I have used my webcam with skype before in several ocations, but now im not able to do so.The wencam works with cheese, so i dont now where to got form here.On skype video options, it shows only one video/webcam device (CNF7017 (/dev/video0). when i with test on the options shows a gray screen, which is the same that im sending to my contacts when we video chat.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy webcam works at my end but two people have said they can't see me their end using skype. They webcam with other people so i know it is not their settings or anything. One has a mac and the other a windows machine. I really don't have anyone else to test this with as most people i know don't have webcams.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was impressed with the hardware detection in Fedora -- it picked up my wireless & webcam right out of the box. The odd thing is, that Fedora picked up the webcam right away, and it worked perfectly in Cheese (I was able to take both photos & video), but when I try to use it in Skype all I get is green "snow". The webcam is a Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using a basically vanilla Lubuntu 11.04 My Logitech E 3500 webcam works fine with Cheese. I have just installed Skype, but my voice isn't picked up on the test call, and no video either (the webcam light remains off). I've tried logging off and into Skype.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a web cam that I can move its base and zoom it's picture remotely via command line for linux does any body know any suggestion.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a Linux-controllable camera or Linux-compatible webcam that can produce native resolution photos in the 8MP+ range.
The computer needs to be able to trigger the capture and download the resulting image.
I'm shopping for a Bluetooth dongle and I'd like to find one that "just plain works" with Lucid. I've searched and found a few posts about bluetooth, but nothing encouraging so far. Hopefully someone is using one and can vouch for its compatibility with Lucid.
View 6 Replies View RelatedBasically the webcam shows up in the list but clicking test does nothing, it just sits there. The webcam works perfectly in cheese.
I used too solve this problem by doing the following
type
Code:
Quote:
sudo gedit /usr/local/bin/skype
and paste the following 2 line
[Code].....
But this doesn't seem too work now, not since I reinstalled ubuntu.
NOTE: I am using the 64bit release.
I installed the 64 bit version of 10.04. I downloaded Skype and it works fine, but it doesn't see my built in webcam under 'options'. The monitor is a ThinkVision 2251x.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having this problem since the day I upgraded ubuntu from 10.04 to 10.10. Couldn't solve it then and now I would like to try again.
>> Webcam is working fine in Cheese Webcam Booth.
But it's not detected in skype. I tried this command
Code:
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype
>> I didn't work as last time. Error Messages of it on terminal is as under:

how to get a webcam to work with Skype when running LinuxMint 9? The settings in Skype don't even list the webcam as being there
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running Ubuntu 9.10. I can't seem to get skype to work. See, the person I'm chatting with can receive video and audio, I can receive audio, but I cannot see them, even when they engage their webcam.
My cheese can take pictures from my webcam, but I can't see the screen of the webcam before I take the picture, it's only black, and when I click on the take the picture, it'll take it, and display it correctly, but the screen is black. Now, I just dled camorama, but it's saying "Could not connect to video device C/dev/video0). please check connection." I don't know what this means.
My lsusb says:
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub[code]....
The Ricoh Webcam is a built in cam, but it doesn't work either. I have an external cam that used to work, but the cam works, it's just the display that seems effed up.
I have Ubuntu 9.10 installed on my dv2000 hp latpop. I also installed the Beta version of Skype. But when I test webcam in skype the light of the webcam glows but I do not see image on the test screen. the test screen remains back. Could someone suggest what could be the problem and a possible solution?PS: The webcam works fine with "Cheese"
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have difficulty with my webcam and Skype. I can see the other person but she can't see me. From a previous thread: Are you sure your camera isnt working? Supported hardware drivers are in the kernel usually. Test: press alt+f2, type gstreamer-properties go to the video tab and see if your camera is listed as a device. If yes, press the test button. This test was OK. I could see my face on the screen.
Quote: Ah, the Skype camera thing. Launch it this way: LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype
I tried this. It launches Skype OK, but the little window that should show what my webcam sees, appears full of black and white static.
It recognized the webcam alright. But after an update perhaps a couple of months ago, it no longer does. Skype is Beta version 2.1.0.81. If I go to Options, Video devices, it shows me only one option for webcam, namely Quote:USB Camera (05a9:a511) (/dev/video0)I click on test but nothing happens. I can communicate and see the other person, but she doesn't see me

I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 on a desktop computer. In general things work pretty well but I cannot get the webcam to work in Skype. It's a Zebronics webcam, not sure of the model number. I installed Cheese to see if it shows videos from the webcam connected to the computer and it does. In Skype preference I can see that Skype looks for the webcam in /dev/video0 but apparently it can't find anything there.
I wish there was some client program in Ubuntu/Linux which supported both audio call and video chat on the yahoo network. Kopete supports only video and Gyache is not compatible with the new Yahoo 10 protocol or whatever it is. Extremely frustrating for someone who is trying to get others to use Ubuntu instead of Windows.
I have a Dell E6520 with Ubuntu 11.04 installed. The webcam and everything else has worked like a charm, including webcam in Skype and other applications. Today Skype webcam got VERY dark. I installed cheese and started it up. The screen was dark initially, but auto adjusted to be good again.
However in Skype same problems. So I followed this: [URL] and installed guvcview and tried to set some values. Suddenly I got some exceptions, and now nothing is working. Cheese will not even show anything else then a hint of a lamp that is in the background. I have tried to install many different software to be able to set the webcam, but no success. In some I get an decent image to start with, but then after one second it will go dark again.
I have found a few threads regarding this issue but none seem to be exactly what I've got or were too old to re-open the thread.
Ubuntu 11.04
Skype 2.2.0.35-1
Logitech Quickcam
Logitech C310 720HD webcam
Basic: Video call in Skype using the C310 causes the PC to crash at random times during the session. The quickcam seems to be ok, just an awful experience. Thought it might be a pulseaudio problem so did the following:
added autospawn = no to .pulse/client.conf
killall pulseaudio
Restarted Skype
Changed audio settings in Skype to use MB chip ICH5
Restarted pulseaudio -D
No difference (if anything crashes quicker) except the CPU load is halved.
The pc freezes and is unresponsive. lights on keyboard flash.
I have no idea if this is sound or video card related.
Below is a link to a screen shot.

When i run skype, it detects my camera , but it work show any picture when i test. In gstreamer-properties testing, it works fine using v4l2. When i use Cheese, it comes up with no problem. Below is the terminal output from my testing. How can i get this to work?

The web cam is built-in.

I'm not having any luck finding an up-to-date tutorial on how to install Xv on Hardy Heron.
