I have a mp4 file. I opened it with mplayer. It works but when I rewind the movie the picture goes wrong. When scene changes all gets cleared. Unless I rewind, it works ok.
I think the file is wrong - compression is to great or sth similar. How can I improve it? Can I alter the file somehow to dispose the problem?
PS. if the problem has already occured somewhere, redirect me. I didn't know how to call this problem so I ask here.
I have a computer playing movie automatically in loop, and I want to know which movie is now playing in this computer and report it to a server. I use bash script to do this. If I use "pe -ef|grep mplayer ........" ,it seems to complex. Is there any easier way to get the name and store it in a parameter like $movie_name ? And also, I want to know if I can know whether the mplayer is running well. For example, if I use "mplayer wrong.txt". You can still get "ps -ef|grep mplayer....",but you just know that mplayer will get error to play .txt file.

I had good working installation of Fedora 12 x86_64 on my desktop, but few days ago, during watch movie in mplayer, sound disappeared. Till today i can't figure out, what happened - no errors displayed, no changes in configuration and no sound (both KDE and Gnome).
I checked soundcard in ubuntu live cd and it works fine. Also on login screen in my current Fedora 12 "beep" plays when i choose user, but after this i have no sounds.
I have up to date system, pulseaudio installed (i tried to remove it, but with no effect - without it also no sound).
Strange thing is, that sound disappeared during normal work, not after update or install anything.
I have seemed to work out all bugs in pulseaudio except 1. When pulseaudio wakes up it stutters for a few seconds and then plays fine. I ran pulseaudio -vvv in the terminal and found that it was an underrun and got this message.
Code:
protocol-native.c: Requesting rewind due to end of underrun.
when i try to watch a movie on movie player from the internet i get the requires a Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) demuxer plugin which is not installed. how do i install it?
Every time I use Movie Pllayer to play DVD movie, it just hang on there and not responding,so I must click the 'Force Quit' button to close it.What should I do to overcome this problem? Is there any other software which can play DVD movie?
Anyone know a working movie player? I can't use Movie Player to play my movie because it's talking about plugin BS. Now I try loading the disc with VLC media Player and the crap just closes out.
This should be a very elementary question. I have a URL like http://SERVERNAME/file.wmv. When I enter it in "Open Location" in gnome-mpLayer it connects to the server and plays the stream. But when I run
mplayer "URL"
in the terminal I get a crazy endless loop of
Playing URL. Resolving SERVERNAME for AF_INET6... Couldn't resolve name for AF_INET6: SERVERNAME Resolving SERVERNAME for AF_INET... Connecting to server SERVERNAME[xxx.xx.xxx.xx]: 80... Cache size set to 320 KBytes
I think my usage of mplayer in the terminal is correct, since I can watch other URL's.It's only this specific one that doesn't work (I am not authorized to write the URL because they want it to be private. So my question is: Does anyone know why I get this loop? Or is it possible to see how mplayer is called by gnome-mplayer and what output messages it generates?I use gnome-mplayer 0.9.9.2 and mplayer 1.0rc4-4.4.5 on Ubuntu 10.10.
I want to share my DVD drive on my desktop with my Eee PC using NFS. I have set up NFS without any problems but I can't watch any DVD's.I have mounted /media/cdrom and I can see the files on the desktop DVD drive. When attempting to play the DVD over NFS using VLC I receive a loud screeching noise but it does play for different durations of time which I'm guessing are the DVD's chapters)
I want to create a movie using some pictures and a some mp3 files. Does anyone knows a movie editor with gui for linux because i never created a movie before?
I have a dvd movie that has been a little neglected, scratched, and otherwise foobared. In the dvd player, it freezes ... put's out ugly quality, etc.I would like to copy it to my computer, repair as needed, re-burn to a shiny-new-unscratched DVD.I would appreciate some recommendations as to what software package(s) are well suited for the task.
I have a movie split into 3 iso image files, say, movie-1.iso,movie-2.iso, and movie-3.iso I did the following:
[ewn]# cd /mnt [mnt]# mkdir disk1 disk2 disk3 [mnt]# mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop=/dev/loop0 /media/Hitachi_SATA_2TB/iso_files/Movies/movie-1.iso /mnt/disk1 [mnt]# mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop=/dev/loop1 /media/Hitachi_SATA_2TB/iso_files/Movies/movie-2.iso /mnt/disk2
[Code]....
the files for disk2, disk3 are exactly the same except disk2 has 2 .vob files instead of 3. Can I make this work by changing the names of some of these files before merging them into one directory and then running the mkisofs command to create a new single iso image? If so, what names do I give so that the movie plays correctly? If not, just how do you do this?
I'm trying to watch a DVD video using Movie Player, but nothing happens. It asked for a MPEG-2 decoder but then said Gstream already had the decoder. But to be sure I hunted down some rpm files with a free MPEG-2 decoder and installed them. Nothing happened. Before that, Movie Player asked for an Advanced Stream Format Demuxer. Then it told me it was already installed. I tried to uninstall Gstream. Maybe it was installed badly for reasons unknown, but the uninstaller warned that it would take 50 files with it.
I got the impression it was daring me to uninstall Gstream, so I chickened out. But I am upset now. This problem has wasted half of my Saturday day off and it is still not solved. I forgot to say I had also installed libdvdcss, in desperation. Nothing happened. This computer does display DVD videos with Movie Player using a different distro. I'm not surprised Fedora has problems. But you figure by 2011, watching a DVD video should be no problem by now in any distribution.
I have a large number of paper sheets to scan. Instead of an autofeed or flatbed scanner, I'd like to use my photo camera. After a while, it occurred to me that instead of making a photo for each page, I could install the camera on a tripod, set it to record video and then extract the images from the video.
That way, I'd just have to handle the papers: Pick one, place it in front of the camera, wait a moment, replace it. Is there a Linux software to get all images without motion out of a movie? Kind of a non-motion-detection.
When starting VLC I get the following message: VLC media player 1.0.2 Goldeneye [0xa18888] main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.
I seem unable to get a movie dvd to work in version 8.04 LTS (with all the latest updates). All I get is a message telling me that there is an error. I've installed the GStreamer plugin but still no go.
Anyone know what it's listed under?9.10 Karmic Koala..I'm customising all my preferred aps and use the amazing VLC for videos, I don't want 'Movie Player' there, but I can't find it in Synaptic to delete it and want it gone, not just the shortcut deleted.
Whilst discussing preferred aps, I can also highly recommend ditching Firefox and Evolution for Opera; more features, faster browsing, handles plugin videos better (no greying out), has a built in mail client so everything's in one place, etc. Tried just about every other browser, always go back to Opera.
I noticed after i fixed a problem with my skype microphone, that the speaker icon for the sound preferences has vanished. Also, there is no sound in my movie player and I cant turn the volume up or down. Its like the computer is set at one volume
Yesterday I fresh installed Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit LTS on my Toshiba Laptop. This is my second time with Ubuntu so bear with me. I got everything working even the webcam but it won't play dvd movies. When I go to the DVD player icon and try to open it...its won't because it doesn't recognize the dvd format.I have searched but only end up trying stuff that didn't work for it. I guess what it needs is Codec's.
