I'm running WordPress 3.0 with apache2 on ubuntu 9.10. I'm trying to setup the Multiple Site feature for multiple Blogs, but can't seem to get past the enable network message. Does anyone know why the Enabling network message on the Network screen will not go away? It seems to be stuck even though I log off an back on again into the WordPress3.0 admin screen.
View 2 RepliesI'm running Debian server 5.0.6 and the latest stable version of Apache. I am hosting a website and it will stop responding after an unknown amount of time. In order to make the website work again I have to run /etc/init.d/networking restart. The server is running a static IP address and is not resetting when the website goes down. I don't know where to start looking.

However, now I want to add more domains with wordpress to that VPS. I created a directory called /home/public_html/domain1.com and linked it to the /var/www/ directory. then I created another directory called /home/public_html/domain2.com and uploaded wordpress there. I'm trying to get wordpress to work with lighttpd and my home test server... <name>.dnsalias.org as my IP is not static... When I install wordpress ( via apt-get ) and set it up through install script like this:
bash /usr/share/doc/wordpress/examples/setup-mysql -n wordpress <name>.dnsalias.org It is accessible from outside of my network but not from local one where the sever ip is 10.0.0.200 From outside it is using correctly domain <name>.dnsalias.org but from inside when I try to use ip 10.0.0.200 from other pc on net it will not work..a s it still using <name>.dnsalias.org in all links... Also I would like to have it in <name>.dnsalias.org/wordpress as I have another test site in <name>.dnsalias.org/<test_Site> which by thee way works from inside and outside of my network.... its just wordpress ...

I am running Debian 5.0 (Lenny). I am trying to get Wordpress 2.9.2 to work with Sqlite3. I hear Sqlite is a better database server than MySql because it is lighter on resources and is much smaller. I am very new to Sqlite3, however, so I'm not totally sure what to do here. In my wp-config.php file (the Wordpress configuration file), I've set the database name and user name, and such. Now, I think I know how to create a database, but from that point forward, I'm lost. How do I add the password for Wordpress to access the database. By the way, I made a regular Unix user, called sqlite, for all Sqlite things.

I need to restrict www.web2.com to Internet users and allow only to local network. At same time I need to allow www.web1.com and www.web3.com to both Internet and LAN users.

The problem is that cgi is not working, it just prints the content of the files. (The default location for cgi, /usr/lib/cgi-bin works without problem.) I'm not certain that my problem is due to an Ubuntu upgrade, but I'm running out of options.My private Wordpress installation was working fine, including being able to upgrade plugins and WP versions within the application. I've been doing all of the Ubuntu updates as I'm notified. I'm still on 9.10, but was planning to upgrade to 10.04 shortly - as soon as I get the Wordpress installation upgraded in fact.
But the plugin upgrades, and the Wordpress upgrades, are both failing with fopen errors, like so:Download failed. Could not open handle for fopen() to [URL]..After checking everything else I can think of (including temporarily making the wordpress directory hierarchy 777), and looking at the php.ini file, I wonder if some Ubuntu update is messing things up. Or if I've somehow changed something else that is causing the problem.

I'm installing Wordpress and I want Hosting Multiple Sites with them. For that I need modify the httpd.conf file but it's empty. Where I can make that changes? These are the changes:
1. Type: LoadModule rewrite_module /libexec/mod_rewrite.so
2. Find the <VirtualHost> section in the httpd.conf file.
3. Find a line in the <VirtualHost> section of the httpd.conf that looks like this: AllowOverride None
3. Replace that line with this line: AllowOverride FileInfo Options
4. On a new line, type ServerAlias *.[URL].
5. Save the httpd.conf file and close it.

I've been on a quest to enable full routing through my openvpn tunnel between my office and the colo. Masquerading will work, however it will throw off anything key based and makes a lot of things just more difficult and vague in general. Is there an easy way to do this via iptables? I tried using quagga hoping it would magically solve my problems, however it does not seem to do my routing for me . I just did a basic static route within zebra...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have three locations with a central office connected to two remote locations. At the central office I run on a cisco asa 5505 two site to site vpns. The remote end of the first site is a checkpoint firewall , and the remote end of the second site is racoon on debian. Both sites are up and working. However, where at the first site traffic goes both ways, at the second site it only works from the central office to the remote office.
For example, I can ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the first remote site (through checkpoint firewall,) then ssh back from that host at the remote office to any host in the central office. In contrast, after I ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the second remote office (through racoon), I cannot see the central office hosts (ping the ip address of a central office host, ssh, etc. all fail.) The vpn settings at the central office (the cisco asa 5505) are identical. So it seems to me that some routing magic is missing on the host running racoon at the second remote office. Where would such setting reside? racoon config files? iptables?
Maybe a site-to-site Ouija board connection.

In the office there is a local network with samba+openldap PDC. The local domain name is company.net. The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?

From what I can understand I'm able to create aliases by adding entries to /etc/networks/interfaces, I haven't tried I'm in the planning stages. Hypothetically, 192.168.22.30 is my primary IP and I want to set eth0:1 to have 192.168.22.31, and then after that I want to create a virtual machine (using kvm/qemu) that is able to communicate bidirectionally to the internet over eth0:1, and leave eth0 strictly for administrating (not for VM traffic).
The qemu guides I'm finding seem to assume that I want to use TAP or VDE, what I want to use is a sub-ip/alias. One guide I saw had me eliminate everything from eth0 and put it under br0. That would leave me unable to ssh into my server (and unable to administrate). Is there a way I can do something along the lines of: qemu [options] -net [option] -netdev=eth0:1 ?
I'm trying to setup a DHCP server that serves several different VLANs, we have 5 in total. Our network is working correctly, with static IPs, we're able to ping across without any issues.
When I connect my debian box to an interface on VLAN5, statically assign an address in the correct range, it works. Similarly with all other VLANs.
To configure this box as a DHCP, I set one of the ports on the switch as trunk, connect that to the debian box to allow all VLAN traffic to reach my debian box.
I setup DHCP following the steps on [URL] ....
Then I configured different VLANs by following the steps on [URL] .....
However, with the vlans setup, I am unable to ping anything. This is essentially what I did.

I was wondering if/how it would be possible to compile a kernel package where two featuresets are applied. I notice that xen-vserver seems to have been done and wanted to make a xen-openvz kernel if possible to use VZ containers in a Xen DomU. I've tried reading the metadata files in the debian/ dir of the kernel source but there seems to be a lot "going on" and I couldn't make much sense of it...

It works when I use just one mail message as a parameter of spamc. E.g. spamc -c < 17383. BUT when I want to pass several messages on spamc e.g. spamc -c < 17383. 18974.(spamc scan just the first message) OR when I use a whole directory e.g. spamc < ./test/* it doesnt work. (output: -bash: ./test/*: ambiguous redirect)

I have Ubuntu 10.04 running gnome and two monitors. I am wondering if a can get a better multi-monitor configuration tool. The one I have, gnome-display-properties, has too many problems, including: When I swapped my monitors over, the narrower (external) one now on the left. There is a width calculation error, such that I have a virtual monitor the width of the wide-monitor on the narrow-monitor and part of the wide monitor. And a virtual narrow-monitor on the remainder of the wide-monitor. Also the visible mouse pointer does is not aligned with the active spot, an x offset of one monitor width.
