close Cheese.

It appears there used to be a package called gqcam which may have done the trick, but I can't find it in the repositories anymore. There is a current tar.gz package available but I'm hesitant to use it since I don't know why it was removed from the repositories. Does it conflict with the recent video changes in Ubuntu and what conflicts could it cause now or when I attempt to upgrade?

Heres my question: Is there a program available for Ubuntu which will allow me to adjust the settings of my webcam or is gqcam still compatible with Ubuntu? Bonus points for a .deb package.

Ubuntu :: Partitioning - Adjust Swap Space?

Mar 11, 2010

I'm a first time installer of Ubuntu. I've run it directly from CD a few times earlier, but I'm installing it from the CD for the first time. I've read some stuff about this from other sites, and have some doubts I hope you geniuses would be able to clarify. Situation : My 80GB Primary HDD is partitioned into what I think is 1 Primary partition [10GB] and 1 extended partition [70GB] which is further divided into three logical partitions.

I don't have to worry about other data, since I've got a 320GB External HDD for that. Now, Ubuntu says that it can squeeze the free space out of the Windows Partition. But my Windows partition is pretty full, and I don't want to re-install it on a larger partition. I've got one logical drive [20GB] free on my Primary HDD. Can it be converted into a primary partition without affecting anything else i.e. my Windows partition and the other two logical partitions remain intact ? Or do I have to format my extended partition and subdivide into a primary and extended partition ?

Q2 - How do I adjust swap space ? Does it have to be a primary partition ? Or can it be a logical partition ? To make a logical partition swap space, do I have to reformat my entire extended partition to squeeze out free space, or can it be kept intact? I'm using Ubuntu Hardy Heron. I know it's a lot to read, but I'm pretty confused right now.

General :: Can't Adjust Touchpad After Upgrading From Ubuntu 8.1 To 9.1

Dec 1, 2010

I just upgraded from Ubuntu 8.1 to 9.1. Selecting (tapping) with the touchpad is a problem. I can not adjust it with the System > Preferences > Touchpad GUI. I have to tap and tap and tap, harder and harder. The sensitivity is way off. Can't adjust it with the GUI.

Anyone else have this issue. I'm using a Dell Inspiron.

More info: sometimes I tap and it works. Other times I have to tap tap tap tap, harder and harder. I believe it's a matter of adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad, but do not know how to do this after upgrading to 9.1.

Can't do it with the GUI.
