Software :: Opera 10.60 Doesn't Know "notrayicon" - Doesn't Start
Jul 4, 2010
The new release of Opera 10.60 doesn't recognize the -notrayicon option anymore. If you had this option in your menu, then Opera doesn't start anymore and dies silently. You won't get an error message, and this error can keep you quite puzzled.
The solution is to remove the -notrayicon option from the menu entry. In opera, go to opera:conf and find the "notrayicon" option and disable it.
I recently installed Opera 10.10, and I'm loving the browser.I decided to try out some themes, decided I didn't like them, and went back to the default theme which I like. Now though, the right click menu of the mouse doesn't actually load a theme - similar to when a program that needs root privilages (Synaptec package manager for example) won't be skinned unless you put a theme folder in the .root directory.I've attached an image of the right click menu.how to get Opera to load the Gtk (I think) theme or inbuilt theme for context menus. I've tried removing/reinstalling, but it didn't work
Edit: Just noticed - buttons, and windows inside opera, aren't being themed either. So it seems anything that requires themes outside of Opera's main window won't work.
after I upgraded from Lucid to Natty, Flash doesn't work in Opera any more. In Firefox I have no problems.
As suggested in another thread, I tried installing Flash-Aid for Firefox and reinstalled Flash with this extension, but no luck. I also tried purging and reinstalling Opera:
sudo apt-get purge opera sudo apt-get install opera No luck.
I've got a box running Etch which seems to have a bad memory controller (I get segmentation faults left, right and centre) so I've built a new 'puter with twice the CPU power (2.4Ghz Intel Q6600 vs Athlon 1000+) and four times the RAM (2Gig vs 512M). I downloaded Lenny three days ago and, apart from some screen resolution issues which I've been discussing in the Newbie forum, most things have been working just fine.
However, I downloaded Opera yesterday (opera_9.64.2480.gcc4.qt3_i386.deb - same version I've been using on the Etch box) and I've seen some strange behaviour. A lot of sites, this one for example, work as expected, but if I go to, for example, www.bbc.co.uk or www.guardian.co.uk, the hyperlinks don't work, the cursor doesn't change to a hand when I hover over the links and clicking over the links doesn't do anything. The same pages work normally using Opera on my Etch box so it seems to be an issue with Lenny, or maybe Gnome on Lenny (I have KDE on the Etch box).
I downloaded wubi.exe from Opera 10.61. The file downloads ok, but then refuses to do anything when I click on the file.
I also switched to my IE version, and tried to run the file from there. Again, I get the hourglass symbol for a couple of seconds, then nothing.
I'm running Windows 98. I know, I should have a newer version, but finances can't manage that right now. In the meantime, is there a manual way to run the installer for wubi and get it to work?
I did a clean install of Ubuntu 11.04 64bit and the start up time is abnormally slow. If I start up the computer and don't press anything, the start up time is 30 minutes but it usually doesn't start up at all. It just boots into a purple screen, no splash, then it sits there and the computer doesn't have any loading lights flashing.
I had a similar problem with 10.10, but I assumed it would go away when I did a clean install of 11.04.
I can't get a read out of what's going wrong because when I press Esc it doesn't display anything, though weirdly it can sometimes get the start up process moving. I have also found that pressing enter really fast can sometimes help and something that seems completely oxymoronic, if I press the power button while it's starting up that can make it work, but nothing works every time.
I'm configuring a new Centos 5.5 server in replacement of an old W2K server. The topology of our network is simple : one file/dhcp/dns relay server and workstations (PC's and some MAC's) plus network printers and scanners. All the workstations have dynamic IP addresses (easier because a lot of 'dynamic' changes : new persons with their own laptop, ...) and the server and printers/scanners have fixed IP addresses.I edited the dhcpd.conf (see here underneath), I have the file dhcpd.leases but it doesn't start !
I just installed KDE under Arch Linux. Problem is, nothing is starting up right with it - no window manager, no panels, nothing. All I get is a small terminal window in the bottom right corner of the screen, which I'm assuming is konsole. From that single window I can do things like start kwin or launch programs whose names I happen to know (like chromium or firefox), but I don't have a panel for starting programs or switching between programs. Even Alt+F2 doesn't bring up the normal dialog.
It doesn't matter whether I start kdm through inittab or manually by typing # /etc/rc.d/kdm start. KDM looks great, but once I log in as my normal user I just get a console window with no decoration. Is there a startup script for KDE somewhere that needs to run, and usually has a bunch of programs by default - like a window manager, panels, widgets, and all the normal background programs that run in an ordinary GUI? If so, can someone show me the default script so I can work from there with a window manager, decorator, launchers, etc.?
have intalled Debian 8 on bi quad cores opteron, also Tomcat 8 and openjdk7 are installed, i have do a mistake about version eclipse because i have installed eclipse Kepler or the lasted version of eclipse is Luna, after douwload Luna, i have deleted eclipse kepler who was installed in /opt directory, i do the command "tar" for luna version, no problems for instaling, but eclipse luna doesn't work.I try many version of luna like 32bits and 64 bits, but nothing to do the IDE doesn't start.

LibreOffice 3.4 shows up as installed and in my applications menu, but when I try to open it (either through the menu or by opening a file) it shows up with the spinning thing in the task bar but then disappears and never opens.
