How can I download Mail from Dovecot POP3 Server to new Dovecot POP3 Server of all users and will always run every minute. I've tried fetchmail and getmail but only in one user and need to run fetchmail or getmail to retrieve new emails.
I have been beating my head for the last few weeks on this problem, (although I have been taking the wrong approach, it seems).
I need a gateway to direct web traffic to three separate servers/domains. I have been trying to do this with both a dns server and , (seperatly), apache server to forward requests. The dns server was a no go, and <i can only get apache to redirect http and ftp.
After Googling this ALOT, I believe that what I need is a gateway server to redirect my traffic to the 3 different servers. I have been reading about using using nat and iptables for this and was wondering if anyone had any advice/suggestions on this. The other thought I had was to use something like pfSense to create the gateway, but I am still reading the documentation, and I am unsure if this approach will work.
I have one centOS 5.5 box recieving mails done by fetchmail service and it has a 5 client pc's, is there any way that the CentOS box able to deliver the mails to the 5 local network users that is using thunderbird as MUA.
the mails is stuck in /var/spool/mail as I verified in the webmin sendmail settings
Having my Diploma Final Project on setting up a virtual mail server within Local Area Network (LAN) only. I had follow this how-to [URL] and complete up to squirrealmail web mail. I added two new user to try on sending and receiving mail. It works. I run CentOS on VMplayer. I using my laptop to do all the stuff, the laptop default OS is windows 7, I install VM player on it and run CentOS inside the VM Player.
I want to do testing on Windows 7 side by installing Thunderbird email client program, I want to connect to mail server with SMTP, IMAP/POP3 using the email service. I have problem while setting up user account on Thunderbird, Thunderbird seems like cannot detect my CentOS mail server. How? Do I have to do any other configuration on CentOS? Any DNS? Port number for IMAP, POP3 or SMTP?
I just upgraded my Ubuntu 8.04 server to 10.04 and now I cannot receive mail on my Ubuntu 10.04 Evolution client, although I can send mail. No errors appear in auth.log or mail.log when I attempt to log in from my Evolution client, in fact mail.log shows 'pop3d-ssl: connection' from my laptop IP, followed by 'pop3d: Disconnected' when the log-in attempts fail.
I'm able to ssh into the server using the same log-on and password as before the upgrade, however I haven't changed the public or private keys in my .ssh directory. I updated the ssl keys in /etc/postfix/ssl but wasn't able to receive mail before or after the update.
The error in the client reads: 'Unable to connect to POP server mail.mydomain.com, error sending username'
I ran this test and the output appears to be related:
Is the pop3 server not running TLS? /etc/postfix/main.cf says it should, and I get no errors restarting / reloading postfix.
I am receiving messages in /home/user/Maildir, but I cannot download them.
I checked for supported authentication types in my Evolution client - 'Password' is the only one supported, as was true before. The client is not using any certificates.
The output of openssl s_client -tls1 -connect 127.0.0.1:995 shows 'certificate has expired' on the 'Verify return code' entry, not sure if that's significant.
What's different about incoming versus outgoing mail authentication?
I've used fetchmail for quite a while now and never had a problem, until (without having changed anything) today it suddenly quit working, giving me the error message:
fetchmail: connection to localhost:smtp [127.0.0.1/25] failed: Connection refused. fetchmail: SMTP connect to localhost failed fetchmail: SMTP transaction error while fetching from stefan%mydomain.com@mail.mydomain.com and delivering to SMTP host localhost fetchmail: Query status=10 (SMTP)
I googled the error message, but didn't find anything that look promising. I use ubuntu 10.4.
For long-term migration from courier to dovecot I would like to install courier-pop and dovecot-pop3d simultaneously. Aptitude offers me to install one, by removing the other, only. Can this be done without creating problems for the package manager and future upgrades? And why if not?
The following NEW packages will be installed:
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:
My problem is that the Mailserver in OpenSuse 11.1 (postfix, amavisd, spamassassin, clamAV en Razor) can not recieve e-mails, outgoing is ok. The problem started when I added 2 new users to de LDAP-server connected to Postfix. Some users can login, but most of them are getting the error: cant connect POP3 connection refused port 995.
