The main problem is that I can look at any directory on my site and get a file listing and then right-click on that file name and then save it to my client hard-drive all from my browser. ex: [URL] I think I can change this behavior in the apache config but don't know enough.
I m watching matches through a website and my laptop understands this situation to be inactive. It s kind of anoying... When I do it in windows, it s not happening, I guess because windows detects I m watching a video. This is happening in both firefox and chromium. Is there anywere to make this not to happen?

I have another opera browser problem,i upgraded to version 10.53 build 6330 last week. it keeps crashing the cpu goes to 100% and wont come down, i had this problem with the previous version but its a lot worse with the new version.
also noticed that when browsing ebay the scroll is very jerky until you get about a third of the way down the page then it scrolls ok again.
i get the feeling the crashes are something to do with the flash player.
i tried to uninstall flash but i cannot get it to uninstall .
How do I stop a user, from gaining access to the internet(port) via a restricted browser? In other words, I want a general user to only to have access to Firefox and no other browsers.
My first approach so far, has been to write a bash shell script. It terminates a program based on keywords from known browsers (opera, asus, ect).

Rebooting, logging out and in as someone else, then logging back in again as myself doesn't stop it. And, I'm afraid to uninstall Nautilus. I've tried Re-installing it to no avail.

im running vps with debian lenny, with apache2 webserver, memcached, postgres and django-framework using mod-wsgi. Some of the pages served by django take long to generate (aprox 15 s), but there is also the memcached, compensating this.
My problem is that, when a robot visits the site, it starts traversing the site visiting all the pages and also the nongenerated, thus slowing it down to point where it is not responding.
What Im looking for is a solution to identify that the request comes from a robot (user-agent, ips, etc) and limit the resources, so that f.e. only one thread serves the robot etc...
I'm using the lego RCX2 to create robots for a class, and I can't figure out how to get the tower to work with Ubuntu

None of them are anywhere near my alias for the index.php but yet phpmyadmin is broken. Is there away I can mess up robots like this. Send IP's that create multiple wrong page requests on my server back to their own IP address maybe? I would then just set thresholds to decide how strict to be. I did try fail-to-ban before but it is cryptic. I don't have it on this particular server.

View 7 Replies View Relatedi just updated from karmic 9.10 to lucid 10.04 using the online upgrade option. so far everything is working great. the only issues i am having seem to involve firefox. when i visit videos i get the message "your browser is no longer supported. please upgrade to a modern browser." i am running 3.6 "canonical" so it is "modern". i am able to watch videos after i close the message. it's just an annoyance to get this message every time i view a video.
next, is on some websites (like this one) it will not supply my login info. but on a few sites (like ebay) it does supply my login info. not sure why some sites work while others don't. the info is there when i look under my saved passwords....
I'm surfing along just fine when I select some link in my browser.The status line reports "... waiting for ..." and the browser seems to stall for a long time (minutes). Often, but not every time, I can select the STOP toolbar icon and reload the page. This time things work normally.

Watching the running system with 'htop' and similar, I do not see where some other application or service is sucking all of the available CPU time or such. [Analysis -- It has the feel that either the browser message or the email message were sent into limbo without reaching their intended destination. Stop-reload sends the bits to the right places and so I get results.]
whats the difference between restarting/stopping apache using 'service httpd restart/stop' and apachectl restart/stop. I know that using 'service httpd restart' is actually a script in /etc/init.d/httpd but what about apachectl?

View 4 Replies View RelatedInstalled Fedora 10 a few months ago. Was using pulseaudio and when viewing flash in firefox I was getting sound. I was experiencing too many problems with pulseaudio and other apps, so I uninstalled pulseaudio and now I'm using alsa exclusively. However, since doing so I no longer have sound when viewing flash in firefox. Sound when playing movies and/or listening to music is totally fine. I tried removing firefox and flash-plugin and installing them again but to no avail. I'm on FF 3.0.12 and flash-plugin 10.0.22.87-release.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I have installed Fedora 13 both in my home and office computers only replacing the previous Fedora 11. I didn't edited the partition table in either cases. At office computer I only have one hard disk with C: and D: partition in NTFS and the linux partition. In Fedora the C: and D: are shown now as /media/disk and /media/disk-1. How to see these drives as /C and /D? In home computer I have two 500GB hard disks. sda1 is FAT formatted and all of its drives are shown in either platforms nicely. sdb1, the other 500GB HD has two drives (N: and P each of 250GB and both NTFS formatted, is shown as /media/New Volume in Fedora 13, however opening it shows only the content of N: drive. Can't do anything using Disk Utility of Fedora 13.

If I have a PDF file open, when I open a second one. I get a page with nothing on it. When I close the first PDF file, an I try to open the second one, it opens with no problems. However, she'd like to be able to watch the link in a minimal window without having to start the web browser. Anyone know of such a program? The program is supposed to open the link as an image and update it every second or so. It should be "ultra light" and have a minimal user interface.
Another option would be to view the webcam directly on the desktop instead of only having a picture there. Is that possible? What additional software does she need for that? She has compiz fusion installed, if that matters. She has Ubuntu 9.04 on one computer and Ubuntu 9.10 on the other one. I need GD for image viewing with PHP. On the PHP web site it says I have to recompile PHP --with GD. However in the user comments someone said that with Debian use apt-get install php5-gd and that will work. Well I tried that and I still do not have GD available. Is there something I missed with the apt-get method or do I have to recompile PHP?

when I try to view php files on my linux box, they want to download instead of viewing them. I configured apache for php as the manual said but for some reason it doesn't want to parse the php. the http.conf file may need to be changed, that the line "AddModule mod_php4.c" was missing in the conf, however the AddModule and ClearModuleList directives no longer exist in the newer versions of Apache. These directives were used to ensure that modules could be enabled in the correct order. The new Apache 2.0 API allows modules to explicitly specify their ordering, eliminating the need for these directives.

but it doesn't show me the names of the files that printed.
Is there a way to set a retention policy to have it hold the job in the queue even after it's finished printing? Or a command to view the details of jobs that have already run? I'm looking for something similar to the output of the lpq command.
I dual boot winxp and fedora. Though i can view ntfs partitions using fedora, windows doesnt recognize ext3fs partitions.
I have tried few softwares but they support ext2fs only.
