Mar 2, 2010i have some package that are installed using ./configure then make & make install & make clean how can i remove those? i cant see them in the pkgtool.

Feb 28, 2011First time I've done this in awhile Upgrading my Slackware64 -current VM, following the standard routine that has always worked in the past -

slackpkg clean-system
slackpkg install-new
The clean-system removed 2 packages -
util-linux-ng
eggdbus
Installpkg will no longer work, complaining that the rev command is not found. The problem hit with the removal of util-linux-ng. I cp'd util-linux to ~/. Extracted with tar and executed the doinstall. Fixed.

How can I get this package removed? I was able to get a different management tool installed to configure my RAID so I don't need this one. My system appears to be working, but everytime I use apt-get to install something else, it shows the hptraidconf package as failed.
Slackware :: Directory Location Of A Slackbuild Installpkg ?
Feb 3, 2010I have used a couple of slackbuild binary packages (i.e. without doing the actually build) and have worked fine. Thanks to those who have spent the time and effort to create them.
When installing the package I wanted to know what binary files were being put on my machine and at which directory location. This was more out of curiosity.
However, now I plan to get the boost slackbuild package. It's more relevant to know where it's being installed. Is there a way to know that? Also, can I specify a different directory?

Mar 24, 2011I have recently installed the Slack 13.1 x86_64 on my laptop. It works fine! But I have one trouble with it. I cannot run the installpkg and pkgtool with my normal user. It says to me that there is no command found. Is it a problem with the sudoers file or these commands are not really installed? Maybe my path is incomplete?

Aug 10, 2010I need to know if there is a way to command slackpkg to reinstall all installed packages...?I dont think there is but also wanted to know if I could somehow edit scripts, etc to enable this.I need this because as many know here I make variations of livecd's and I have injured one of my installs when I ran a script that I shouldn't have and it deleted several directories under /etc usr/lib and /usr/bin.I have no idea exactly what was deleted and thus I wish to reinstall all installed packages.There must be a way to do this without the borish method of manually reinstalling hundreds of pkgs.Is there a way to grep/ var /log/packages and say reinstall all?

Jan 29, 2010I've been reading up on ssh and I don't want anyone to connect to my computer. I am not interested in remote connectivity at all. Should I uninstall ssh? I ran Code: apt-get remove ssh and debian returned "package ssh is not installed. 0 packages removed."
I also looked online and found out about /etc/ssh/ssh_conf but all of the lines on my computer were #'d out. I also added "PermitRootLogin no" at the end. Am I safe from ssh attacks if I don't have ssh? Might be a stupid question but I don't want to fall victim. edit: it seems as though I -do- have openssh-client and openssh-server installed. Should I just leave my ssh config with PermitRootLogin no or apt-get remove openssh-client openssh-server.

Feb 13, 2011I am very happy to announce that today I succeeded to install full Slackware ARM on the pandaboard: URL...I did the following:
* sd with 2 partitions, one (vfat) for bootloaders (MLO, u-boot.bin) and uImage and the other one (ext2) for minirootfs
* copy xloader (MLO), uboot and uImage from Angstrom distro on the first partition
* copy Slackware ARM minirootfs on the second partition with Angstrom modules in the usual path (/lib/modules/...)
* boot in ARMedslack
* install all the others packages via NFS
I had to make some changes to configuration files as indicated here:URL...The next step is to build a kernel and modules for omap4 by myself and use them instead of the Angstrom ones.One question: is there any kind of package manager, such as slap-get, sbopkg, etc. for Slackware ARM? If not, can I use the SlackBuilds from slackbuilds.org? How to modify them?

May 15, 2010I've tried a few different ways to install the ATI graphics driver "fglrx" to get 3D acceleration.If I try to install using the standard file "ati-driver-installer-10-4-x86.x86_64.run" from the ATI web site it appears to work but then I discover it actually got an error.I saw a reference to ATI requiring 32-bit libraries to install their 64-bit driver. Is there a link or post that explains how to add the 32-bit libraries. Will that solve the problem, or will I just waste more time trying that?

Nov 3, 2010I was trying to plug projector on my laptop with slackware 13.1 installed. The problem is that the projector stops showing whenever I start X. I can see everything starting from LILO loader, but whenever I type "startx" - bam, no signal or just a black screen on the wall. I try to switch to console mode with ctrl+alt+f1 - the view appears, switching back to X with ctrl+alt+f7 - view disappears. I am using awesome WM. I tried XFCE, but the result was the same. After some googling I suspect that the problem is the installation of the hostap_utils-package that I performed the last time I could use it. I am on a Thinkpad X30 without CD-drive and don't have my docking station at hand, but fortunately I still have a working 8.04 installation on it and I from that I can mount the 10.04 partition.
So my question is: Is there a good way to remove a package from a 10.04 installation when you cannot boot it directly but have access to the filesystem? Alternatively could someone please post all the files that belong to the hostap_utils package so I can just delete them manually (even though that probably is not a clean way to remove a package..).

Apr 20, 2011I had installed some kde app a while ago which I didn't want anymore so I uninstalled it and noticed that I didn't need the million kde dependencies that program had required. So I uninstalled all those, and everything went fine except for kdm which gives me the following error:

I was able to autoremove it, just not purge it (removing the config files left over).
