What's a good program in Linux/Ubuntu to convert any video file to .mp4 for an iPod/iPhone?
I have Ubuntu 9.04 and just installed Sound Converter. I am trying to convert a bunch of .ogg files to mp3 to play on my iPod and it's not working so well. In the Sound Converter options I have is set to convert to high quality mp3. I choose the folder that the files are in and after a moment (slow laptop) Sound Converter populates, I hit 'convert' and it shows that the conversion completes in two seconds. All that it did was create the new folder structure of artist/album but there is nothing in there. Not sure what I am missing. I used Sound Converter before and it worked fine.

Having made a mount directory (/media/ipod) an error message tells me
... mount: special device /dev/sdc0 does not exist...
when I try to mount it.
I cannot see it in 'gparted' or 'disk utility' but I can see it on sys log and kern log when I plug it in and remove it.
I have visited several help forums and loaded several types of recommended software (ifuse-libs and mux's etc) but with no satisfactory result.
I have successfully 'Jail broken' the device using 'Blackra1n' on a windows machine.
It used to appear on the desktop but alas...no more. I've obviously broken something!

In Handbrake I need to confirm and add to queue all of the files. When there are over 200 files at a time it takes way too long. If there is a way to not confirm all of the files please let me know. What program can I use to just add a folder and have it automatically add all of the files to my queue?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running 10.10 64-bit and am trying to get an option in WinFF to convert an MPEG file to an iPod compatible video. All of the HOT_TO guides I could find involve installing the FFmpeg libraries, which I have done as well as I could have. The problem is that within WinFF, I don't see anything different in the "Convert To ..." drop-down. The Wiki I am reading tells me to select iPod, but this isn't available. What do I need to do to get this to be selectable?

I just came home from a long trip, with a lot of videos shot during the holiday. I wish to share them with the rest of the family and friends, but the files are huge (full HD). I intend to upload them to the family server, so ..... and the likes are not something I want.

Is there a simple way to determine which thumnail in ~/.thumnails is which?
I Updated from Fedora 9 to Fedora 13 several months ago and noticed that AAC audio encoder was no more available in Avidemux (I use version 2.5.3.3 for fedora 13 from rpmfusion repo)Unfortunately AAC is mandatory on the IPod (and probably other Apple devices) to have the sound working.I had faad2-libs (decoder) and faac (encoder) packages installed, but avidemux was not using them. After some search on the web, I found that faac support was removed because of legal issues. Some people recommend to rebuild Avidemux from source but this was a little bit complicated, and I found an easier solution.
In fact the only thing needed to add AAC support to Avidemux is to add the required libADM_ae_faac.so library in /usr/lib/ADM_plugins/audioEncoders, as it is no more supplied in the package avidemux-plugins. Searching for libADM_ae_faac.so on the Web, I found some packages containing this file, such as the ones from other distros, and the package for the same Avidemux version than the one I use but for Fedora 11 : avidemux-plugins-2.5.3-3.fc11.i586.rpm.
I've been working on a small program to perform a very specific and useful task of quickly and efficiently converting videos to go on any Apple Ipod or Iphone. This includes both classic and 5th generation Ipods as well. Ibulk is a command-line only program but incredibly easy to use and runs off FFmpeg with AAC functionality. The program comes with a Read Me file which will explain its options and instructions in concise detail. Ibulk converts several videos in its input folder to the desired H.264 or XviD video encoding to its output folder. All videos are created in mp4 format with 160Kbps 48000Hz audio sound quality (highest setting an Ipod can handle) and both video encoders at the highest bitrate an Ipod can handle with the exception of some videos which will be auto-adjusted to meet the Ipod's requirements. Ibulk is written in the native unix/linux language and so it should work on any linux distro.

View 2 Replies View RelatedNormally, when ever I have an issue with ubuntu (which, for me, is often; I'm quite new), theres generally an error message to google, but such is not the case this time. So, I finally got my itouch to sync with gtkpod, but I accidentally messed up the process and didn't do the first sync properly, which meant the Firewire GUID wasn't properly set up, which then means every time I try to add music, it takes up space, but isn't recognized by the device. Well, I ended up find out and fixing the problem, but now my ipod has about 1g of music on it that is not recognized by my ipod, and thus, very hard to find and delete. Is there a way to get my space back, without formatting the itouch?

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen i had windows xp i used to convert almost any videos video into audio (the whole video into audio) by going to [url], downloading vdownloader and just inserting the url in the box provided; waiting for a couple of minutes and having an mp3 format file at the location that i want it to be in the desktop. when i searched for something similar for linux, because vdownloader was an .exe file and obviously wasn't going to work on ubuntu.
i found that i could get a video downloaded from videos but not an audio - i wait for the video to finish buffering; click on places; computer; file system; tmp; then rename the video folder and copy/relocate it to where ever on the desktop. ending with this video format "flash video (video/x-flv)". my question is: is there a linux program where i get to convert the entire video format to an audio format, possibly mp3?
