Software :: Firefox 4 Underscore Spelling Mistakes In Red But Can't Right Click To Auto Correct

Jun 13, 2011

I am using Firefox 4. It came preinstalled with Linux Mint 11. I have added my own tweaked prefs.js (contains all about:config changes). Firefox 4 underscore spelling mistakes in red but I cant right click to auto correct them! I renamed .mozilla to .mozilla.old and started FF and this solved it. However is there another way to fix this? I have all my addons and about:config settings just as I like them and don't want to start all over again.

OpenSUSE :: Firefox Spelling Does Not Update ?

Apr 28, 2010

Firefox checks spelling in text areas, which is good. However, the dictionary it uses is global and dictionary changes do not reflect across text areas. When your chosen spelling dictionary is Polish and you enter text in English into box#1 and then into box#2, and then you decide to review your spelling, you can change the active dictionary to English. However, this will affect the spelling of box#2 only, which is good because box#1 might actually be in Polish. So you go back to box#1 and change the dictionary to English? Nope; the dictionary is English already so choosing English has no effect and the words are still marked as incorrect!

What you need:

A frame with two text areas, e.g. Bugzilla.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Set the spelling dictionary to Polish.
2. Enter "damaged " into box#1.
3. Enter "damaged " into box#2.
4. While in box#2, choose the English spelling dictionary.
5. Return to box#1.
6. Append text "damaged " (once more).

Actual results:

2. box#1: damaged
3. box#2: damaged
4. box#2: damaged
6. box#1: damaged damaged

Expected result:
6. box#1: damaged damaged

Ubuntu :: Grub.cfg Does Not Get Read Correct - Auto-removes Characters At Boot Menu

Mar 10, 2010

I have a problem with GRUB 2 that I hope someone here can help me fix. Every time I boot I get an error because GRUB deletes that last part of the initrd line in /boot/grub/grub.cfg.

So this:

Code:

Becomes this (notice the missing "c" at the end):

Code:

And the windows part is also broken:

Code:

If I add an extra character at the end of the line it get removed instead and then it works. But only until next time the grub.cfg is auto updated. The error is only there when booting. Reading the file every character is in there.

Ubuntu Security :: Remote Desktop Allow Button Auto Click?

Oct 14, 2010

I have a home LAN server with Ubuntu Desktop edition 10.10 and I'm having a problem with remote desktop application. For now I have a monitor on that machine, but in the future it's gonna be only the box, without any periferal devices. When I try to log in via UltraVNC from Windows XP, on Ubuntu server a little window pops up, asking me to allow or refuse this "invader", so I click Allow and I really have full control on that machine. However, when I dont have any devices I wouldnt be able to click this Allow button, but will have to have full control. So, my question is how to autoclick this Allow button? Or when I try to log in the ubuntu machine, it would automatically give me full control?

Ubuntu :: Correct Way To Upgrade To Firefox 3.6?

Jan 27, 2010

Right now I'm running Jaunty with Firefox 3.0. That's what it comes with. I tried adding FF3.6 using some instructions, adding the repository etc.. But, that was aimed at Karmic users and it triggured all sorts of dependency errors in Synaptic. So things got a bit screwed up. God knows what version I have installed now but it sure isn't 3.6! So tomorrow I plan to do a clean install of of Jaunty. Then I'd like to upgrade to Firefox 3.6. What is the correct and clean way of doing that, adding the correct repository this time? I want to replace 3.0 with 3.6 not have both versions on my system.

When I try to play programs from BBC iPlayer website, the message on the screen informs me that I don't have the correct Flash plug-in, I follow the links to download this, but of course my computer does have Flash 10 plug-in already installed. I have tried removing this and reinstalling both from the website link and from Ubuntu repository, but still cannot convince Firefox that I do indeed have the necessary Flash plug-in.

Software :: Hidden Typing Mistakes On Command Line?

Mar 15, 2010

I use xterm and my kernel launches framebuffer before X windows.I reckon this is what's reponsible for hiding my all-too frequent typing mistakes.I'm a terrible typist, especially when in a hurry, but obviously you see your mistake and you correct it.owever if the terminal actually hides your mistakes, well you can have a frustrating few seconds. This sometimes happens to me and I think it's due to my Spanish keyboard and all the special characters that I can mishit. When I go to correct them (at least visually) the command fails and bash reports back (say, the filename) with an extra character (often a question mark). This all happens quickly and easily corrected but it's very annoying becuase of the way it hides these mistakes from your eyes

BUT, the really annoying thing is that when I click on the tab that appears, it just closes. I think this is a bug because sometimes the tab says something about java with some strange characters mixed with it.

Fedora :: Adobe Flash In Firefox - Freeze On Right-click?

Sep 14, 2010

So, I've done a fresh install of F13 on my laptop and the very first thing I chose to add was Adobe Flash (installed with help of Autoten). Flash plugin in Firefox seems to be working alright, but make a right-click on any Flash content on a web page - and browser will freeze.

I'm even puzzled about what can be done to diagnose the problem. Running Firefox from a terminal emulator doesn't give any useful feedback on this situation.

some input on what can be done to clear things up.

P.S. I'm running a 32 bit version OS.

Ubuntu :: Firefox Loses Pull Down Menus And Right Click Menu?

May 18, 2010

I'm running 10.04 w/ Firefox 3.6.

Often, and esp after adding something with apt-get or Synaptics I find Firefox will lose the ability to display either pull down menus or a menu from a mouse's right button.

I've been doing some initial searches for a bug report on Launchpad (but it is unclear if it is being used to actively track bugs vs some other place).

My 'hit it with a hammer' approach to a fix, at least to this point, is to reinstall from the local store or cache, the application;

Synaptic
Status Filter
Firefox (in the Quick Search field)
Mark the existing Firefox for Reinstallation

No files get downloaded, but a restart of Firefox and 'tada'; menus return.
