View 2 RepliesFor some reason, gnome-terminal, terminator, mrxvt, rxvt, tilda and a few other terminal applications I downloaded are unable to register the 'a' key on my keyboard. However, every other application is able to register my keypresses perfectly. Does anybody know what might be causing this, or what logs/diagnostic tools I could use to find out the reason for this odd behavior?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Linux and these forums, but programmed in C++ on other systems. I discovered several Linux terminal emulators don't render Right to Left languages properly and so as an exercise I writing my own. It based on GtkTextView widget. Basically is working, but the shell won't issue prompts because it doesn't think my terminal emulator is actually a terminal (isatty returns false)
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe problem I have is that I am not able to get ANY of my Emulators to work in Ubuntu.
I have been trying for months now, but there isn't a single reliable emulator that works on Ubuntu.
There always seems to be problems with lagging, and sound issues that never seem to get resolved.
This is beyond frustrating because Gaming is the one thing i need to have on my computer, yet it is the only thing I'm not able to get working.
Do any of you know of any alternative suggestions to fix this problem?
I have tried EVERY available emulator for both Windows (Used on Wine) and Ubuntu.
Is there some kind of general setting for Wine that I am overlooking?
Here are a list of Consoles I want to play:
- Super Nintendo
- Nintendo
- Sega Genesis
- Sega Master System
- Nintendo 64
- Playstation
- Gameboy Advanced and Original
when i try to download an emulator from the ubuntu software center i get this message
Requires installation of untrusted packages The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources.
but i downloaded the same programs on my other ubuntu computer
Looking at building a system that basically just runs emulators (nes, snes, etc). Haven't messed around with linux for a couple years so I thought this might be a great project to get back into it with. Maybe.
Questions I have-
- How easy is it to have a linux installation that just boots directly into the emulator? Since it will be hooked up to a tv, I just want it to be as easy as turning on the power button and then I'm off.
- Is there a stripped down linux distro that would be best suited for this type of setup? Really any recommendations for a distro would be great.
- Its running on old hardware- 900mhz athlon, 512mb ram, geforce2 video. Will this be a problem if I'm trying to run something like i've described?
i'm using ubuntu 8.4 when i want install file.tgz, i found an error like
"installpkg command not found"
even though i have typed the command like this
"#installpkg file.tgz"
so, what's the problem with this?
I removed all packages starting with x and now im reinstalling them with installpkg but when I try to do this I get the following errorr

I have used a couple of slackbuild binary packages (i.e. without doing the actually build) and have worked fine. Thanks to those who have spent the time and effort to create them.
When installing the package I wanted to know what binary files were being put on my machine and at which directory location. This was more out of curiosity.
However, now I plan to get the boost slackbuild package. It's more relevant to know where it's being installed. Is there a way to know that? Also, can I specify a different directory?
i have some package that are installed using ./configure then make & make install & make clean how can i remove those? i cant see them in the pkgtool.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed the Slack 13.1 x86_64 on my laptop. It works fine! But I have one trouble with it. I cannot run the installpkg and pkgtool with my normal user. It says to me that there is no command found. Is it a problem with the sudoers file or these commands are not really installed? Maybe my path is incomplete?

Not entirely sure if they will run well, but can't hurt to give it a try.

Just tried and failed miserably to get an Nvidia 6200 based graphics card to play nice with my machine. After putting my ATI Radeon 9200 back in the box, my emulators have gone all kinds of strange.
ZSNES will crash as soon as I attempt to load a game full screen and will leave the screen resolution at the resolution ZSNES was running in (800 x 600, for example.GENS again will alter the screen resolution to whatever it was running in when the emulator is minimised. I'm running 10.10 with 1gb Ram, 128mb ATI Radeon card, P4 3ghz. Was all fine until I tried the new card and I did a fresh install only last week .
First time I've done this in awhile Upgrading my Slackware64 -current VM, following the standard routine that has always worked in the past -
Code:
slackpkg clean-system
slackpkg install-new
The clean-system removed 2 packages -
util-linux-ng
eggdbus
Installpkg will no longer work, complaining that the rev command is not found. The problem hit with the removal of util-linux-ng. I cp'd util-linux to ~/. Extracted with tar and executed the doinstall. Fixed.
i am getting problem with terminal.when i am open the terminal getting error(There was a problem with the command for the terminal-text was empty or contain only white space)

alan@workstartion:~$ cd Downloads
alan@workstartion:~/Downloads$ ls -a

.. libflashplayer.so
AdobeAIRInstaller.bin mass-effect-normandy-sr1.jpg

I've deleted the .bin and re-downloaded it, I have renamed it, moved it and even tried executing it by removing the .bin and running it from its location. I am still getting the same errors.

after some time when i tried to login by using su and with password it says "incorrect password". So i logged out and entered root login for gui and it works well, but i'm not able to use the same password for su. can some one get around this issue?
I'm running a game called EV Nova (which runs perfectly well in WINE). I'm trying to set up a Menu item for it, but the Terminal command fails.
What works:
Right-clicking EV Nova.exe and selecting "Run with Wine Windows Program Loader"
What doesn't:
wine /home/user/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/nova/EV Nova.exe
wine "/home/user/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/nova/EV Nova.exe"
wine "C:\Program Files\nova\EV Nova.exe"
...or pretty much any other Terminal command.
i've recently installed Ubuntu 9.10, and i am trying to get java6 jre working. using "sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre" the package downloads and works fine until i run into this screen: Now this must look like everything is working fine....and i should just click the ' OK ' button...that is where the trouble begins...i can't....and i was hoping someone would know the problem...
