Software :: How To Find Out What Mx Record Is Of Postfix/webserver

I have setup a an Apache webserver inside my local network to host my website...The domain name is purchased thru godaddy, and they are providing our DNS control. Now I have setup Postfix on this same box. I can send email to the WWW from this box, But i can only recieve mail on it, if I send the mail from this box...to this box.
When i send mail from the www it kicks it back to me, says connection to the Mail Exchager has failed. My question is how do I find out what my MX record should be, or How do I go about setting up my MX record. It needs to be inputed on godaddys total dns control page for my domain.

Ok let's say I have Apache Webservers on 2 different machines within my network, I have http://outterABC.com setup at dyndns.org to point to my modem at home, and my router forwards Port 80 to the ServerA Machine (i.e. 192.168.0.3). I can access my webpage I setup for the Server A Machine.
But what I want to try and do is somehow access my ServerB machine's website that is on my same network. I tried something like this http://ServerB.outterABC.com and the apache page came up with something like the page wasn't available. I want to access the content of the ServerB website, but because I have only one router, i can only forward Port 80 site traffic to my ServerA machine's website. I'm sure it's a different syntax I should use but i'm just not sure what I should enter to bring up the apache root web page for the Server B website via http://outterABC.com
I tried setting up DNS A records on ServerA, but I don't think it will work with what i'm trying to do above.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 I am using 10.10 I am using headphone/microphone headset this did work for me with 10.04 never a problem, I have tried to use these to fix problem - audacity/sound recorder/pulse audio volume control/pulse audio device chooser/ (the more I use 10.10 the more I love it its been a learning curve I am sure this is just another one of them for me..)

When I click on the input tab the signal measuring bar is always staying lit on the first section and does not move further. This means that the mic is not capturing sound. In 10.04.1 there was a dropdown menu in the input tab from which I could choose the default microphone and thus choose an option that works. In 10.10 there is no such thing. I kind of fixed it by adding "options snd-hda-intel model=3stack" in alsa-base.conf. Now I have the dropdown menu and my microphone works for now. The problem is that I did not have to do this in 10.04.1 ... options snd-hda-intel model=3stack sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf for mine it was mic 1 and it worked

i installed ubuntu inside windows but someone instead of uninstalling it directly deleted the ubuntu folder inside windows ,thinking that the partition will be deleted. but when i restarted the system and command prompt came and said unable to find boot record and i couldn't boot windows as well and a grub prompt came like grub>, then i inserted the windows boot cd and repair the boot record error but my problem is , instead of doing this way, can i do so by grub prompt directly without using winidows cd.

make install then i got this error: postfix: fatal: chdir(/usr/libexec/postfix): No such file or directory make: *** [install] Error 1 I don't understand why it's checking the usr/libexec folder for the daemons although I've set the folder to /opt/product/postfix-2.6.5/libexec in the makefile. I'm using mbox storing for dovecot 1.0.15 messages. The mailbox is in a different partition (/var/mail).The MTA is postfix 2.5.5. SO is Debian 5. How can I find email accounts that haven't be accessed within a 30 days period in order to delete them?

so i set out to change the default smtp port the server uses because my ISP blocks port 25 and i need the email to work in outlook. this morning i could receive email, but not send it. so i did some research and thought that i needed to edit the master.cf file in /etc/postfix/ by commenting out this line: smtp inet n - n - - smtpd -oand replace it with587 inet n - n - - smtpd (587 being the port i want to use)somewhere along the lines postfix server stopped running and now i cannot get it to start.if i try using SSH it crashes immediately and if i restart it in simple control panel nothing happens

I recently moved over user from an old box running postfix(v 2.0.16) over to rhel 6 running postfix (v mail_version = 2.6.6). ive tried to make sure all the files are of correct permissions and that the main.cf file is configured corectly. However there is something wrong as when i run postfix: service postfix server i get no error but when checking the status:service postfix status i get: master dead but pid file exists Looking into /var/log/mailog i find this line being the issue:

I gather this is a file permission issue and ive tried to make sure the public folder in /var/spool/postfix is correctly set but still no avail.

