Im using firefox version 3.6.12 and it functions fine. However when i use the latest version of this addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...11377/#reviews the screen goes grey and firefox crashes. Restarting firefox only results in more crashes. I had a older version of this addon-1.5 i believe that worked fine.
View 2 RepliesI'm a bit confused but not surprised by this problem I'm having. I liked the look of the FoxTab addon for Firefox (Swiftfox actually but I don't think it should make any difference) mostly for homepage thing it has which is similar to the Chrome/Safari opening page.
I followed the FoxTab instructions for using this page when I open a new tab and that works fine, and then (as instructed) changed my homepage to 'about:blank' but this only works when I click the homepage button.When I open a new Swiftfox session it doesn't come up with anything (just a blank page -
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit with Firefox 3.6.13 (from the repositories) and I can't seem to get the Firefox Sync AddOn installed.The addon can be found at:Whenever I try to install it, it comes up with a download error (see attached screenshot). I am running the same version of Ubuntu (albeit 32-bit) and Firefox on my laptop, and I can install it just fine on there. This leads me to think that this problem must have something to do with the 64-bit version.

1. is it normal that the ff 3.6 is running on gecko 3.0 on ubuntu? cuz in windows the ff 3.6 also has the 3.6 gecko
2. if so.. how can i update that gecko?

I somehow removed all icons for every extension and addon within Firefox on Windows7, but forgot what I did. It would be nice to know how to do this on Ubuntu... migrated over to Vmware to test out and I always like a clean look.

Since moving from centos 5.6 to fedora 15 a week ago I have been unable to get Last Pass firefox addon to work correctly. Those of you familiar to last pass will probably have seen the error message before in a variety of situations, namely "An error occurred while attempting to contact the server. Please check your internet connection." This error appears as soon as you log in (which it does manage to do) but instantly loses authentication - seems like the cookie expires almost instantly and therefore all saved sites/passwords require re-authentication with LP to use.
No network configuration has altered since the OS change, but F15 comes with firefox 4 rather than 3.6.x in centos. I know the last pass plugin should work with FF4 and have read suggestions about SSL/TLS version settings (which are 3.0 and 1.0 respectively) and disabling SELinx. Neither of these have made any difference.
In viewing some web pages, the right hand dozen or so characters are hidden unless the left-right scroll bar is used. When Firefox 3.5.8 32 bit is expanded to full screen on a 1920 pixel wide monitor on Kubuntu 9.10, Firefox changes the word wrap so the new dozen or so characters are STILL hidden, forcing me to use the left-right scrool bar.
There no longer appears to be any Word Wrap option. I tried several solutions Googled, including userContent.css hacks and a couple of add-ins, but they all appear to apply only to the preformatted tag. This is not a "pre" issue. The text in question is not inside the preformatted text tag, and the site CSS is not under my control.
When I search addons with firefox, it takes 4 mins to connect to server, and after approving to ad it, it again takes that much time to connect to download. While downloading it's ok, but connecting to server takes time. This is for all addons. Is there any body having same issue?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded a laptop from an older version of Ubuntu to 10.04.1 LTS, which included an upgrade of firefox to ver. 3.6.9. Many pages in firefox now display only some of the text, although if I hilight where the text should be I get hilighted areas and if I copy and paste them into an editor the text shows up. Other pages display normally.
An example of this is [URL] where the "Welcome to the Ubuntu Forums ..." (un-logged in) paragraph is invisible although the off-white box which should contain this text is there. A few things I've tried and discovered:
* SeaMonkey doesn't have this problem (I'm using it to write this).
* If I un-check "Allow pages to choose their own fonts", the invisible text shows up with locally spec'd fonts. Specifying local font colors makes no difference.
* Switching users makes no difference.
* I've tried re-installing a large number of ttf fonts plus fontconfig, which makes no difference.
* This problem wasn't there before the upgrade.
I keep having problems with firefox. It keeps crashing when I'm listening to the radio. Has anyone else had this issue?

i had just installed an update which had alot to do with firefox via Ubuntu update manager. Every time I browse the web and i want to go forward a page or back Firefox freezes every time. If it helps it mostly happens on flash based sites. I have flash block installed but it doesn't always help. Also it happens on random sites. But im not sure why this would log me out.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIt seems like it is mostly happening when I am running fire fox. The screen goes black (but in in sleep mode) and I have to push the power button. After I push power button the screen goes marron-ish with an ubuntu logo with a 4 animated dots and then turns off.
when I start the PC up again I get an error about the Power Manager not ending correctly. It has happened 3 times so far today alone.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter updating to Natty Narwhal, Chromium began to occasionally crash, with the screen going black except for the mouse,which would freeze seconds later. Any sound playing will loop the last second or so, and no keyboard commands have any effect. As far as I can tell only a hard restart works.
The exact same thing happens with Firefox as well, except that Firefox freezes with the screen image, not blackness.
It is not consistent, but has been getting more frequent, and I have noticed a pattern of the crashes being associated with paying Flash video, and is almost certain with such.
I have tried updating Flash, Chromium, and running the Update manager roughly daily for a while now.
I can follow instructions well and usually actually understand what you're talking about.
Recently firefox has been crashing on me like crazy. I'm on Fedora 14 with the latest repo firefox version. Running firefox with the "-safe" flag doesn't help nor did reinstalling firefox using "yum reinstall firefox". According to ABRT every crash is due to: "Process /usr/lib/firefox-3.6/firefox was killed by signal 11 (SIGSEGV)". When run from root in terminal via "sudo firefox" with and without "-safe" after crashing the message returned to terminal reads: "/usr/lib/firefox-3.6/run-mozilla.sh: line 131: 2*** Segmentation fault (core dumped) "$prog" ${1+"$@"}". The stars after 2 (I.e. "2***") are to indicate different numbers. On one run they were "2406" and on another "2538". Recently, in all instances firefox crashes right after attempting to navigate to a website (I've tried many - there is no correlation between what website I go to and if it crashes). Previously, when firefox was crashing less frequently, it occurred intermittently and wasn't correlated to any action I took.

My motherboards BIOS is up to date and it is able to handle 8Gb, but what is it's issue? Running Ubuntu 10.4 LTS with a virtual Win7 (that also will not boot now). All the updates for Linux are current as well.

At first I thought it was the flash plugin, which was actually part of the program, but then I renamed the whole .mozilla/firefox directory, thus causing it to start fresh with no plugins or extensions. Firefox continued to crash, and in fact, now it seems worse. Now it will crash normally within about 2 minutes of having been started, and it will crash even if I don't do anything. If I just start it and leave it on the firefox start page, it will crash.

It doesn't seem to have been a hard drive problem..I have enough space and memory.
With regard to addons, I have java and shockwave flash...and an addon for weather....though i have noticed it used to crash before I had installed any of those..
