I downloaded mupen64plus from the software center the other day but I can't find it anywhere! Every other program shows up fine. I tried making a manual launcher and that failed too.... Software center says it is installed, but it simply doesn't show up!

I have a recent install of squeeze. Beside applications from the squeeze repos, I have installed a few applications from their own deb files / repositories, such as Skype, Google-Chrome (not the chromium in the squeeze repos), Opera and Teamviewer.
All those placed their menu entries in the gnome menu, however periodically, at a new login, the Google-Chrome and Teamviewer menu items are missing. The applications are still there, but they dont show anymore in the menus. Only way to get them back I found so far is to reinstall the application.

F13 just installed for me on a server back in the states for me. I VNC into it to setup my personal website. The GNOME menu listings do not have the tool I am familiar with that tells me which process are running, allows me to stop and start them, and to install them I believe if they are on the machine. I can see that MYSQL are on the machine with the Add/Remove tool. I also see myphpAdmin. I need to get both of these up and running. I should be able to do this with out going back to 1980's terminal commands right?

I switched from 11.2 to 11.4 yesterday. I noticed that the Appearance dialog has only three tabs instead of four tabs. The last tab "Interfaces" does not exist, in where I can select "Show Icon in Context Menu". But I do not know, how to show icons in context menu.

I'm looking for a way to hide the icons in the Gnome menu bar.
The only thing i've found is the gconf-editor and unchecking /desktop/gnome/interface/menus_have_icons, but that only affects the System menu and not Applications and Places...
Example:
Must be like:
How to disable them ?
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04LTS with Gnome 2.30

I want to install slackware (i.e. dual boot) along with ubuntu 10.04. I've read some threads as to how to do this and came to know that we need to skip installation of LILO in slackware installation and an entry for slackware in the menu.lst file of grub. I thought I'll take a look at the file before I actually start the installation however I didn't find this file at all in the grub directory. Can someone please tell me if it is normal for this file to be missing or is something wrong here? if there is something wrong then what do I do

Good day, having a spot of bother with Openoffice, for some unknown reason im finding majority of the menu & button names have been replaced with "O" characters instead. Its doesn't effect all, but for example in the Writer, the only drop down menu at the top being render correctly is "Table". code...
All the buttons/sub buttons still work if you can guess where their pointing!
The only way I can seem to solve it is to remove "openoffice.org-gnome" & "openoffice.org-gtk" package.
Ive tried a complete reinstall already. Its usable without the above gnome and gtk extras but obviously not as nice to look at.
Im sure it was working fine the last time I used it?

I installed Ubuntu 10.04 in a partition alongside two other partitions that contain windows. One is a windows xp recovery partition (about 8 GB) and the other is windows xp media center (about 37 GB).The Ubuntu partition is about 180 GB. Anyway, after I installed it, I was only able to boot to Windows XP. I can't boot to Ubuntu.Using supergrub, however, I am able to get Ubuntu to boot up. In supergrub, I got to Gnu/Linux, select the option to "Boot Gnu/Linux directly", and it works. However, if I try the "Fix grub" option, I get "error 15: file not found". Also, if I try to the option of "Boot to Partiion" and I select the Ubuntu partition, I get "error 13: invalid or unsupported exectuable format".When in Ubuntu, I opened the terminal and tried the following:gksudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
The menu.lst file is empty. There is nothing in it.What is going on? How can I fix it so when I boot the computer I'm given the option of booting to Windows XP media center or to Ubuntu? For additional info, I ran the bootinfoscript and the results.txt file is pasted below.
Code:
Boot Info Script 0.55 dated February 15th, 2010

I'm currently using Ubuntu 10.10 and the version of Wine in the standard repository. In the past, when I've installed wine, it automatically gave me a Programs menu from which I could launch all the Windows programs I installed. That menu is now missing.I tried uninstalling Wine, removing the ~/.wine folder, and removing all references to wine and wine programs in ~/.local/share... with no effect.can't get the Programs menu to come back.

I installed Xubuntu Maverick Meerkat recently, and I have a minor issue, Skype is missing its menu icons. It looks like this:
I have checked 'show menu icons' option in Xubuntu settings, and all gtk apps have their icons. Skype is a Qt app however. VLC is also a Qt app, and it's missing its icons, too.

I had Windows XP installed, then installed Ubuntu 9.10 in a different partition. I was able to choose which OS to boot. Then I did a distro update to 10.04. Now Windows is missing from the GRUB boot menu.
sudo update-grub doesn't change anything so I think sudo os-prober isn't finding Windows.
I've edited grub.cfg and can get an entry added for Windows, but it doesn't actually load Windows. It just reboots the machine. If I run sudo update-grub after adding a menuentry for Windows to grub.cfg, the menuentry I added disappears.
I've run testdisk, but BackupBS isn't an option. It says the original and backup boot sector are identical.
cfdisk says sda1 is the only partition that is NTFS and it is set to Boot.
I've already installed all available updates from lucid-security and lucid-updates.
I've run bootinfoscript and here are the results:
Code:
Boot Info Script 0.55 dated February 15th, 2010
============================= Boot Info Summary: ==============================
=> Grub 2 is installed in the MBR of /dev/sda and looks on the same drive in
partition #5 for /boot/grub.
=> Windows is installed in the MBR of /dev/sdb

My application bars are all missing their menu bars. They were showing up (along with the application title) on the top panel but I ran 'nohup gnome-panel' to at least make my system partially usable (i.e. this restores the top panel and the bottom 'bar' that has the running application icons and it also restored my close/minimize/maximize buttons to my windows).

I just upgraded to Natty and I cannot access any of my menu bars. My mouse does not move any higher than the screen boundaries and I'm sure they're not set to auto hide. After doing some searching I found the following commands which I ran in a terminal on my Mac, controlling my Ubuntu machine through SSH.Window manager error: Unable to open X display.

I am using firefox 5.0 under ubuntu 11.04. I have attached the screenshot of my firefox window. There is no menubar, no title bar, no close, minimize, maximize buttons. I am sure I am not in fullscreen mode.Moving the mouse to the top left corner does not bring out the launcher. Pressing Alt+Tab does not bring out window selection dialog (to switch to another application). I killed firefox from tty1 and restarted firefox. The problem persists.
