Software :: Fedora 15 Software Update Unspecified Transaction Error Occurred At System Info
Jul 14, 2011
Fedora 15 software update "unspecified transaction error occurred" at system info before installing updated list. After unchecking every (no arch) update, all the rest (i686) were installed. now all (no arch)updates remain on the list to be installed.
I switched from Ubuntu to Fedora and I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding why I cannot update my system. Fedora seems to be a little bit more complicated than Ubuntu to update and to do other things... I'm still willing to try it because it has a good reputation and good reviews so I will go ahead and give it a shot but before I do that I need to update it. I have an HP pavilion notebook dv2000. Just installed Fedora 15 and my system is telling me that I have over 700 updates! when I click on install updates I get an error:
Transaction error An unspecified transaction error has occurred. More information is available on the detailed report. Then on the details this is what I get:
I installed fedora 12 today...installation went fine. Tried to run the software update ( which includes 415 fixes) and got the following
Transaction error:- an unspecified transaction error has occurred. More information is available in the following report.
More details show:- could not add package update for abrt-plugin-runpp-1.0.4-1fc12(i686)updates:abrt-plugin-runapp-1.0.4-1.fc12.i686
I have unchecked the box in the update list to be installed, but the software update insists that this update is needed. I cannot progress any further than this error message..
I was trying to update my Fedora 15 amd64 when a Error Notification popped up saying "An unspecified TRANSACTION ERROR has occured". More details: "could not add package update for fedora-release-rawhide-15-3(noarch)updates: fedora-release-rawhide-15-3.noarch".
The details of the Unspecified Error are belowQuote:could not add package update for fedora-release-rawhide-15-3(noarch)updates: fedora-release-rawhide-15-3.noarchThe screnn shot attached of the error message!How will I able to get my system updated.After sometime it is today that I installed Fedora 15 and there are 316 updates to take place
After an automatic update from Debian I get the following error while starting a root terminal: An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for gnome-terminal. Some of your configuration settings may not work properly. Failed to contact configuration server: the most common cause is a missing or misconfigured D-bus session bus daemon.

I have fedora 12 dual boot windows/ xp on intel d845gvsr intel motherboard, intel celeron processor 2 ghz, inbuilt board graphics, 1 gb ddr1 RAM. I get this notification that updates available and when I try to download it it fails and I get the following error. Transaction error. "could not add package update for abrt-plugin-runapp-1.0.8-2.fc12(i686)updates: abrt-plugin-runapp-1.0.8-2.fc12.i686"
Ok. Using Release 12 Constantine Gnome 2.28. Whenever I try to update my computer via de Software Update Manager that pops up every now and then I get an error and the Software Update fails.
The error says its a repository not found, but I am very new at this and have no clue as to where to fix this. Alongside of this, is the fact that since one of the updates is failing, the rest don't install either. So the updates keep on piling.
This is the error shown in the More Details window:
I think I had this problem before but I don't remember what was done to correct it. I just tried to do an update and got this error message.

Code: An internal system error has occurred ..... Please use your distribution bugtracker to report this error ... What is the bugtracker? How i can use it?
I've been trying to update Fedora 15 for weeks. I always end up with a transaction error and the update stalls. The error reads: GPG keys listed for RPM Fusion for Fedora Rawhide-free repository are installed but they are not correct for this package. Check that the correct key urls are configured for this repository. This is far too involved for a linux newbie, I think my only option is to reformat and reinstall. This is so frustrating, there are 250 MB of updates available that I can't access.
I'm using ubuntu 10.04 beta 1. when I try to update & upgrade I get the following error:
Code: Setting up install-info (4.13a.dfsg.1-5ubuntu1) .../etc/environment: line 4: LC-ALL=en_US.UTF-8: command not found dpkg: error processing install-info (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127 Errors were encountered while processing: install-info
I just installed Fedora 12 and while I was trying to install Skype, there was a system crash and since then I cannot install any other software or cannot even access 'add/remove software'. Whenever I try to install a software or try to open the 'add/remove software' or, 'Software Updates' I get the message 'An internal system error has occured'. and inside it contains this-
Code: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/PackageKit/helpers/yum/yumBackend.py", line 2956, in __init__ self.repos.confirm_func = self._repo_gpg_confirm File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/yum/__init__.py", line 717, in <lambda> repos = property(fget=lambda self: self._getRepos(), File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/yum/__init__.py", line 496, in _getRepos self.conf # touch the config class first .....
I tried these using the terminal- yum clean all yum metadata sudo yum clean all yum clean metadata and all of these gave me the same result-
Code: Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit Config Error: File contains no section headers. file: file://///etc/yum.repos.d/skype.repo, line: 1 "su -c 'yum -y install skype' " Everything else is working fine, but I just can not install or update any more software.
I receive these messages after I enter my user_id and password in Ubuntu 9.04;
"An error occured while loading or saving configuration information for update notifier. Some of your configuration settings may not work properly." then clicking on details box this can be seen;- {Failed to connect configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBIT, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Could not send message to gconf daemon: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus))}
then there's another error message;
"An error occured while loading or saving configuration information for evolution-alarm-notify. Some of your configuration settings may not work properly." then clicking on details box this can be seen;- {Failed to connect configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBIT, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. Getting "DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit." when trying to update. I can't update or install software through the package manager anymore. The yellow exclamation point won't go away on the toolbar.

I've had a problem doing updates to Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic for months. I'd like to upgrade, but figure I should solve the update issue first. The output of "apt-get update" is:
installing package kernel-debug-2.6.31.6-166.fc12.i686 needs 27MB on the /boot filesystem installing package kernel-doc-2.6.31.6-166.fc12.noarch needs 27MB on the /boot filesystem installing package setroubleshoot-2.2.50-1.fc12.i686 needs 27MB on the /boot filesystem installing package perf-2.6.31.6-166.fc12.noarch needs 27MB on the /boot filesystem installing package hunspell-1.2.8-13.fc12.i686 needs 27MB on the /boot filesystem installing package gettext-0.17-16.fc12.i686 needs 27MB on the /boot filesystem"
I have boot as a separate partition, this time around I have set it to ext4 for the first time. That partition is only 250 Mb, but that has always been sufficient in the past, perhaps I am holding too many kernels or kernel versions?
Good afternoon! I open software update and it find 10 updates! i go to install but it give me a messege: Code: libtool-2.4-4.fc15.i686 requires gcc = 4.6.0 : Success - empty transaction what can i do?
I've just receive my new Dell desktop and I used CloneZilla to move everything from my old computer to the new one. I made an image of the disk of the old computer and restored this image on the new one.
For most of it, it worked well: it was relatively quick, and I have all my old settings except everythings is going quicker. But the new system is not entirely recognized: the processors are correctly identified, but I can't see the new RAM memory: hardinfo, free or cat /proc/meminfo all seem to refer to the memory of the old system, not the one that is on the new computer.Is there a way to force the system to reinspect the hardware and 'discover' its new ressources?
OS Ubuntu 10.04 Error occurred as system was attempting to hibernate Some error codes appeared Then I was returned to desktop environment. Question: Want to know how to copy the error to post
When trying to do an update or upgrade, I get the following:
Running Transaction Warning: RPMDB has been altered since the last yum transaction. Traceback (most recent call last):
[Code]....
I have tried yum clean all, yum clean metadata, rpm --rebuilddb, and even removing /var/cache/yum. yum info and yum list both work fine. Naturally, this yum problem is preventing me from updating my system.
