CentOS 5 :: Postfix Mail Server Will Not Start Tried To Change Postfix Smtp Port?

so i set out to change the default smtp port the server uses because my ISP blocks port 25 and i need the email to work in outlook. this morning i could receive email, but not send it. so i did some research and thought that i needed to edit the master.cf file in /etc/postfix/ by commenting out this line: smtp inet n - n - - smtpd -oand replace it with587 inet n - n - - smtpd (587 being the port i want to use)somewhere along the lines postfix server stopped running and now i cannot get it to start.if i try using SSH it crashes immediately and if i restart it in simple control panel nothing happens
I'm trying to set up my postfix server to relay mail (via a php cms) using Gmail's smtp on my account, but for some reason, Gmail returns an error code that StartTLS must be sent first, my postfix main.cnf file can be found at pastebin, because of this forum's text length I cannot paste my postfix main.cnf file as can be seen I have everything set and configured for Gmail, but postfix (for some unseen reason) can not send StartTLS. configuring my postfix server to send mail over smtps port 465. My ISP (as is the case with many ISPs), is blocking outbound SMTP, so I need to configure postfix to relay my mail out through my ISPs SMTP servers.
I was able to get it to work with gmail, which uses port 587, by using SASL: [URL] but that configuration is less than ideal as gmail drops the "reply to" address so when people receive my email, it looks like it's from gmail instead of from my server.
If I use my ISP SMTP servers as a relay the "reply to" address is not stripped, but the relay uses ssl over port 465 instead of TLS. According to the SASL readme:

I've looked at the TLS_README and can't figure out what I need to do. how to configure this?
I've setup my server by following a ton of goods, and it seems to work ok, but I need to start using my server for email in order to receive orders placed via my website. I've followed this guide - [URL] I followed the steps above, and tested the mail server via telnet, and all seemed to be ok. I tried sending an email via Squirrelmail, from cs@thinclientwarehouse.co.uk TO my working email simon@c1systems.co.uk, but the server returned with the following message:

The account or domain may not exist, they may be blacklisted, or missing the proper dns entries. 550 Sender verify failed (in reply to RCPT TO command)
I tried to setup a Postfix system as VM Guest, in a single file image. So I want to store the mails on another hosts throught NFS mount. I got various errors when Postfix try to write to the NFS share. Anyone knows what's the correct setup for this? like file permission on the NFS?
One of my mailservers running postfix has suddenly stopped sending mail and has been generating the following errors:

Things I have tried to fix this problem, but didn't work.
1) Stopped postfix, uninstalled and reinstalled.
2) Did a complete filesystem relabel with a touch /.autorelabel and reboot.
3) Did a restorecon -F -R on /etc/postfix, /var/spool/postfix and /usr/sbin/post*
Nothing above has worked and have no idea why with selinux disabled postfix works and with it on it fails.
I'm new here and I'm sure this question has been thrown around a lot but I just couldn't find a solution. I have a networking website I've setup and we need to send notification mails to our members depending on activity related to their profiles(messages, comments etc).We are hosting the site on Centos5.6 with VirtualMin and are using Postfix as our MTA. We also use google apps for email on the site. Heres the problem, the mails go through for some gmail users but more often than not, they end up in gmail,hotmail and yahoo spam.We've setup the appropriate SPF codes on the server, DKIM and rDNS works fine.v=spf1 ip4:xx.xx.xx.xx a mx include:_spf.google.com ~all Below is a sample email that goes directly into gmail spam. I've replaced the actual values with dummy text (Ip, Domain etc)

