Security :: Robots For Phpmyadmin - Create Multiple Wrong Page Requests?
Nov 19, 2010In my logs for Apache I have lots and lots of failed attempts for incorrect incarnations of [URL]. None of them are anywhere near my alias for the index.php but yet phpmyadmin is broken. Is there away I can mess up robots like this. Send IP's that create multiple wrong page requests on my server back to their own IP address maybe? I would then just set thresholds to decide how strict to be. I did try fail-to-ban before but it is cryptic. I don't have it on this particular server.

Server :: Apache Overloaded By Robots?
Jan 12, 2010im running vps with debian lenny, with apache2 webserver, memcached, postgres and django-framework using mod-wsgi. Some of the pages served by django take long to generate (aprox 15 s), but there is also the memcached, compensating this.
My problem is that, when a robot visits the site, it starts traversing the site visiting all the pages and also the nongenerated, thus slowing it down to point where it is not responding.
What Im looking for is a solution to identify that the request comes from a robot (user-agent, ips, etc) and limit the resources, so that f.e. only one thread serves the robot etc...

Jul 7, 2010I need to stop the viewing of robots.txt on my website. I get the contents of the file displayed in my browser when I issue the command: [URL] stop this as it displays all the directories I don't want them to go to.
The main problem is that I can look at any directory on my site and get a file listing and then right-click on that file name and then save it to my client hard-drive all from my browser. ex: [URL] I think I can change this behavior in the apache config but don't know enough.

Mar 30, 2010I noticed earlier today that I was only getting a 54Mb connection with my wireless which I assume means that it is using g class to connect (I get 130Mb connection when using Windows 7). On my router setup page I changed the mode from mixed (a g & n class) to just n class and from then on I couldn't connect to the internet or even access my router home page.
My router is a Linksys WRT-160n.
Wireless card is Edimax EW-7728ln.
I appear to be using the correct drivers - RT2860.
Also using Wicd network manager

Ubuntu Multimedia :: USB Mass Storage Class Music Players?
Feb 4, 2010I am so completely frustrated with this and can't seem to find any solid answers. I have a Google Nexus One phone. I want to also use it as a portable music player. I can find no player for Linux that can do ALL of the following:
- copy music
- transcode when necessary
- transfer cover art in appropriate format
- transfer playlists (music files AND .m3u playlist files)
Banshee is the closest, but it is so painfully slow, has many problems with tags and also doesn't transfer playlist files. Banshee advertises support "out of the box" for this device. I've tried overriding with an .is_audio_player file, but it is ignored. Rhythmbox will transfer song files and transcode as necessary, but no artwork, no playlists. Exaile doesn't recognize this device for some reason.

Some time ago I replaced OpenJDK with SunJDK.

which java is /usr/bin/java
Yesterday, for the first time, I downloaded and ran an Avast! scan. It complains of "Malware-gen" in several class files in what I think is the java cache. Does anyone know how this could be?

The people who I work with all run windows and did not have to make any changes to ping the new network. What do I have to change to be able to see the new network, connect via samba etc.
