Software :: Hamachi Connection Slowly Deteriorates And Ultimately Fails?
Jun 3, 2010
I'm relatively new to Linux, but I'm learning fast. Right now my Linux box is serving as a file server for my network, and as a test bed for learning various tools and actions with Linux. Anyway, I loaded up the latest version of Hamachi, following a tut I found to the intertubes. I got logged on fine to my Hamachi server, and for a few moments the connection looked fine. Eventually the connection started going back and forth between "ok" and "stale", before "failing" and then ultimately leaving me with a blinking green light in Hamachi (note: I'm watching this on my Windows XP machine, also note: not really sure what the blinking green light means but I can tell you that I'm no longer connected)
After many google searches, I've found a lot of pages associating problems with Hamachi to tuncfg. I've also noticed that along with the hamachi tarball on the ftp, the folks at LogMeIn have also provided a file called "tuncfg.patch". So I can only assume that the problem has something to do with tuncfg.Just wondering how I can troubleshoot this problem. I'm running Ubuntu 5.10, and the Hamachi version is 0.9.9.9-20
I've just loaded the new Hamachi2 Linux beta with Haguichi for a GUI. Everything installed & connects OK, but the connection at the hub is dropping & reconnecting every minute or so. I tried adding a line to the sshd_config file to keep it alaive but it didn't make a difference.
I am unable to get a key from keys.gnupg.net using: Code: gpg --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv 886DDD89 the above command returns
Code: gpg: requesting key 886DDD89 from hkp server keys.gnupg.net gpgkeys: HTTP fetch error 7: couldn't connect to host gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found. gpg: Total number processed: 0
EDIT: Correction: was able to get "A" key; however, its shows as Code: requesting key 886DDD89 from hkp server keys.gnupg.net gpg: /home/mrmunkey/.gnupg/trustdb.gpg: trustdb created gpg: key 886DDD89: public key "deb.torproject.org archive signing key" imported gpg: no ultimately trusted keys found gpg: Total number processed: 1 gpg: imported: 1 (RSA: 1) and a search shows:
Code: W: GPG error: [URL] lucid Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 74A941BA219EC810 I would rather make sure and get it right. I can see some keys located here at the tor project site. Another issues, I have been having issues with gpg keys for at least a month now.
i have a VPN set up with hamachi so i can access other PC's easily, however i keep reading that it is very safe to browse the net from a VPN, and since i already have a VPN set up, i was wondering how this can be achieved?
I install openSUSE 11.2rc2 kernel 2.6.31.5-0.1-paeand hamachi-0.9.9.9-20.54.1, on previous version it's work fine, but now when i try to exec hamachi from console i have next message:
Code: Message from syslogd@admin-gw at Nov 5 10:24:53 ... kernel:[ 1165.793481] Oops: 0000 [#2] SMP
I'm having trouble getting CSF working with Hamachi. I know Hamachi uses ham0 but has to use eth0 to establish a connection to the VPN servers. When I turn on CSF, hamachi seems to die but I opened the ports in CSF (443,12975,32976,17771)... I keep getting login fail when start Hamachi up. I'm guessing this has to deal with CSF/iptables but no clue on how to setup those rules to work with Hamachi.
I've tried to install Hamachi on my Ubuntu 10.04 but it was unsuccessful. I followed the steps below based on a tutorial i found on the web: 1. Made the fake module "tun", necessary for running VPN apps, which in Ubuntu 10.04 is already compiled in the kernel.Reading several forums on the web they say it was a "work around" for getting VPN apps to work...
A - mkdir faketun B - cd faketun C - echo -e "#include <linux/module.h>
I am writing this second topic to know how I can have hamachi automatically loaded at startup of PC (with fedora 10) without having to manually start. I tried several scripts but nothing works .
I simply cannot get this to work, has anybody managed it?
My problem is related to tuncfg I believe. I make the modification to the source of tuncfg to change ifconfig to /sbin/ifconfig. If I run hamachi start debug I get the following output:
It appears it cannot create the hamachi network interface because it doesn't appear under ifconfig.
run a Hamachi client in a Windows virtualbox and be able to set it up (using network bridging, maybe?) like Hamachi was running in the host itself.
I'm most definitely not a networking expert, but I thought it would be worth a try to see if anyone had any ideas. Hamachi for linux is outdated and unstable.
Also, if this isn't possible and anyone has another cross-platform zero-config VPN solution as stable as Hamachi
I actived Remote Desktop on my ubuntu laptop and i want it to be reacheable from remote out of LAN so i installed hamachi but i'm not sure how to make it work..
i installed it on the laptop and i create the network (id+pwd) then i installed hamachi on the pc (with windows) and i login to the network and it gives me the ip (5.225...etc) as you can see from the client i cant ping at this point could i acceed at the remote desktop with that ip?
i'd like to set up 2 hamachi servers on my network. one is already running...would setting up a second one be a problem? they would both be on the same router
I recently started to set up a SSH server, I was able to set up a Hamachi based VPN and was able to connect to it on all levels, for about 5 min, after that the server goes into idle mode and is no longer able to connect to that computer via LAN or Hamachi. Not till after I shake the mouse can I connect back in via LAN, and I have to log out and back in of Hamachi to get that to work. Is there a way to stop the Internet shutdown on that computer when it goes into idle mode? SSH servers are more or less useless if it doesn't let me tunnel in when I need to. This is for Ubuntu Server.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 64bit but so far all attempts to connecting over wireless give the same end result "VPN Connection Failed" from the [URL] at the end of the page as a link to a blog [URL] first problem is I can't restart network manager
Code: sudo /etc/init.d/NetworkManager restart return command not found, but if I use this Code: sudo service network-manager restart works, maybe the problem of this connection is because I attempt over wireless.