I was trying to write a graph plotting program with c++. I need to convert the infix expression from user to postfix expression for quick evaluation. However, the evaluation of postfix is kind of interpreted, and thus kind of slow for evaluating huge number of values. Say if I plot an implicit function the penalty is quite huge. Is there a way that I can compile the infix expression from my running graph plotting application for high speed evaluation.

I have isntalled a server with Centos 5.2 OS, now I would like to switch from the default sendmail to postfix doing a yum install postfix I've noticed there is already available an rpm version for the OS but I would like to compile my own 2.5 version, I've noticed compiling from source does not allow me to use the mail switcher to tell to the system I'm gonna use Postfix instead of Sendmail as the default MTA while this is possible when I use the "official" rpm version of the package. Now my question is this, would this be a problem? There is some specific procedure/best practice I should follow? Or once compiled and configured Postfix I can safely disable/uninstall sendmail?

My installation is Fedora 11 with Apache 2.2.15, PHP 5.2.13, mysql 5.1.47 an joomla 1.0.13.When I upgrade to Fedora 13 with preupgrade all seem to be ok, but when I open my website the main site is showing. I can see all the menu but when I open an article there is no text. I log on to joomla and edit the contents and I can see all text. Can anyone give a tip of how to solve this?

I want to install a 64 bit Fedora (14) webserver with 8 CPU's. I am not sure if 8 CPU's are supported in Fedora 14? Do I need to configure something first or will Fedora just install nicely and use all of the installed CPU's?

when i go to my server's IP address, the index.php files is downloaded, not run, how can I fix this? I have php5 installed and enabled.

I posted this question a while ago but haven't had any luck getting it answered so I reworded everything to make it more clear. I started an Ubuntu web server on an old work laptop. The purpose of this server is to host a small file-sharing site, a forum, and a wiki. I have no prior experience with command line Ubuntu but am trying to figure this all out.
So far Ive setup the LAMP server, so apache, mysql, and php are installed. Ive also installed phpBB3 and Mediawiki. Both phpBB3 and Mediawiki are able to open from inside my LAN. I also have SSH setup and am able to use putty to manage the server from inside my LAN. Mediawiki runs slow internally but this is a secondary concern.
Externally to the LAN I can access the webserver using SSH(but sometimes it is too slow for anything that opens up such as nano or the SQL password prompt to display and the connection drops). I can also browse to the site and see the default apache welcome message. But I cannot open the mediawiki or phpbb site. Both will sit indefinitely and not open. The access log on the server shows that the request is being passed through though.

how to create an entire server from scratch using a minimal install. I know Ubuntu Server 10.04.1 comes with packages that can be included during install but for the sake of learning I only installed SSH access.
I was able to get Apache2, MySQL, PHP5 installed and running fine. What I'm trying to do next is setup DNS so I can point fragdata.com to my Ubuntu server and have other people see my test site.
I have registered the nameserver ns1.fragdata.com with my IP and updated DNS in my registrar. I followed the tutorial but "dig fragdata.com" gives me the following:

I have a spare duel core pc with 500GB HDD and 2GB memory so decided last night to do a full format and a complete install of ubuntu 10.10. My mission is to turn it into a web server. I have installed xampp for Linux and everything seems to be running smooth.
1) I used sudo apt-get install openssh-server and edited the sshd_config to change the port to 28. I have also opened the ports in my router but when i try to connect from another network pc i get connection refused.
2) I have a domain name I would like to assign to my server pc but don't know how to do it since "ifconfig" states 192.168.1.3 and my external IP from "whatsmyip.com" keeps changing.

In order to pass PCI compliance I need to upgrade our webserver from php 5.3.5 to php 5.3.6. I found this: [URL] however it doesn't seem to work. My best guess is due to the fact I have 64bit server. Is there something else I can do without going through a compile?