I just installed openSUSE 11.4 and after the installation of VirtualBox I coudn't start it. The icon at the cursor kept jumping but no response. I tried to run the binary from Konsole and I got the following message:VirtualBox: supR3HardenedVerifyFileInternal: Failed to open "/usr/lib/virtualbox/VMMR0.r0": No such file or directory (2)I checked YaST to see which packages were installed:
Sometimes when I boot openSuse 11.2, it only boots to runlevel 2 (console) I have to log in as root and enter init 5 to make kdm appear. Then I can log in normally, and everything works fine.
I've just switched from XP to Ubuntu 9.1 on a relatively old computer (6-9 years?) yesterday, and everything worked like a dream. I've used my computer twice today and nothing seemed to be going wrong...but then came the problem. I haven't toggled with the settings too much since I'm still very new to Ubuntu, but whenever I log in with my password, the GUI doesn't automatically start up. I get the terminal in the right left-hand corner instead, and none of the fixes I've found so far have worked. I usually get some variant of an error message or my hostname doesn't exist.
When I click on the Ekiga menu-item it seems like nothing is happening. So I went into htop and saw the process is running. When I start Ekiga from the command line, nothing happens as well. Then I tried starting Ekiga in debug modus with option -d 5. Still nothing showing up. When I call my VOIP number I can see a call coming in, however there is no ringing sound and no dialogue to pick up the phone.
Then I re-installed by 'aptitude purge ekiga' and then 'aptitude install ekiga'.
I am working on Ubuntu Karmic. The Ekiga version is straight from the repositories: Version: 3.2.5-1ubuntu1.
using ubuntu 9.10 and wine 1.0.1 was able to install Delorme street atlas 2008 plus sucessfully but when I run autorun.exe the app. doesn't start only the first screen that says "creating controls connecting to components and then nothing happens.
I upgraded to 10.04 and my AWN dock won't automatically start even though the 'box' is tic'd and it's showing in the Startup Applications. I did lose all of my configurations as well after upgrading and had to reinstall everything on the dock.
Also, there are little numbers on the launchers like for Trash and Email that tell me how many items are in there. The Trash was easy to remove the numbers by right clicking and choosing the Preferences option. There was a place to disable that but there isn't one for the Email and those little numbers look well.
I just upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04. While it seemed to go fine, GDM won't start. (Instead the Plymouth bootloader just displays the splash screen continuously.) I can get in through a virtual terminal, but starting GDM via the init script does not do anything. I also tried this:
I tried running sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm, but this did not change anything. Logged in from the virtual terminal I can run startx and get the desktop, but obviously I would like to have the login manager working.
This will be my first posting here. Please forgive me for not posting this issue under the right place on the forum. I highly ask to the mod/admins to move this post to the correct location if needed to be, or let it continue as normal. My problem here is with this software blender 2.56a, I'm running Ubuntu 10.10. 64bit This version of blender worked just fine for me since it updated to my computer. But right after finishing an complex render, blender crashed and will not start up again.
Every time I click on the icon it just keeps flashing up and crashing down. So I went to the main blender site, and downloaded one of their stand alone version of the 2.56a. I ran it and it works just fine.
I tried reinstalling blender 2.56a under Synaptic, but no use. I'm out of ideas, I want this software to run like it use to. Again, It use to run without any problems, but just under one hard render it crashed, and Now it wont launch again.
However, I did mange to get my project to render just find under the stand alone. If any one needs some sort of debugging file, or information of some kind. I would then need to know how to re-chieve it..
kdevelop doesn't start in Slackware 13.1. The output just says
Code: ... /usr/bin/kdevelop.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/qt/plugins/sqldrivers/libqsqlite.so: undefined symbol: sqlite3_open_v2 Relevant packages installed on my system (all unmodified from 13.1): sqlite-3.6.23.1-i486-1 kdevelop-4.0.0-i486-1 qt-4.6.2_2d3d3e5-i486-1
So it's a problem between sqlite and qt(?). Rebuild needed?
I'm using 'Adobe Flash plug-in 10.3.183.4ubuntu0.11.04.1', installed from the package repos on kubuntu, and since the last update, it has broken all flash functionality in both rekonq and firefox.I have tried removing and reinstalling the package multiple times, both with and without the browsers open. Can anyone suggest a way to restoring functionality?
I just installed Fedora 12 on my HP laptop. And everthing has gone smooth, and I decided to reboot my machine. And it rebooted and the Fedora Loading logo camep and after it finished, it went to a black screen with a "|" just flashing and it's stuck on that
Yesterday I installed Fedora 15 instead of Ubuntu 11.04. I have nvidia card, so I've searched for nvidia driver installing howto and found it on this forum [URL]. But after updating kernel -
Code:
yum update kernel*
(now it's latest - 2.6.39) - and rebooting Fedora didn't start. I even don't know if it's something with GRUB because It automatically loads Fedora and I can't know whether it's its problem. When I try to start Fedora, I just see black screen with blinking underline cursor at the top left of the screen and it's the first and the last I see except laptop splash screen. I have Asus F50SV (Nvidia GT120M). By the way, I've tried to install nvidia drivers manually and xorg.conf became broken. I've edited it and now it like this:
When I boot my Fedora 15 installation it shows me the blue screen with progress indicator, however I do not reach the login screen.Instead I see the textual shell where the last item is:Started Display Manager. It looks like my monitors are not detected anymore. I have been working with them though (this appeared after a restart). I am not sure how I determined it but I read in some log that no display was detected. Nothing changed to the hardware set up however.I see some suggestions to run system-config-display as root. However this command can not be found nor can it be found when I run yum install system-config-display.
