Software :: No Sound From Flash Player (Slackware)
Oct 10, 2010
I have a fairly fresh install of Slackware and I just installed the flash plugin for Firefox. After installing the flash plugin, I'm able to view videos, but I'm unable to hear any sound.
- Pidgin also does not play sound
- Amarok plays sound fine
- Other KDE system event sounds play fine (i.e. starting and leaving X)
- I used alsaconf to configure my sound as it wasn't working right after the Slackware install
Ever since I replaced my old Radeon HD 3850 AGP card with a Radeon HD 4830 PCIE one, Flash Player (v. 10.3.181.14) is a mess: - no hardware video acceleration (full screen playback unbelievably slow) - no audio
Only flash plugin is concerned; hardware video acceleration and audio seems to be present in other applications. (First skype also had no sound, but that could be set by selecting the onboard analog audio device instead of the default).
In this specific case, even yast is confused: I can configure the mobo audio device in it, but nothing else works in yast: no audible test sound, no possibility to set volume for the mobo audio device, as no volume controls are shown. (It may happen that yast "shows" the non-existing radeon hdaudio device controls, instead) Kmix is better: it shows both audio devices and all controls and all work (this means there are no controls for the radeon hdaudio device - but I do no miss them, as I do not want to use that device).
Is there a way to: - disable the radeon hd audio device so that linux get into a more friendy hardware environment? - is there a way to do this in linux (alsa)? (of course everything works in xp, this time, too)
I have used the command timidity -EFreverb=0 -iA -Os so that I can hear sound when I use tuxguitar. My problem now is that I can no longer hear sound when browsing the internet. My web browser is Firefox. By right clicking my mouse on the websites where I cannot hear sound a dialog box about adobe flash player 9 appears. There have not been any error messages.
I cannot hear anything from flash player or firefox ANT1 WEB TV / no sound
Definition of pending adjective from Cambridge Dictionary Online: Free English Dictionary and Thesaurus I cannot hear the pronunciation of the world. Τhe sound chip (Realtek ALC88B) is embedded in the motherboard. I think the problem started after an update. YaST2-> Sound Configuration

Other-> PulseAudio_Configuration an error message apears PulseAudio is not installed or cannot be configured. If I try to install the package alsa-plugins-pulse Warning: !alsa-plugins-pulse-1.0.23-1.9i586 requires pulseaudio, but this requirement cannot be provided.
I went to watch a short little clip on ..... and it said I needed flash 10 so I downloaded that and the problem is, is that when I tar the file there was only one other file in the tarball which was libflashplayer.so. Would I need to download the source for that and the slackbuild if its got one. I am having difficulty trying to download anything it says to select a mirror and go from there but how do you uncomment a mirror? I cant even update my computer. I am using slackware 13.1 64 bit.
Ok downloaded the SlackBuild script to install flash. I download the the files to go with it and ran the script. The script creates a .tgz in my tmp folder and I install it. After I install it I close out of my browser and re-open to check flash and every website I goto tells me flash is not installed I am a little confoobared with this?
Using Pentium4, snd_hda_intel, Codec Realtek ALC880, slackware64 13.1, No Gnome, firefox3.6.8 with flashplayer. Is is possible to replace Flashplayer with mplayerplug-in? Followed this a ubuntu tutorial:[URL]..community/SoundTroubleshooting to identify Sound Device using:
Code: $wget -O alsa-info.sh http://alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh && bash ./alsa-info.sh Tested sound by running gxine wizard which set it up as a plugin. Also ran mplayer but there was no wizard for firefox plugin both play sound. Used slackpkg to download mplayerplugin and pkgtool to install it. Where is mplayerplugin suposed to be installed? ***Found Mplayerplug-in... Pkgtool installed it right into Tools -> Addons-> Plugins intoo firefox... So i am going to disable Flashplayer and see what happens Thought I had to mannually configure it?
I fresh installed Maverick and had sound for buttons and Rythymbox. After installing flash all sound is gone.I have checked most of the suggested possible causes but have not come up with the reason for this. ALSA info: [URL]