I have one desktop machine with fedora 11 installed and a Laptop with both linux and Windows Xp. I use the laptop as my client machine.
I want to set up both a dns and web servers on the same machine for testing and practise purposes.
how to do it bcoz I can set up the webserver but I can't browse the website on the Fedora machine when I use my laptop. I have learnt that I should set up a Dns server.

I am using squid3 on ubuntu server 10.10, publish my webserver running on other machine on ubuntu10.10 desktop. My server is configured for squid3 transparent proxy which is running successfully.
Now I need to publish my other machine which is running with apache2 webserver.The local IP is 192.168.1.5, I need to assign a public IP as 61.8.153.212 provided by ISP.

I am looking for advice on a what I am sure is a very basic procedure but I have never had to set this up before and am not sure where to start.
I am running 2 CentOS5.3 boxes. I have one webserver connected to the internet and behind a firewall. I would like to set up the 2nd server (database) behind the webserver and completely inaccessible from the internet. Ideally so it can only be accessed by first ssh'ing onto the webserver and then ssh'ing from there onto the database. The webserver connecting locally to database.
From what I have seen it looks like I need to set this up using NAT but I have never done this and do not know what is involved. Can someone point me in the right direction and optimally outline the steps I need to take to hook this up? Do I need to worry about any specific hardware configuration as well?

The server I'm running runs Debian Etch, Squid and Shorewall. Every 24 hours the server gets a new internet IP so I need to use dyndns to keep the dns pointing to the correct PC.
I have a webserver that is running behind the debian server and am having trouble with it. When I enter the web address, it gets a timeout.

I want to backup my apache website using tar. I want to make sure all the permissions and such stay the same so that if I restore a website, it's ready to go exactly as it had been.I am using the following command and would like to know if there is anything else I should neeed to do?
tar --xattrs cvzf backup.tgz /path-to-webserver-files
Now my other question is since tar doesn't store absolute paths, when I run the restore I have to be in the root directory? In another words if I run the command in a user directory will tar do something retarded like encode the paths as ../path-to-webserver or will it just be path-to-webserver so that when I run the restore from the / folder it will automatically go into the right place?

Last night I couldn't access my webserver, so I ran downstairs and turned on the monitor, only to find a "GRUB" prompt on the screen. I don't really know much about grub, but it didn't seem to accept any input anyway, so I rebooted, and after the server went through all its hardware checks, the "GRUB" prompt reappeared, still unresponsive to any input.
Next I booted with the F11 DVD and selected "Rescue Mode" from the menu. That looked hopeful. I was able to mount my filesystem, but I have no idea what I'm looking for or how to fix it. The manual hasn't been too helpful, and I haven't found any "how to guides" that address this kind of thing.
How does a solid reliable system like this just stop working? How can I get it back on its feet, and is there anything I can do to prevent whatever happened from happening again? Am I doing anything wrong?
This server has been running nonstop and trouble-free for about four years now. I upgraded from F10 to F11 without incident. I'm running Apache httpd, Tomcat (through httpd via ajp13), and sshd (only accessible from the local network). I update everything with yum on a weekly basis. The server is on a private network with port 80 NATted through the cable modem and a wireless router. The wireless network is secured with WPA2 Personal.
I was just about to upgrade to F13 before this happened, and I'm now wondering if I should do a clean install and start over, or if installing F13 as an upgrade will fix whatever is wrong with the system. I've always felt you had to get everything in working order before you even think of upgrading, but I don't know if that applies to Linux. Will I just end up with a F13 system that won't boot?

I have OpenSuse 64bit running a web site. I have a form on this site here:- Dynamic Systems Group The script itself works and I have tested it on another hosted server and it works fine. However on my server the email the script sends never arrives, which must be a problem with my Postfix settings I guess. However I also have two pages on my site for testing sending of mail, which BOTH report a postive result:-

However even though these pages report successful send the mail stil never arrives. I have looked at many pages and forums on the internet and I am really, really confused as to how to set up Postfix. On the Suse box I have the Mail Server configured in Yast to send mail via my Gmail.com account using TLS and authentication but still no success!