I am running Debian on my server (OpenMediaVault) and i am connected to a VPN service, using openvpn. BUT! How do i make sure that the internet connection, stays through my VPN service, or gets blocked, if the connection through the VPN tunnel fails? Jeah, yeah call me paranoid..
I have read this: [URL] ....
I don't know how i use the source code. Is there a script somewhere i can just download? And i don't want the LAN connection to be blocked.. only outgoing traffic!!
I have a Huawei E173u-2 mobile broadband usb stick. It is recognised as a gsm-modem and shows up as such in the networkManager-plasmoid. I have set up the connection details for my ISP (O2), but I can't connect. When I click on the connection, "signal strength" is shown as well as "operator" (o2 - de). The "connection state" changes to "Preparing to connect", then "Setting network address". Then the modem vanishes and comes up again a few seconds later.
Here is the log (/var/log/messages):
Code:
It seems like there is a connection for about 5 seconds, then the modem hangs up and restarts .
The stick works fine with our windows netbook, so I don't think it is a hardware failure.
How do I get this working?
My system: opensuse 11.4 kernel 2.6.39-30-desktop (2.6.38 gives the same error) kde 4.6.3 plasmoid-networkmanagement 0.9.svn1192577-168.6
I am using relakks.com VPN Service and set it up with gnome's default nm-manager interface. Everything is just perfect when I'm browsing the web. I can do it for hours and nothing happens. On the other hand, when I open up a torrent client - after 15 seconds to 2 minutes - I get a nice kick off the VPN.
I have a usb modem which I plug into my ubuntu 10.10 system for a dial-up service. The modem is recognised by wvdial and dials properly, but the connection is not established.I get "Unable to run /usr/sbin/pppd" (although pppd is certainly in /usr/sbin), followed by "Check permissions of specify a 'PPPD Path' option in wvdial.conf", and finally "Connected, but carrier lost", then it gives up.
After I've installed Ubuntu 11.04 in dual boot, I miss my Internet connection in Windows XP. I've reinstalled windows XP, but without success in this problem.
Recently I updated my openSUSE 11.2 and I'm not too sure what all were the recent updates but I suspect networkmanager also got updated. After I restarted my machine, my laptop fails to connect to the wireless access point. I tried both in gnome as well as KDE but the same error. This is the log I found in my /var/log/NetworkManager which I believe should give some pointers.
I did a search of this error in google and all I got were few results which complained about bugs in some debian distro.
My wireless card works fine and so does the access point I try to connect to since my Ubuntu installation is able to connect fine as well as my windows Xp.
Having just installed OpenSuse 11.3, NetworkManager identifies my wireless network, but repeatedly fails to make a connection. Without further ado, here are the outputs to commands requested in the first sticky thread:
I use the CD upgrade method to upgrade my kubuntu 10.04 to 10.10.Not to mention, the ISO image of the CD is this one :kubuntu-10.10-alternate-i386.iso.At the first run I choose YES for the prompt asking for internet connection or whatever, but I immediately realise that I have chosen a wrong option, so I exit and restart the upgrade all over again. On the second run, I choose NO for the prompt , then the installation continues until it reaches the 'fetching files' stage. It pops up and says "The upgrade has aborted. Please check your internet connection or installation media and try again. All files downloaded so far are kept."
I don't want to reinstall the whole system again because I want my applications;I don't want to use the updater to upgrade because I have a low internet speed .
I can get connected to the Internet when I reboot the system, but the connection usually fails after within 10 mins. However, even then the network manager says it's connected. Never reconnect, manually or automatically.
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 on a PackardBell notebook and have just got an Orange Livebox 2 for broadband connection(after years of dial-up as no adsl in my area).
I am trying to connect via WiFi to the Livebox to configure, but neither NetworkManager nor Wicd will connect. NM sees the Livebox but simply fails to connect after trying; Wicd says "Bad password". The WPA2 password I have entered is definitely correct, and I have connected without any problem from an AcerOne under Linpus.
I have also tried to connect using Wicd and an ethernet cable, and this doesn't connect either, returning "Connection Failed: Unable to Get IP Address"
I have a device that is only accessible using wireless. By default it starts an ad-hoc wireless I can connect to. The problem is there is no internet access on the ad-hoc. So I'm connecting it to my router using the commands (its a gnu/linux):
I want to add it to start up script but I don't want to get locked out of the device forever if something happens to the router (its really old). Is there any way to check if the connection failed and create an ad-hoc instead if it failed?