i currently installed centos 5.3 with postfix. My old server is centos 4.5 final / new 5.3 final. Old server has sendmail / new has postfix. how can i transfer all the mail and settings from the old to the new? also, the old mail server is mail.xxx.xxx and for testing purposes i named the new mail server mail2.xxx.xxx.
when i an ready to put it into production, the new server will need to be mail.xxx.xxx and the old removed from the system. How do i go about changing the name and making sure everything comes out correct?
I have postfix setup right now and it's relying mail to our Exchange server fine. What i would like to do though is have postfix save the email that gets passed through so that if a manager deletes an email, it's easy to look through by date and find the email he's looking for. Well, I'm thinking it would be a lot easier then having to need to pull out the backup tape and try to recover one email. Does anyone know whether I would be able to accomplish this?
I have configured mail server with postfix with dovecot with no encryption: When connecting with Thunderbird imap is working fine. When sending email from another domain to this domain again it is fine. I added two new user to try on sending and receiving mail. It works.I run CentOS on VMplayer. I using my laptop to do all the stuff, the laptop default OS is windows 7, i install VM player on it and run CentOS inside the VM Player.I want to do testing on Windows 7 side by installing Thunderbird email client program, i want to connect to mail server with SMTP, IMAP/POP3 using the email service. I have problem while setting up user account on Thunderbird, Thunderbird seems like cannot detect my CentOS mail server. How ?
Do i have to do any other configuration on CentOS ? any DNS ? port number for IMAP,POP3 or SMTP ?

I have searched through piles of postfix and sendmail documentation but I'm not sure of the terminology to describe what I want to do so I'm never sure what solutions are workable. Null client, relay hosts. What I have already is a RHEL postfix server which sends and receives email. What I want to do is add a second postfix server to the network. The second server should accept only ssl smtp mail and forward it on to the main postfix server. Users shouldn't use it for normal internal sending/receiving. It's only to allow me to support ssl smtp from people working out of the office without messing about with the main postfix server. I thought a Null Client sounded likely but I don't think it will accept mail. Is it a relay host I'm trying to configure? Any pointers on configuring something to just accept secure smtp and forward?
I am using the Postfix SMTP server for sending emails. However I just did a default installation and subsequently someone is sending spam using my SMTP server. I would like some help on securing my Postfix server and to block these mischievous emails being sent from my server.
I am looking at setting up a multiple postfix SMTP servers for a single domain. Below is my requirement, I would appreciate if someone out there could guide me to achieve this using postfix..
1. Want to setup 2 postfix SMTP Server with 1 POP3 Server.
2. Server1 will host POP3 & SMTP services for domain "metallica.one".(IP: 1.1.1.1, MX: mx1.metallica.one)
3. Server2 will host only SMTP services for domain "metallica.one" (IP: 1.1.1.2, MX: mx2.metallica.one)
4. Server1 & Server2 will be used as load balancing for sending mails. (either manual settings in email client, or auto-loadbalancing is still preferred).
5. Mail received for domain metallica.one on Server2 should be pushed/forwarded/relayed to Server1 where POP3 services are running.
6. Outgoing mails for other domains from Server2 should be sent directly to the other-domain-recipients without relaying to Server1.
make install then i got this error: postfix: fatal: chdir(/usr/libexec/postfix): No such file or directory make: *** [install] Error 1 I don't understand why it's checking the usr/libexec folder for the daemons although I've set the folder to /opt/product/postfix-2.6.5/libexec in the makefile. Unfortunately, something is preventing mail delivery. I can't tell from this error log whether it's the remote machine rejecting me or whether it's my machine rejecting the self-signed cert on the remote machine:

I have setup a postfix mailserver and it seems to be working ok, we are only using this to relay mail to our forum users. Its not being used to recieve any email only send them out to the internet.

Two exchange servers internally. One is setup for example.com (192.168.1.10) and the other is setup for example2.com (192.168.1.20) Both are behind a single public IP.
I want to use postfix to sit in front of the two exchange servers. Postfix will accept mail for both domains and relay to the appropriate server. I have postfix installed with only defaults at this point.

I have isntalled a server with Centos 5.2 OS, now I would like to switch from the default sendmail to postfix doing a yum install postfix I've noticed there is already available an rpm version for the OS but I would like to compile my own 2.5 version, I've noticed compiling from source does not allow me to use the mail switcher to tell to the system I'm gonna use Postfix instead of Sendmail as the default MTA while this is possible when I use the "official" rpm version of the package. Now my question is this, would this be a problem? There is some specific procedure/best practice I should follow? Or once compiled and configured Postfix I can safely disable/uninstall sendmail?