I have a "friend" who hosts a couple of websites that I maintain. I have always used filezilla client to connect and update the files on the website.I lost access for a little while and he said that "The profiles had accidentally been dropped".He reinstated everything but now I cannot complete a log on session. I maintain several other websites which have the same PURE FTPd server at their end and I can connect to these OK.The delicacy of the matter is that, with no changes at my end, and my other sites working, logic suggests that something has changed at his end. I have very patiently worked through all his suggestions but to no avail.I can't suggest that he is at fault when he claims expertise in the field and I am a complete lamer when it comes to FTP.
I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to review the log on result below and see if they can throw some light on the situation for me.(I have anonymised the IP address and other information for security reasons)
I am having problem to collecting email from remote POP3 (all the emails for a domain is stored here) and distribute it after collecting to several users defined to Linux server. I have install postfix in Linux server for email distribution.
Is there any way to setup the Centos Directory Server without an internet connection?? i tried using the command: yum install centos-ds
but this just tries to connect to the internet to to download the packages. Is there a site where i can find the package so that i can copy it to my server and install it or is there some other way to do this?
I have mail server (for example.com) locally configured in my office and one email address (e.g. mail@example.com) in my ISP will catch all email to a domain (e.g. example.com). How to fetch all email from my ISP (mail@example.com) and distribute to all email user of my office.
using these fetchmail and postfix for fetching mail and sending mail ...... Instead of using incoming and outgoing like smtp and pop3 in outlook , why we use fetchmail and postfix mail server in linux and forward this to local windows client Outlook ..
I am trying to prepare procedures for email restoration following a file system loss that contained user Maildir directories. Assuming that my most recent backup is earlier than the last time that many users received and downloaded email, the restored mail directories will not contain messages that were previously received and downloaded to clients following the backup and preceding the crash. This is not a problem in itself, however, it does appear to cause problems for the email clients.
My desire would be for email clients (outlook, outlook express, thunderbird) to properly recognize the messages that currently exist on the server, ignore previously downloaded messages and download newly arriving messages. The behavior that I am seeing is that the email client fails to recognize that any new messages exist and fails to download any messages at all. By removing the dovecot.index... files and the uidlist file, the clients will download ALL messages that are present in the "new" and "cur" directories even if previously downloaded. This is also an undesirable outcome.
Im having a major problem with mysql-server failing to install. The installation stoppes on "Running Transactions" (have tried waiting for 10 minutes). When I use Ctrl+C an error appears:error: %pre(mysql-server-5.0.77-4.el5_5.4.x86_64) scriptlet failed, signal 2 error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping mysql-server-5.0.77-4.el5_5.4
My client has finally had enough of being attacked via SPAM/Viruses and having his single email account for his company being destroyed. Since it is a single account and he does not want to add additional accounts or create a new one(mail is hosted by ISP), I wanted to ask the forum on their opinion on using Fetchmail to download the POP3 mail and having it piped through SMAM Assassion or DSpam and or CLAM_AV or F-PROT. In addition to that I am going to use a corporate strength anti-virus such as F-prot(Been using for years) and really put this email through a microscope. I also was thinking of just blocking out all domains other than his clients list of domains so in other words block all and allow just the domains that we know are valid and are only from his clients. It is super restrictive but what I believe will end his issue.
I just did a yum upgrade (5.3 to 5.4) on one node of my three node cluster (RHCS), which did:
Rebooted to the new kernel, but cman failed to start. Rebooted back to the previous kernel, but no change, so it doesn't appear to be the kernel.... Some errors are:
On the upgraded node, the following processes are running:
Whereas on the non-upgraded node, the following processes are running:
I have a issue that could get me fired, so I would appreciate your input. My knowledge about linux is limited The company I work for has a Dell Poweredge 6850 that keeps pretty much everything (databases, websites, etc). The server had a Virtual Drive created from 2 Physical Drives. Since the HDD space was getting low, we got a new drive, inserted it, formatted and rebooted the system. But the system now refuses to start, giving an FAILED message, something related to EXT2 partition that cannot be read at /dev/hda1