I just installed Adobe Flash Player 10 and it says it's installed, when I go to firefox and Epiphany it still has flash player 9, Ive quited the browsers and everything Ive uninstalled/reinstalled still no luck.
My flash player has stopped playing back audio on a particular TV show recording. Movie is fine but no audio. It's fine with every other movie. However, I notice I can play that same tv show in windows, which has to discount a problem with the station or their movie files. The slack package used to play this tv TV program until recently.
Code: [URL] Do you think reinstalling the package would fix it? i.e. Code: slackpkg remove flash-player-plugin-10.0_r45-x86_64-1_SBo.tgz then Code: slackpkg install flash-player-plugin-10.0_r45-x86_64-1_SBo.tgz
i was having severe problems under slackware64-current with the adobe flash player plugin for firefox. browsing and watching videos on videos was a pain in the neck with the player crashing when opening a couple of tabs, and constant lockups for several seconds while the plugin wrapper that was running it was taking one cpu core for itself.
it seems the problem stems from a recent change in glibc that modified the memcpy implementation and caused a bit of havok in some packages. i'm guessing it's the same change (or a similar one) that caused problems with sysklogd and iptraf, among others, with strcpy and overlapping strings. remember the patches:
[url] [url]
strictly speaking, those are problems in the program source code, but most people seem to think it's a bad idea to provide a memcpy that doesn't work for overlapping strings. a bit of discussion can be found here, with a few priceless comments by torvalds:

it seems the source code for the flash player plugin probably contains this bug, as manually modifying the libflashplayer.so binary to replace memcpy calls with memmove calls fixes the problems. at least it clearly did for me.
a quick recipe can be extracted from that bugzilla entry and one of its attachments.
for example:
code:
that should modify the binary in place provided it's located at ~/.mozilla/plugins. the resulting binary is not distributable but the recipe is.
..... tab opened and if a click on some of the related videos (while it's still playing) firefox terminates. The same if I open ..... on one tab and myspace on another - firefox just shuts down.I want to know why this happens, is it a bug and how can i fix it ?
I upgraded to a new(er) soundcard this morning on my Slack 13.1 desktop box. I ran alsoconf and got sound working in everything but Firefox flash. It's not specifically a flash problem; flash sound works just fine in Konqueror. It's a Firefox issue. I created the following login script in order to try and force the new card to be recognized as the default:
Code: bash-4.1$ cat .asoundrc pcm. !default { type hw card 1 } ctl. !default { type hw card 1 }
I have a fairly fresh Slack install. When I start or shutdown X, the sounds that are supposed to play do. Also, sometimes everything else that is supposed to play sounds does.
However, sometimes the sound doesn't work for flash content or pidgin. I have never had a similar problem and I don't know where to start in resolving this issue.
I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 AMD64 beta. After installing the flash player, everything worked fine. I installed a few updates, as well as Ubuntu Stuido from the synaptic package manager, and when I rebooted, I can't hear any sound from flash content displayed in Fire Fox. All other sounds work fine, and I made another user account as a test, and that account has full audio functionality, including flash...
installing flash player I am running ubuntu 10.04 LTS It says that flash player is installed (flash plugin-nonfree is installed but i still cant watch any videos in you tube
I have installed and reinstalled flash player several times, but nothing works. What happens is anytime I try to play a flash game, the audio lags about 2-3 seconds. When I play a flash video, there is only very, very little lag. This problem also happened while I was running ubuntu.
I can't import the key, can anyone tell me why or what i'm doing wrong? I'm trying to install Adobe Flash Player and am trying to follow the instructions below.[URL]...
I installed Fedora 13. It seems, i can't use Adobe flash player, although i have install it. I cant look at movies from dvd and it seems the Empathy also don-t work. It shows i am available, but don't sows me my contacts. I want to use msn messenger.
when pdf files didn't load into firefox (problem still not solved), i tried to remove mozplugger, of which there were two instances in plug-ins. i first though flash-plugin was the culprit, so i removed it. but it wasn't. so i removed nsdiswrapper and then, i could remove both mozploggers (same version) i*still had icedtea, and itunes application detector, which i*found no way to remove since there is no file name associated with it in add-ons, plug-ins (rather weird, if you ask me).
so i reinstalled mosplogger, flash-plugin 32 bit and nsdiswrapper (i*don't remember in which order) and now not only pdf files don't load in firefox, or any viewer, but i can't watch flash even at videos, which is rather reliable flash-wise. i receive this error message:
you need to upgrade your adobe flash player to watch this video.
i*still have 2 mozplugger instances.
what's my next step? i*checked google for this error message and found nothing relevant.
p.s.: flash-plugin is, of course, the latest release:
